A little more info/comments...

It looks like the PJ Breakfast has almost equal votes for Sat the 23rd and Sun the 24th. I think someone mentioned earlier that the Sunday might not be the best day for PJ's for those going to Mass with Fr. Mike.

The Pirate Brunch has the most votes for Sun the 24th, with the 27th in 2nd place.

I think the plan is for the voting to continue for the next week, but this is just a "heads up" that we probably don't want them both the same day!

OK... I'm now completely caught up to this point (more or less) ... and now I have ta run my girls to gymnastics. Tomorrow we have a hotel on the sand at Redondo Beach because my spouse's company is a major sponsor for a Cancer Race - and her company decided every rep in her division has to attend it to work booths and RUN in the race. Well... she's also serving as division Co-Captain for the event and we've got a decent hotel right there... so we're going in ta hang out at the hotel and mix with friends who live near by - they're gonna come by and slum with us by the pool and sand if it's warm enough. Which it is NOT looking so warm right now... so if today is like tomorrow then we'll have a cool day of it.

At any rate - The kids and I are running in the event too. it's a 5 K event I think so I'm pushing a double stroller and taking my Step Mother out fer Mothers Day dinner too... on saturday to avoid some of the rush. Plus - early tomorrow I've gotta sign up my little one for AYSO... so it's busy busy busy..... then sunday it's Disneyland.

So, I may not be around too much - and will count myself lucky to post any, get to chat or DIS this weekend in any capacity. Please forgive my relative absence. Everyone now... take a collective sign of relief... and say "AAWWWWWWwwwww"!

That's cool to know something like an ancestor accused of being a witch in Salem... my father's family also came over from England- on the Mayflower.... we haven't traced anyone coming through Ellis Island on either side...

I was able to obtain all of my GGFs Civil War records and his wedding certificate from 1854 but our family line stops with him. I was able to trace his wife's (GGM) family line all the way back to the late 1600's when they came over from Scott land. Both sides of my family have been in the US from some 12-16 generations. My wife's family are all second generation Italians and have found many of them on the Ellis Island rosters. I have not been motivated enough to trace her lines across the ocean. My kids always ask me "We know we are 1/2 Italian but what is the other half?" I in turn tell them that they are Americans with a bunch of other stuff mixed in.

So I sent my final payment off to Dreams Unlimited today. Not that there's anything to get too excited about. After all we simply robbed Peter to pay Paul, but we're going!

Seems that DH is the oldest son of the oldest son of the oldest son...all the way back to feudal Germany. His ancestors were minor royalty. If it were still a feudal system, he would be the Baron von Sk8ingfam. There is a town in Germany with our last name and everything. DH has been there. It smells like cows.

I've moved up in the world - my maiden name roughly translates to "poor people on a hill" in German.

Does this mean that I have to bow every time I see you?

Oh carp..... I wonder why not...Observer shows up in the description part for $20 for adults... DH would go with me but probably not into the water.

Maybe we're related! I have a German maiden names as well, and we are also related to everyone we've found. No one has really spent much time searching, but we don't know when the first person came here. Family has been here forever. I think the first may have been a Hessian during the Revolution.

I am 3rd generation American. 7 brothers came over in the late 1800's (over about 10 yrs 1885-1895). Only 5 of them had desendants. My grandparents didn't speak Englash until they started school...so, they never spoke in German to their children.
They came to mid-MO from Southern Germany -- the Catholic part. I have a cousin (2nd or 3rd, I don't know him personally but, my Aunts/Uncles do) that is a Sports writer -- I believe he is fairly well known.....because of the newspaper he writes for.....

I actually have my great grandpa's paperwork from Ellis Island. He came over from Italy by himself at age 13.

That is cool and scarey all at the same time!!!

On my last cruise I did the Alone time and I loved it! Loved it! Did I mention that I loved it!!!

I was considering having my husband and I do one together, and I decided...NO WAY! I never get to be alone! And for the length of the cruise that we are going on, they can survive a few hours without me.
