I just called DCL reservations because I'm trying to get a 2nd cabin, cat 8 or 6. Nothing for me, but there is a cat 4 that just got cancelled.

It is slow here this afternoon so I am working on my door magnets. I would post them but I don't know how.:confused3 I did them in PowerPoint and Word. I am trying to weed them down to 5 because that is what comes in a package of magnetic paper. Boy, that stuff isn't cheap.

Now to finish my dress this weekend and start on the FE gifts. I may end up buying a dress. I have over $100 in credit/gift certificates from Macy's. My sewing machine keeps acting up. I get a couple of seams sewn and it jams. I already had it in for repair once. This is going to end up being more expensive than buying a new dress, but I can't find anything I like. I am not 20 years old and 100 lbs. anymore (was I ever 20 and 100 lbs, oh yeah like 30+ years ago:lmao:).

The girl's father was into geneology stuff. On his Mom's side they have a book that was written about the family. For Christmas one year she gave all the siblings (6 of them) a copy. It had been out of print for years and she had to have it reprinted. It was pretty interesting. MIL was a member of the DAR so she had her family tree back at least that far. There is some family connection to O'Henry, but I think it was not blood (step-family) and the Grimes apple was named after their family.

On my side it is much more difficult. My grandfather was born in Russia and my grandmother was an orphan.

I'm very late to the party and wondering if this is the place to jump in. After having been on waiting lists for pretty much forever we got extremely lucky and got offered a space on this cruise and I got the booking two days ago!! I'm still walking around in a dazed state that we're going to be on the Panama Repo!! It's going to be my son who'll be 6 and myself. We are both very happy!!!! :goodvibes

WELCOME.

Be sure to read the first post, but I have a feeling you already did.

This is the perfect place to jump right in.

Hi everyone. Happy Friday.

I am getting so excited. I can't wait to hear what the WBers have to say when they get back.

As of today, we are PIF! :cool1:

Hi everyone,

Firstly, welcome lauritagoddess! I know how you feel about the dazed state. I booked into a repo kinda last minute, and it didn't seem real. Congrats and welcome aboard!

Does anyone know if the Howard Johnson pool (the main one that they are transferring into a pirate themed pool) will be done by the time we get there in August? Roger, Monica, anyone know? I tried emailing them and they haven't responded. TIA

They are really trying to get it done by July.

Here's a snippet from the info on their planning boards
http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=125

We have a very conservative estimate that Castaway Cove will reopen at the end of July, and that its hours of operation will be 9a-12a for the whole of the facility, with the Pirate Ship closing at dusk [Speedy's Sprayground, the Wading Pool & the Hot Tub will remain open for use until 12a].

If you want more info, email Lorealle directly. She gives her email in the link above. She even posts on the DIS (when they let her) so tell you are from here.

Everyone have a great weekend. DS and I are going camping this weekend and I haven't even packed yet. Heck I don't even know where the tent and sleeping bags are. Better get started.

Have fun Monica and be safe!!

Congrats for securing a spot on the Repo! I will have a six year old son on this cruise as well (plus two older boys). The kids are starting to get really excited about the cruise and my DS10 begain reading a book on the Panama Canal last night.

Is the book your son is reading written for kids? I have been having trouble finding something like that for DS9 to read...

Ummm, has anyone noticed that the current voting for the PJ Breakfast and Pirates Brunch both have the same day coming in as the most popular right now? Do we have breakfast twice that day? :confused3

It would be better to have them on separate days, wouldn't it?

Schucks!

How'd you kno I spent 80 bucks on Alicia's engagement ring?

Oops... actually I proposed WITHOUT an engagement ring!

SO - I guess technically I WAS a real cheapskate!

A little more info/comments...

It looks like the PJ Breakfast has almost equal votes for Sat the 23rd and Sun the 24th. I think someone mentioned earlier that the Sunday might not be the best day for PJ's for those going to Mass with Fr. Mike. :)

The Pirate Brunch has the most votes for Sun the 24th, with the 27th in 2nd place.

I think the plan is for the voting to continue for the next week, but this is just a "heads up" that we probably don't want them both the same day!

And don't forget that if you already voted for a PJ breakfast day, you can change your vote if you want to.

Hi everyone.

I don't know how many here read the community board. I posted on a thread there last night and this morning. My views/opinions were in the minority. There were a few posters that shared my views. One of those posters made a pretty nasty (racist) comment to another poster.

Well it seems, that some DISers now think I'm posting under two names and that I'm the person who made the nasty remarks.

I just wanted to let you all know that I did not make nor do I agree with those comments. In the 7 years that I've been on the DIS I've only had one name.

I started a thread on the community board to try to clear things up. I also PMed the person that was insulted.

At this point I don’t know what else I can do.

Sorry so late but just do not take it too seriously. You just hang out w/ us and we will all be fine.:cloud9:

Happy Birthday Jimmy!!!

We have an incredible book on our family history. I was shocked so much of my information was in a book I had never heard of. Someone has been tkaing good notes.:)

Did we ever get a DEFINITIVE answer on upgrade costs?
I want to find out once and for all if I snag one of these cabins that are coming open that I will pay the same tier pricing I did originally or not. DCL says current price. Anyone know for SURE? In other words is there the possibiity those of us who are already on the ship could pay less than a new person coming onboard?

At this time and stage only DCL will know that, in 2005 I firstly booked a lower Cat room, they didn't publish costs in advance ,and therefore I had to be careful on price, as soon as I obtained it I released I could have gone for a CAT 4, so I asked dreams and a few weeks later I was upgraded to Cat 4, at the same, tier level as the first day, but I do not think that would be the case now at this late stage, with any released rooms at a far higher tier.

Albeit as I typed this I thought, I upgraded from Cat 4 to Cat 3 for 2009 and that was also on first day tier, but again a long way off the cruise.

For every other cruise I've ever been on, the upgrade price is set as CURRENT price. I don't see why DCL would change that. They make more $$ that way.

If you have for example, a Cat 5, and are offered a Cat 3, you'll pay the difference between what you paid for your Cat 5 and the current cost of the Cat 3. The definitely won't have you pay the difference on the Tier 1 price of the Cat 3.

Speaking of Cat 3's and such.......the Moms and I have a "standard" Cat 3, toward the aft.......and other than us, we've not heard from anyone having any of the rest of the Cat 3's....nor the 2's & 1's. I don't believe it's possible that none of the rest of these have DISers in them.
They must be hiding from us.
