Jumping in after lurking - we are officially registered with the site. Just can't keep up with everyone.

My DD has gone to the kids site, I am very anxious for my kids to find friends - I know they will. Always do on a cruise. (DS 12, DD 9).

Have they begun sending out cruise docs yet? I always forget stuff, but it seems to me we usually get them pretty early.

I cannot believe this trip of a lifetime is around the corner. When I was a little girl, I dreamed of going thru the Panama Canal. I used to read Richard Haliburton...(he was kind of an Indiana Jones guy in the 20s) and he actually swam thru the Panama Canal as cargo. If anyone can find his Book of Marvels, its a great story for the kids.

We have been ordering PC DVDs and books, etc. My kids will learn if it kills them!!! My son is working on his Merit badges - I bet something on the canal will fulfill some requirement.

It will be very ironic for DH and I to set sail from LA. We were both raised there, got married there, and lived there b4 kids...about 34 years. Haven't gone back but once. My kids have never seen it. Kind of a full circle, circle of life thing!!

Hey glad to see you back:yay: :yay:

Did anyone watch the Derby yesterday? It ended up being a nice day, a little chilly. The race was great! Big Brown came from the 20th post to win the race. Eight Belles (the filly) placed 2nd, but collapsed after the race with 2 broken front legs and was euthanized 8 minutes later. It really put a damper on the race.:sad2:

I was watching that and just cried. She did such a great job on the race. I feel so bad for the families involved in her care.

I'm not even a racing fan, but when Darren told me about this yesterday I cried as well:sad2: :sad2:

That's me right? Although the ID is wrong. But I know of a Luv2Travel on the DIS but I don't think she's cruising with us. And there's another Monica, but I believe she's got MK in her ID.

I am pretty sure that it is you:) :goodvibes :)

Has anyone used the gym on the ship, additionally has anyone done any of the "free" classes they offer?

I'll be in the gym... I've done the spinning classes before (bringing my shoes and gel seat this trip too)

Good news!

Renee, the supervisor at DCL that was working on my issue, was at least able to everything (Both excursions and Palo) booked manually for us. The IT team is still trying to figure what happened, and fix it so that we can view and/or change things. But at least we are (hopefully) booked.

We are doing the Land's End Coastal Tour in Cabo, and then hoping to head over to Medano Beach afterward, though I have no idea what time my excursion is.:confused3

We're doing the Acapulco City Tour with Cliff Divers.

And we booked the Mangroves, Lunch, and show in Cartegena, but we'll probably end up cancelling that one because we really like the sound of the Mr Emerald tour Paula is working on. :thumbsup2

Now if we can just get them to assign Linda's and my staterooms near each other, we'd be set.

ETA: OK, now it's showing up as reserved even though I still have the error. So I can't change anything, but at least i have something. The Cabo tour is from 11:30 to 1:00, so I doubt we'll make it to the beach. We'll proabably just wander and shop a little bit.
So glad it worked out for you and Linda:goodvibes

I watched it, we had a house full of teens and I made them all come watch it with me. Everyone picked a horse and I picked Eight Belles because she was a girl! It was so much fun to have all of us packed in the Family room yelling and screaming. I was so excited when she came in 2nd! Even the boys were pretty excited that mom's horse did good. Then the teens all cleared out while I kept watching and heard the bad news. I sat on the couch and cried a little. I was so sad (in fact, I am getting teary again). What a sad thing for the trainer/owner etc.

The kids did feel pretty bad that it was the horse I picked and the only lady of the bunch. So they didn't laugh openly at me for crying...that was nice of them I suppose.

I guess that is just the way it is with horses. The kids kept wondering why they couldn't fix her. Of course, they remembered Barbaro, but that didn't end well either. I don't know anything about horses, but I sure wish it didn't have to end that way for her. :(
I turned on the news for a bit Saturday morning and the announcer kept going "I hope the filly wins" "I rooting for the filly":sad2:
I'm sure the kids felt bad as well, just not cool to show it:confused3

I was looking to see who was to blame for this thread moving faster, recently,

OK SORRY!!!!!!!

OH - did I blow it!!!!! All I had on my list was Monica & Trevoy - and I kinda guessed - ??2Travel - SORRY!!!!!!!

The Swim early times were booked ....but they'll open more at the 90 day...the only Swim time left was the 12:30-4:00

The Encounter time was at 2:30 to 4:00

I had to read about your adventure last night. :) So glad that it doesn't start at 3 am anymore!

I wouldn't count on more times opening up at the 90 day mark based on the fact that they do not do that for the 75 day mark for the excursions or Palo. Also, they don't hold back excursion spots for onboard booking like they do for Palo. Even before everyone could book online and we had to call in once they were gone that was it unless someone cancelled. Sorry but I woudn't want anyone to get their hopes up. I see this posted all the time that they open more spots.

Has anyone used the gym on the ship, additionally has anyone done any of the "free" classes they offer?

I am just curious, as I have never been able to work it into my schedule before. (3 day, 7 day mexican & 12 day med) I am thinking I may actually try to use it since I have been seeing a trainer now for 6 weeks (14/15 more sessions till TOAL) and would hate to have wasted the money. Similarly I have never used the pools either. Also, I would love to find those of you who party and hang at Rockn' D and get out there and dance and interact (same for the deck parties) as I have always just watched from a distance due to being with my dad. :scared1: I know.

I am looking forward to doing tons of things I have never done before on the cruise. Breaking out of my shell. You all seem like a fun group and I am looking forward to my vacation!

You'll find me in Rockin Bar D just about every night. Not a dancer though, but I'll be hanging out.

Haven't used the gym. Walked through it with good intentions though.

Make that a double holy carp!!!!!!!!!!!:headache: :headache: That is the one I wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headache: Maybe I will just stay on the ship!!!:sad2:

Don't stress it. We are lucky to be on the cruise...remember? :) The first two 7 day cruises we didn't go on an excursion at all. We just got off the ship and walked around a little bit. The third I took the kids with another mom and DD and we took a cab out to explore a bit. We had a fantastic time on each cruise and will do so again this time...for twice as long!!! :wizard: Either way, there is no point getting a migraine over something we can't do anything about. I remember the last cruise at 90 days. I logged on right at 3 am ET when it opened and went right for Palo Brunch for 4 while our friends booked dinner for the four of us. I clicked to confirm my resie and never got a confirmation number but didn't realize it until after I had booked our excursion and then went back to confirm it all. The resies had run out when I hit submit at 3:03 am. Yes, I got upset about it but it all worked out in the end. :)

good evening everyone! hope you all had a great weekend. busy here! dh usually has sunday and monday off, but he is working this week, in order to get off for dd's dance comp next weekend. hopefully tomorrow won't be too bad with the daycare kids...ugh! not really looking forward to it!
hope you all have a great week!
nite!!

YAY! How was your ride?
I went for a few hours - 15 miles, lunch, 15 miles. I took 6 of our big-wig donors. It was fun.
I went for a little 7 mile ride today just to check everything out. Everything was good so tomorrow I will probably bump it back to 20+ miles. You sound like you had a fun day.

We have joined the ZIP line group at 2 pm in PV.

Congrats Erin:thumbsup2 We will keep the tarantula entertained until you get back to the restaurant.

My DD did the spinning class. I had a session w/a trainer during the Med Repo and got to the gym almost everyday. Plus walked rather than used the elevators - this was supposed to compensate for indulging in all the yummy food/desserts!!!!!

Everybody have a great Sunday. Today is the last day of 10ds's play (Little Eyolf) at one of our community theaters (I think this is the first time that they have worked with a child. ;) )
It's been interesting for him to work with all new people -- a couple of other theaters ahd recommended ds to this director and she called him for a reading a couple of weeks ago. Last weekend's and so far this weeks shows have been good.
Today our out of town guests (we met them on our ABD this past August) are coming to see the show.
DS was happy last night that oldest DS and dh's parents came to the show -- 10ds dies in the show and he knew that several people didn't want to come because of that! ;) Last summer ds played Jimmy Sullivan (Annie's little brother) in The Miracle Worker and his grandparents wouldn't come see it since he had to cry out in pain as he was being pulled away.....
Wow!! Congrats to your DS:thumbsup2

My entire left side is bruised (leg hips, backside, and ribs) and sore and my back is out..but besides that..i am okay. Could have been worse I am sure...

Thanks for asking tho...
So glad nothing is broken:flower3:

I am off to the grocery store. I am going to actually try to buy food to eat at home this week. I am so tired of buying and throwing away bags full of expired food every week. I have great intentions but then Bill will say "Let's just go get something" and off we go.
We eat out almost every day. Unhealthy and expensive.
I have had everyones buy in so wish me luck.
In the interest of full disclosure, I hate cooking and cleaning up and the kids do not like most of what I cook but going to try it anyway.
We had Subway tonight for dinner:rolleyes1
I'm so out of practice cooking because DH likes to do it (he would hover at my shoulder-it would drive me crazy:headache: ).
Usually it's spaghetti and meatballs when I "cook":lmao:

G'evenin' pirate:s. I biked 30 miles today, now I'm sitting on the deck with a well deserved (ifIdosaysomyself) beer.

DS9 made the travel hockey team - twice the money, three times the time commitment - YAY. DS7 is still waiting to hear.
I would say the beer was well deserved also:thumbsup2
Congrats to your DS9, hope DS7 gets in too:cool1:

I don't think so, Paula -- I've never been to the Derby but from what I've seen it looks like a bigger party than the Belmont . . . now I've never been to the Belmont the "regular" way, only through my friend who owns horses there, so I spent most of the day back in the paddock area having lunch and drinks, and then heading over to the owners boxes before the last few races of the day, so I haven't seen the real party areas, perhaps. Also remember that the Belmont is on Long Island, not really in the city, so you tend to get the real horse lovers (or gamblers) rather than just the day partiers.
My Mom took us to "Breakfast at Belmont" when we were kids. I guess it was a big deal at one time, but it seemed pretty layed back the day we went:confused3

I went for a little 7 mile ride today just to check everything out. Everything was good so tomorrow I will probably bump it back to 20+ miles. You sound like you had a fun day.

Roger, glad you're feeling better:thumbsup2

And that you're helping entertain the tarantula:rolleyes1

All caught up:woohoo:

Imagine my post count if I didn't multiquote:lmao:

It is going to be hard to keep up on the 19th:scared:

I did the personal trainer twice last summer and it was great. Avoid the Metabolism test with Body Composition Analysis - it's just a lead in to try to sell you a fortune worth of detoxifying dietary supplements.

Wow, that is really impressive. My goal is to make sure everyone has underwear!

With your family......that is quite an accomplishment!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Stace there is an Enterprise across from the World Cruise Center and I have reports that there is a Dollar Rental desk at the Double Tree. I will check it out on 5/25 when I head down to San Pedro.

  Good job, went out for my first ride since surgery this morning myself. Was this an all day ride or a couple of hours?

How far did you ride Roger???:confused3 How is the neck doing??:confused3

I got us snorkel sets from Costco too. I should check back and see if they are on special now. I plan on just bringing mask and snorkel. If I end up with extra room then I may add the fins.

The snorkel set isn't a regular item. In our Costco's (not sure if the US ones do this) they'll bring in a company with special products. This was a dive store from the mainland that is going around selling snorkel sets, water shoes, wet suits, holes (sort of like crocs), etc.

We are bringing our own snorkels and masks but will use the flippers on Castaway Cay...
