Hello Everyone,
I haven't been around much but for good reason. My Mom came for a visit and just left the other day. My FIL is coming for a visit this Friday. I played around with my new camera and took GREAT pics. but deleted all by mistake.:scared1: Although I was sad it happened I am glad it happened now and not on the TOAL.

I finally just finished my fish extender. I didn't sew it and hope it will hold up. May not be completly straight........:lmao: but I like it. I put red sparkle discs on the nose.

Believe me I wanted one of the ones they had on ebay. I bought this stuff more then 6 months ago and forced myself to try and do something. It took a long time. The no sew glue seems to be pretty strong.

Hey i like it.... Looks much better than my pile o' fabric sitting in a bag next to my bed upstairs.....

Well Pirates... I didn't think i could do it... but

i cancelled my dd's plane ticket to CA..... (i did apply it to purchase 2 tickets home for dh and i though; before the new baggage fees go into effect)

I'm still sad though a little that she's not going...

Of course what's worse...going and being a little sad or taking her with and chancing that i'll tear my hair out the whole time....:headache:

We pretty much won't see her all summer as she's going to GS camp for a month in July. (we'll only see her on Saturday nights)

If you guys don't here from me tomorrow it's because the internet is down at work and i'm actually working for a change...

See you tomorrow nite at least...for ketchup...

I've never seen this stuff anywhere on the website before. I was actually going to wait and email them tomorrow (they told me to wait until May to check back). If I get the same response, I'll have to ask them to point out to me WHERE on their website this information is given.;)

Good luck and I hope you can get a straight answer.

I Believe, scratch that, I'm learning... That you can keep going long after you think you can't

Ditto ! :thumbsup2

Hi Folks --

With all the discussion about baggage costs, I thought I'd post this great summary that was part of my newsletter from VACATIONS TO GO.

We just returned from Orlando today and only took one bag for three people for four days. We just barely came under the 50 lb limit (after I took out my book and had one of the boys carry it in their backpacks). They also measured my case to make sure it was under some size allowance (it was barely).

Anyway, here's the info from that newsletter:

[FONT=&quot]Escalating fuel costs are also having a negative impact on airlines, and in response, several major carriers have announced additional fees and restrictions on checked baggage.

Beginning in May and with some exceptions, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United and US Airways will assess a $25 charge when passengers check a second bag on domestic flights (US Airways' fee will apply to international flights as well). This fee applies to each leg of travel, so customers will pay $50 on a second checked bag for roundtrip flights.

Continental's new charge affects customers who purchased nonrefundable economy tickets on or after April 5, 2008, for flights departing on or after May 5, 2008 and applies to all domestic flights, plus travel to Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Coach customers booked in the "Y class" of service, OnePass Elite customers, SkyTeam Elite customers, Elite-for-a-Day customers, on-duty active military personnel, first class and BusinessFirst customers are exempt from this charge, and will be allowed to check a second bag for free.

Delta will charge $25 for a second checked bag for passengers traveling on or after May 1st on domestic flights, including travel within the United States and to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. First class and Business Elite passengers will be allowed to check up to three bags at no additional charge on Delta and Delta Connection-operated flights only.

Northwest's new policy is applicable to nonrefundable, domestic economy tickets purchased on or after March 29, 2008, for travel on or after May 5, 2008. Northwest defines domestic travel as within the U.S. and to or from Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Northwest Airlines' Silver, Gold and Platinum WorldPerks Elite customers, SkyTeam Elite customers and passengers booked in Full Fare classes may still check two bags free of charge, and first class passengers may check up to three bags without charge.

United Airlines will charge $50 round-trip ($25 per leg) for checking a second piece of luggage on tickets purchased on or after February 4, 2008 for flights departing on or after May 5, 2008 and traveling within the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. The following types of passengers are exempt from this fee and may check up to two bags at no cost: first class, business class, First Award, Business Award, Mileage Plus Premier, Mileage Plus Premier Associate, Star Alliance Silver Members, Mileage Plus Global Services, Mileage Plus 1K, Mileage Plus Premier Executive, Star Alliance Gold Members and military personnel with orders.

Also on May 5, US Airways will begin charging those who booked on or after February 26 a $50 round-trip fee ($25 per leg) for checking a second piece of luggage. US Airways will apply this fee for domestic and some international travel. Dividend Miles Preferred members, passengers traveling to and from Europe or Asia, first class and Envoy passengers, Star Alliance Silver and Gold status members, active military personnel in uniform with ID, unaccompanied minors and passengers checking personal assistance devices (such as a wheelchair) are exempt from these charges.

In most cases, travelers whose itineraries include a city outside of the US (other than in those destinations mentioned above), as either the origin or destination, will not be subject to the second-bag fee. For example, someone flying on Continental from Austin to Houston and connecting to London would not have to pay to check a second bag.

Please note that if you book your airfare through a cruise line's Air/Sea program, and your assigned flights are with one of the above-mentioned airlines, you will be subject to the $25 fee for a second checked bag, even if your frequent flier program status (Elite, Preferred, etc.) would normally exempt you from it. Only if you request an air deviation with business or first class seats, for an additional fee, will you be able to apply your frequent flier status to your flights to gain exemption from the second bag fee.

For all airlines, baggage is subject to size and weight restrictions as well. Generally, bags weighing more than 50 lbs. on domestic flights are subject to additional fees. Often, weight limits for international flights are lower than those for domestic flights. If your travel plans include flights between countries overseas, be sure to check the airlines' web sites to confirm which restrictions are applicable to your flights, before you leave home.

Other major airlines, including Southwest and American, have not yet announced additional fees for second checked bags, but may follow suit.

Glad we are only flying one way. Looks like no charge because of the one pass elite. Thanks for sharing the info.:)

CABO & PV.

I have posted this before, but on this busy thread it can get buried, If anyone is considering the PRIVATE car hire or Van hire, in Cabo or PV, booked through DCL, you can contact DCL shore excursions NOW, No need to wait until the booking date.

I have Cabo confirmed for myself and PV, for my family and Diane, we will have to pay up on the 19th by Credit card, but its all confirmed Now, no worry on the DCL website that night and the prices are reasonable for a family of four, maybe comparable with a DCL Bus trip.

Well worth consideration.

You can download a form from the DCL website, if considering it, do it now.

Could you explain this a liitle more? Sorry i don't understand........is it a driver who drives you around? Also how much? TIA

Gorgeous pics!

Now, we just have to hope that the high humidity doesn't do a number to our new cameras!

I have a mildly interesting story to share...

Today I went to my Dentist to get a filling fixed that fell out a couple of days ago. He's pretty good - and when he came in he paused to chat with me a bit as usual. So - when asked whats' up with me - I told him we were looking forward to sailing a couple weeks from LA to FLorida. He then asked - if we were transiting the panama canal... I said yes and that we had a group of about 26 going plus a larger group of several hundred Disney Cruise enthusiasts on hand too. He replied that we were very lucky to be doing the trip... he had not taken a vacation that long in too many years.

I believe he was waxing candid... as he went on to share that a woman he had been chatting with today (or yesterday) spoke of how they had wished they had done more fun travel because she had brain cancer. When they found the cancer it had grown to a large size and had crushed the optic nerve causing near blindness in one eye... so she was now considered legally blind. He went on to chat with a note suggesting he needed to slow down and do some fun travel with family and friends.

I then replied we had family and friends in part because we were spending time with loved ones who might be chronicly ill... and so this was in part a plan to achieve maximum quality family time together ... and that we had friends who were fighting bad cancer problems. One friend in particular had renal cancer that had spread to develope into a brain tumor that had to be removed recently. Now her medication was a "for life" thing and cost the health insurance company $8,000 a month! He responded with naturally sober astonishment.

showers%20of%20happiness.jpg

I added that I now look on the times we have as usually precious. Silly how we spend this time too sometimes... but I do pay special attention to nurturing good times while allowing annoying moments to wash over and out of me... for example ... when I recently got another traffic ticket (I tell you - our fiscally bankrupt California government has directed the police to crank up the pressure on writing lots of tickets!)... as I wuz saying... when I got a ticket I took it... sinserely thanked the officer for doing his job to protect us from everything bad ... and I drove off without a real care as to what this was going to cost. And yeah... it is annoying.... but I'm doing a real good job of telling myself ... "so what?".

happiness_formula.gif

At any rate, the moral of this story... a) we are indeed lucky to do such an extraordinary trip... it IS going to be a truly memorable and special thing, b) Life is indeed too short NOT to do things like this ... which is a great reason to have this sort of "fun", and c) in all other respects ... travel aside .... we should all do what we can to relax more on the things that threaten our sanity... while developing more time to wax romantic on things worth living for and enjoying in life. No matter WHAT that might be. SO ... with that in mind I am going to go get me some creamed spinich because I have a craving fer it! And it's gonna put a smile on my face as my tummy humms with pleasure!

SO.... when I stepped out of the Dentists' office there was an elderly lady standing in front of my car - I asked if she needed a lift. SHe said she was waiting for a cab. I asked if she had just seen my Dentist - and she said yes. I told her I had just finished too and that I would be happy to give her a lift almost anywhere she needed to go. So after a little more chit chat she accepted. On the drive over we talked about how we found our dentist and how he came highly recommended to me. Than as we parted we parked and just talked for a spell. It turns out she was nearly 90 but did not really look a day over 70 to me. She really liked that remark - and it was the truth. I was glad to have saved her cab fare and shared pleasant conversation with her.

The FE has arrived! I was so right in my craft impaired-ness to order it. I like it! And it's in lime green!

As soon as I can figure out why I cant post the picture..I will post it.

Thanks for sharing Tom ! I couldn't agree more. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I am also posting picture impaired...how does one post a picture on here?

Desire - you have to open an account with a web host - like photobucket - go there while you your waiting for a reply. I am on my way out the door right now - have to celebrate DH's cake since we didn't do it last nigh - I'm so bad!

Anyway, start a free account there and someone else will be along to tell you how to do it. If not - I'm guessing it will be another late night for me I'll try and come on to see if anyone else left instructions.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Not to mention the tag-team mom possibilities. Our boys will be thrilled.

Think we should switch at dinner some night? Maybe they'll appreciate what they've got... Or maybe not.

DS11 asked if he could be home schooled once. I asked if he thought his teacher or his parents would be the tougher teacher. "Uh, you." That was the end of that idea. :rotfl2:

:rotfl:

I'm still wondering why anyone would ever want to oil an emu. :confused3

The squeeky emu get the oil??

Uhhh Tom... Remember 11yr old group doesn't sign in or out and can come and go.... (and we're not sure they'll even have daytime activities)

Thar be an 11yo mutiny brewing....i call it by say the third night...:rolleyes1

Um. No, they'll last until the middle of Day 4. Think we should start a mutiny pool on the 11 yos?

We could sit by the pool quaffing, :drinking1 whatever, and watch them run the crew ragged. As entertainment value, it has distinct possibilities. :rotfl2:

OK, I just had to explain the whole emu, llama, gnu (oh my) evolution to DH. Throw in a few barenaked ladies and he really got confused (yet interested). "No really, honey, it makes sense on the boards..."

Mine came wandering in too. Heard all the gasping and choking and said he got worried. I also had to explain. I, at least, got a giggle.
