My house last night....... The large piles of hail on still here -- killing my brand new landscaping! Our front yard, driveway, street are covered with oak leaves & branches. Since we are the only ones living on our street I suppose that means that I am in charge of clean up! LOL! There is a pretty good size limb in the street........

I am grateful that we just got the slightly bigger then pea size hail....since a couple of the towns around here got baseball/softball size and I saw what kind of damage that did! :scared1:

I haven't been out to our old house (we just moved into this house 2 1/2 months ago) so, I'm hoping that there is no damage there.......

I told dh that next time 17dd's car is out of the little garage and his is put in! LOL! My Expedition was nice and safe in the other garage!

I read an article about the big New Madrid quake (late 1800s?) once and the fact I remember is that it made the Mississippi River run backward for a while . . . pretty powerful.

I could definitely live without Coors:laughing: but in general a big quake there again with the population density we have now would be devastating.

Although the Coors example was intended to be funny, it is a huge issue.

A person I work with on some multistate projects is the state emergency management chief for a very large southeast peninsular state. He points out (through drills he runs) that most hospitals and other health care run on "just in time ordering". Within the fault zone is a major shipping operation (fed ex?). Without them, how long before hospitals run out of drugs, blood, etc. Without ability to ship via rail or truck across mississippi, how long before food supplies in NYC start running low and food starts rotting in Kansas?

It is a fascinating discussion for us "worst case scenario" types. (Did I mention my DW calls me "Mr. Worst Case Scenario?")

Too funny....I was talking to my boss and a co-worker this week and he was asking me when my cruise was this summer. He had forgotten that we were going through the Panama canal. He said so you're going to start in LA, visit Disneyland and cruise for 15 nights and end up in Florida. He asked if I was going to DisneyWorld. When I told him not this time, he said, "Whew...for a minute there we thought you were a Disney fanatic".

:rotfl: :rotfl: DH's secretary/office manager is the one that convinced me to try a Disney Cruise (I get motion sick and dh couldn't convince me) so, she is just as fanatical as dh & I!

Tyreak and I both love this teacher. However, I was furious with her tonight. I can’t understand why she would have a problem with him missing school to go on a college tour.

I wonder how she feels about the track team missing two days next week to attend the Penn Relays?

That just doesn't even make sense!!! I hope she changes her mind soon!

Okay, Deanna, confession time for me...

I thought you were a Bucky fan for the longest time. Not Buck EYE.

I was excited to have another Badger on the trip...oops!
You are probably not a Badger fan at all...

:rotfl: :rotfl: No, sorry not a Badger fan at all.....you guys often ruin our season!

No, with this group, more like some coconut bras and lots of tropical drink concoctions. But no boat.

Well, coconut bras and tropical drinks.....even I can make those! ;)

Clearly you haven't read my sig......

Why do you think the possibility of being marooned even crossed my mind?

Steph.....hope there's no damage from the hail! BTW, the pics of your new house (from what I could tell) looks like it's beautiful!

Thank you! When the yard gets cleaned up from this mess I'll post a real pic. ;)

Why bother with the coconut bras, if there are enough tropical drinks..... Nevermind, family board ...

Yeah, don't feel much like working today. Have I mentioned that they haven't quite figured out how to make the air conditioing work in our new building? And of course the windows are sealed. 10:22 and it is already evil hot in here. If they don't get it figured out we are going to close early. If only the maintenance guys would leave the HVAC room long enough for me to disconnect a few wires....

While in the Chapel, I questioned whether or not "He" was trying to tell me something!

He might have been telling you to go get doughnuts.

(e.g. No Coors east of Mississippi River)

I'm good as long as I'm on the Sam Adams side of the country.
:)

I'm amazed.....there are so many "smarties" on this cruise. Makes me feel safe because if we end up marooned on a deserted island, we will have a coconut radio in no time!

Smarty what? Pants? Adds?

Well if we have coconut bras and drinks, why would we need a boat? Who would want to leave?

Yikes, I hope all your houses are OK.

Let's see, so far today...eathquakes, fires, hail. Anyone have any locusts to report?

Yeah, thus DH's stress level the last 3 years. He secured a port where 90% of all good reached Alaska. Oh and our largest oil terminal.

Sorta explains why we have about a month's supply of MREs in our garage at all times.

No, but since my next-door neighbor is having his roof replaced today, he is predicting there will be torrential rains this afternoon. He figures it's just his luck it will happen, no matter what the forecast says.

Military parlance for Meals Ready to Eat, which of course is wrong on three counts, you would never serve them as a meal, they can be quite awful, ready- well, they are like twinkies, they never go bad... And "eat", if you love pounds of salt...

We're doing okay in Schaumburg.:thumbsup2 Just a few things rattled on the nite stand and shelves. Thanks for asking Tom.

But at least for once when I ask my wife if the Earth moved, she can answer 'yes, yes it did'.

They look so gross to me, but like my dh says.....you will eat anything after you are stuck out in a field for more than 3 days.
