Just received our kit today here in England - as usual bit of an anti-climax but do not really know what we expect as we know most of the information already. Thought it would have included recommended tipping guidelines as they used to do but never mind perhaps it is there and I have missed it.

Thank Goodness Monday is almost over..... need to tell you all a little story about how my day began... (feel free to laugh at or with me, sympathize or empathize)
I am cat sitting for my father while he and my mother are enjoying 2 months in AZ. Background: I have 2 cats. My father has 2 cats. They don't get along and I have to keep them separated. I only have 3 more weeks till Dad comes home. And I do love animals....most days...

Early this morning about 4 am I was startled by a banging on the door. I thought someone was trying to break in. My heart was racing. I turned on my light and ran into my bathroom where I left my cell phone. The banging stopped and I quietly exited the bathroom with cell phone in hand ready to dial 911. Other than shadows (which were freaking me out) I didn't see/hear anything anymore... I then notice one of my father's cats sitting on one side of a door...very smugly looking at me with "what do you want, I'm busy" look. One the other side of the door was my little monster sitting so innocently. Apparently they were going after each other under the door and my father's cat slammed himself into the door trying to get at my monster. (my monster probably went back at him too) I could have strung them both up... After that sleeping wasn't much of an option. I just had to share the start of my day.... and yes my day did get better...that is for a Monday. It took many hours to calm my heart back down... and I did have my blood pressure checked.. 115/80...not bad for having the beegeezus scared out of me.
Here's to a quieter Tuesday!

Bets, That's terrible. I hate being scared, especially when I'm sleeping.

Yes I certainly can confirm that people were sleeping in the lobby to buy pins.. I have the video to prove it...lol...

Yes there were people sleeping on the decks to reserve space.. it was a lot of fun....

I guess we'll have to see what happens on the WB repo to give us some idea of what to expect!

US raises Threat Level to RED

New York - (AP) - Simultaneous explosions in the Suez, Erie and Panama
Canals appear to be a coordinated terrorist attack. At approximately
12:22 a.m. EDT the first explosion occured on board an oil tanker in the
Erie Canal. Click here for live video. The tanker has broken in half,
leaking over 300 million gallons of oil into the canal which is now
burning and has the canal closed to all traffic. Shortly after 12:30
a.m. EDT a second explosion occured in the Suez Canal. It is not clear
at this time how the explosion occurred, but several ships, including a
Cunard Cruise ship are on fire. Amazingly, no injuries or deaths are
reported. At 12:48 a.m. EDT a container ship in the Gatun Locks of
Panama Canal exploded multiple times, causing severe damage to the locks
and is slowly causing the water upstream to drain to the ocean.
Preliminary damage reports indicate that the Panama Canal will be closed
indefinately crippling commerce. A terrorist fringe organization calling
themselves the All Powerful Reigning Infidel Liberation Fellows Over Odd
Liberating Someday has claimed responsibility.

I'm off to our local library this week-end to see if I can locate the book by Garcia Marquez & give it a try. Not normally what I go for, but generally I'll try anything once!

Got my kit yesterday. I was so excited to see the part about booking onboard activities early for us east coasters.

I booked my Palo, spa, & brunch. Went with the DCL excursion in Cartagena. I also booked discover the canals where you can get off the boat in Panama. I booked the "Kids Drive the Boat" for both DS's. I'm debating the "Room Steward Does Your Wash". Does anyone have any experience with this? Do they use enough fabric softener?

And how sweet was that 50% off coupon for future cruises?

I am so excited that we are skipping those pesky ports like Acapulco..I hear since we will miss the cliff divers... Tom is going to show us how it is done off the back of the boat!

My daughters are going to flip to see Miley Cyrus, I will die to see Julie Andrews, and my sons would love to see Anakin Skywalker in the flesh! Who knew DCL could pull that off??

If you like the tap water on board (we like it too), don't you just need a water bottle to keep refilling?

We like our Platypus Sport - they fold flat when empty and have a pull top lid. I made water bottle carriers out of O rings, and some 1" ribbon.

We don't mind the onboard water either. We bring 4 nalgene bottles and a Camelbak - this way DH can carry a bunch of water for us on excursions.
He's our sherpa.

Does this mean a longer TOAL???? Maybe around Cape Horn? I'd love to see penquins!!! Or can we go in the other direction.... ALASKA! -gotta rethink this packing thing! But no Mickey Bars.... I don't know if I could go without.... except if Nick Cage is there (hmmm), that would be a distraction.

Yours was great -- I think Andrew's fit more into the wish fulfillment department, though, which might have made people slightly more willing to go along, at least until the monorail was going around the ship's Chef Mickey restaurant . . .

Great newsletter.. I was worried at first when i saw the no booze on board thing.. Ecuador would be a nice addition..
