#1 take Monica's advice visit Pinks for a hot dog.

#2 I know we had a discussion (with Jonesing) about what other car rentals are in the area and will they be open on Sunday. I know that there is at least one other (I think that is Dollar at the DoubleTree) in one of the hotels. I am hopefully going down there the day the Magic is coming in (which will be a Sunday) and I will snoop around for car rental agencies.

Thanks. I was wondering about the rentals as well.

It'll be 8 yrs ago, tomorrow, that I had my first heart surgery.

:thumbsup2

Good Morning!

I received mine the other day. I noticed they did not have me as a CC member - showed me not being able to book excursions until June 3rd. I had to send an email to my TA so they can get that fixed before the big day!

Penny

Good Morning everyone! I hope Tuesday is a lot better for those that had a rotten Monday.

This is the email I received from my TA:

I called and your Castaway Club numbers were on the reservation but you weren’t marked as repeats guests (still can’t figure that out). I made sure it was corrected so you can now make your shore excursions and Palo at 12:00 midnight on May 19th.

I also asked DCL to send you a new calendar.

Penny

LOL My cats used to do that too! For such little things they sure could make a lot of racket. :lmao:

Well, Andrew and Tom enjoyed your April Fool's gags. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Uggh.....................I finally got one of our renters out and they have left us a mess and a half. Went over yesterday to see what needs to be done over there. Dumpster already got delivered this morning and the locksmith will be there today. I don't know what you do to locks that you can't open from outside with your key, but you can work them inside with the key.:confused3 :confused3 I had to climb in through the basement window. We ended up leaving it open last night--maybe someone went in and helped themselves to the ton (and I mean that) of trash and clutter they left. Half the basement and attic are piled with trash almost to the ceiling. May end up taking 2 dumpster loads. At least we didn't have to go through eviction with them, now I just have to go through the court to try to recoup my March rent and damages. And here I was thinking I could see a light for some play time on here.:sad2:

We've been redoing our half bath, new vanity and toilet. Need to get the plumber here this week to get them installed. Alan put up crown moulding and new baseboards and had to tile where the old vanity was took down the wallpaper and painted the walls. It will look great when it is finished. The new vanity has a beautiful vessel sink. I told him I knew what he was going to be doing next winter--redoing the other 3. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Also ordering a product called EON to replace all our decking boards. We had it expanded about 5 years ago and our contractor used Choice Deck (composite) and I have hated it since it was installed. The 2 worst things about it is that he used the wrong screws and it really has a mold/mildew problem. Alan has to powerwash it several times a season. So it is not what we consider maintenance free. But the deck itself is wonderful and we get a lot us use out of it. So we are going to relocate the steps this time and expand the concrete patio underneath. Adam is dreaming of a pool in the backyard, but that isn't going to happen.

My remodeling at the store has been VERY scaled down--I never could work out with public works about leaving all my existing entrances--they wanted to close a main one. So we are just tearing down existing interior walls and not expanding the existing footprint of the store. My new dispensers are in and will be installed right after Derby. This will take 2 weeks and we are having a new facade put on the store at the same time. So NO GAS for 2 weeks--YIKES! But it will be a great improvement when that is finished. My extension to my beverage bar is being installed tomorrow--so we have been moving things around inside to have the room for that.

Visited a college for Adam to start in January 09. If he ends up there he will live at home while going, but it will be $4800 a quarter + class fees. :scared1: If he goes for his associates it will be a year and half program. We still need to check out the community college and see about their business program. I am glad we put some $$ back for him to go to college:eek: , just not enough.

Thunder over Louisville is April 12th and then Derby is 3 weeks after that--so work will be keeping me busy as well. Anyone coming to Louisville for the Derby?

We also jumped ship and will taking the Grandour of the Seas for 10 nights during Thanksgiving. Only Alan and I  --we are looking forward to that. Adam didn't want to go. It will be some different ports for us.

Man, I think I wrote a book:rotfl: :rotfl: Just wanted to let you all know, if anyone pm's me for the Secret Mickey, I might not answer very quickly. The Emerald man is busy working on cruises and he is still working on ours--I will pass information when I receive it from him. I hope we are not too worn out by the time August gets here. 20 more Mondays sure makes it seem closer, doesn't it?

And by the way anyone have any free time? I have a nice guest room;) Have a great day and I will check in when I can with you all:flower3:

Good Morning Pranksters!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If Andrew was reading, Tina vision, I think I'm insulted!

Tina vision? :3dglasses Cool, I have super powers!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Now I'm having visions of Tina and Cheryl in black suits a la Pulp Fiction. Can't wait to see them do the John Travolta shimmy dance on the cruise!

Oh, no Mike's having visions! :scared1:

Something like this Mike!!!:lmao: ;) :lmao: I only wish I was that thin.:rolleyes1 I won't speak for Tina!!!:flower3:

BC20female20suit20black2003.jpg

I'm with you Cheryl, I'm not that thin at all. Maybe "Wish Vision" would be better!

sorry, I'm drifting... where's the vote?

Pack it with t-shirts or something to support the inside. But you probably could have figured that one out on your own... :rotfl:

We're supposed to go vote on bracelets someplace? Sheez, what'd I miss?

I did find a smaller Brita pitcher, more rounded. The one I got can fit in the fridge door.

Oops, over on the piratezone.

I can see that lots of April Fools mischief is going on today! :scared1:

Well, I did prank my dd. Found a fake candy wrapper on FamilyFun.com and printed it up and put it around a small bag of Teddy Grahams. The wrapper is for Reeses Sneezers, made from boogers and other things you don't want to know about! Hope I get her good. Hey a parent has to have some fun! :woohoo:

You guys are hysterical! Thanks for the morning chuckle!
Happy Tuesday everyone!!!!!!!

Coral

I only hope that my April 1 writing is as good as Andrew's.....

I did have some editorial brainstorming help.....;)

:rolleyes1

Will we get to listen to the small world song over and over and over and over......???????
-Penny

All during dinner...over and over and over again... a different language with each course...

Does everyone have their international outfit picked out yet? I think we all need to PM Todd so he can keep track of who is representing which country.

I have to admit, that was not my idea, I just loved it. But I won't throw anyone else under the bus, or is it walking the plank.

:rolleyes1

Have a great day and I will check in when I can with you all:flower3:

Hi Paula. Is that your only excuse for not DISing??? :)
Yowza you've been busy. I couldn't read all of your renter story due to the loud buzzing in my ears...

Derby is on my list of things I'd like to do someday, but sadly not this year.

You had me going there for a minute.....until I continued reading.....miniature Monorail.....wave pool....Treasure Island....:sad2:

Happy first of April to you, too!!!!!

The TOAL will be worth it. She'll have great stories to tell and pictures too:hug:

Send one to us:thumbsup2

Welcome back:banana: You missed the croc discussion:confused3 Nothing urgent

Thanks I like it

Thanks Andrew

Please, you were lost without her

The problem with waiting until after work to post :headache: I get beaten out for the white chocolate bunny

Love the monorail convenience:lovestruc Glad the weather cooperated

:rolleyes1 That's what makes it fun:confused3

Yes I'm gullible, Is this for real:confused3

WOW, glad to hear you all ok:hug:

Ok, April Fools, now I get it:rolleyes:

Andrew, did people really sleep on the decks to reserve space for the PC crossing in 2005:scared1:
I had read in someone else's trip report that people were sleeping in the lobby in order to buy pins in the morning:sad2:

Seems extreme to me and we love getting the pins:confused3

You got me Andrew til I read the post from Monica!!!!:worship: :worship: I bow to you this time!!!:thumbsup2

I've also been wondering about the sleeping on decks. I'm sure it will happen.

As for pins, on the Med repo they did it as a lottery. You had to submit your requests by a certain day, then they sent you fish mail to let you know what you got. It was not first come first serve for the limited editions, it was pure lottery. Although I didn't get the set I really wanted (and if I had I would have had to fight Todd for it) I did get all my other choices.

Hi Andrew:

In response to later interview questions they all announced that the Wonder would be based at San Francisco. And that Disney bought Alcatraz as a third West Coast private Island.

Though not known for its beaches, my understanding is that the ship will actually berth their overnight in order to allow guests to enjoy its very unique accomodations.

Dan

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk... Andrew, Andrew, Andrew.... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I got mine today and my dates are correct. 1 good thing today.

too bad it was not 1 more Monday - after my day today I am more than ready to go on vacation (and I just got back from Florida yesterday)

We were in Destin, FL this past week and there is a character outlet store there. I bought one of those tins of pins they sell for 20 bucks. Inside were 12 Med Repo pins. I bought the tin for my DS to trade with on the cruise - I thought they would be plain old cruise pins.

OK So there will not be a monorail going around the ships restaurants at night or typhoon lagoon on the deck, or a new Island called Treasure Island, (original name April fool, rearranged)the DCL telephone 2008/04/01, glad to get some of you going for a min or two, liked the special Pirate zone newsletter, already booked my Palo ressies now, pleased to have got brunch again, hope everyone else was OK. New Port, I bet that was the fools joke!

Real life, go the Panama cruise booklet today, see I have to still hand my passport in for safe keeping and get up at 6am to collect it last morning, nice!

PANAMA

As people have asked,

Yes cruisers were up very early, on the Panama crossing day staking out their claim to space, I had a walk around 5.30am and it was full at the front of the ship (I will be told off by someone 'The Forward'')on decks 9/10 at that time, deck chairs were used to claim space and territory, and whilst DCL were nice in handing out drinks and Continental breakfast, it wasn't too nice up there, I was pleased to have a veranda.

Deck 4 is often overlooked its a nice place to see everything, granted you see one side rather than where you are going but far more civilized place to watch.

Its a long day and people do give up after the first two locks they come in within an hour or so, and then you can get a look in at the front (Forward)

Sun hats, sunscreen, water, lots of photos and batteries required,

PS I am told only 83 people called to book the new ships today at DCL, most were lurkers who do not know my sense of humor.:cool1:

Chrissie -
I'm too lazy to scoll back through 57 threads, especially since I can't remember if it was here or on the main cruise board, but I have a vague recollection that someone called Enterprise (the actual port location, not corporate) & was told that they would be open on Sundays this summer when Magic was in port. Makes business sense to me.

You might want to call them directly if you want to rent a car. Otherwise, drop it off Sat. morning near DL and join us on the party bus.

This message board has really gotten to my DH. He was reading Andrew's "story" over my shoulder last night. (Good one Andrew).

Then this morning he told me he had a dream that we were on the ship sitting on the deck by the pool when I just disappeared. It seems I abandoned him to be with my DIS friends.:lmao: :lmao: I think he is feeling a little threatened. So make sure to make him feel welcomed. He will be the guy in the corner all by himself.:rotfl2: Good thing he doesn't read this board except over my shoulder, otherwise I would be in trouble. He really is a great guy, just a little shy.

Thank you so much for the morning laugh. You had me going, but got me with John Barrowman and David Tennant. Somehow seeing the Doctor on the Magic sounded too good to be true! I can't wait to show my daughter!!!

Thanks again!

Mary Jane

3 and 4. You should get at least 2 votes on this one.

Oh Todd....

Sorry , but "Take What You Can" Give Nothing Back has become a staple to this thread , so I dont think there is a need to change the shirt , you can use the From the Land , To the World for a door magnet ....thats what I am planning on doing ...

Does this mean a longer TOAL???? Maybe around Cape Horn? I'd love to see penquins!!! Or can we go in the other direction.... ALASKA! -gotta rethink this packing thing! But no Mickey Bars.... I don't know if I could go without.... except if Nick Cage is there (hmmm), that would be a distraction.

OK, totally gullible checking in here :rolleyes1 . My jaw dropped to the floor as I was reading the newsletter *as she believes every word as written*. Thanks for the laugh, Tom.

Sorry been MIA. I know it's been too long when I have to look up my password  . Happy Birthday/Anniversary to all that I have missed. Hope all is going well with everyone. I am doing great, plugging along with treatments and will be done with everything May 1st

I finally booked my car rental for the trip. Boy, I am so used to getting great deals on rental cars in FL. No such thing for this trip. Unfortunately, Enterprise is the only rental that has offices in both Long Beach and San Pedro so I am kind of stuck. They are charging me a $40 drop off fee for San Perdo - YUK! I am there for the week before the cruise but have to pick up DH at the airport on the 16th so I priced it out to return the car to the airport then take the shuttle to San Perdo, and with tip, it only works out to about $20 savings. Not worth the hassle to me. Just an FYI - the 6th Street Enterprise office is open from 9-Noon on Sunday. I had heard that they were closed, but it is not the case, and they offer free shuttle to the terminal.

CA question - does anybody know where the closest Trader Joe's is to Long Beach Airport & do all the TJ's sell wine in CA? In Mass only a few do.

Just though we could discuss and vote like everything else.
