ASBO

Anti-social behavior has a wide legal definition – to paraphrase the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, it is behavior which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more people who are not in the same household as the perpetrator. Among the forms it can take are pleading innocence in a built up area.

So this pertains somehow to .... ????

Well you are the first person to answer about the ASBO, In the UK, you are not 'mint' cool until you have an ASBO, its a way of proving your street cred.

Hola Tina... I'm too lazy and/or too old to remember my DIS password. The password is imbedded on my automatic log in feature on MY notebook... and I'm stuck using my spouses' notebook because she PAID for internet access at our hotel. The Marriott charges TEN BUCKS a day for access.... an' so I notice it was easier to start a new temporary ID then guess my way into my old account. I'll resume on the old one when I next hook up with my notebook computer. Besides - the kids are hoggin up my machine playing an "ED-U-tainment" program with it... so I can't gain use of my machine now.

So hoz it goin' in your neck of the woods? Out here in glorious Visalia the view is beautiful from our window. Last nite was chilly - and tonite is sure to be freezing cold - with snow fall forecast for Yosemite this weekend (where we're headed in an hour or so)!

We're actually in the room on the 6th floor (2nd level from the top) and 2nd from the extreme left. And Visalia is on the map below at the bottom edge off 99 and 198. And at the top is Yosemite 140 or so miles away. Not too bad except it's 2.5 hours with slow meandering roads alongside the Merced river much of the way.

Is it really gross of me to say - well at least they are using protection? ;)

No. it's just troubling to me that they're starting at such an early age. When I was 12,I thought you got pregnant by kissing!

Hey Tom! We are good here even thoguh we got s*** last night and none of the roads were salted this morning. I'm so tired of s***, I could scream!:scared1:

I have a relative who had a place in Visalia, well technically my father's frist wife's sister. How's that for TMI?:lmao: I hear it is nice there. Hoping next year to maybe take a road trip west and see the sights. We'll see how gas prices are.

I get to work some overtime this weekend. Working an exam tomorrow and may have to stay late tonight to get things ready. Love comp time!

This reference to ASBO got me to GOOGLE it - out of blissful ignorance I found an appropriate ASBO for some folks in particular....

No, not SWA- I don't even think they fly out of DFW or atleast I've never seen flights out of there.

But the point is moot now- it won't let me book any time! I've tried 3 different times, went thru putting in all the info for all 5 of us, etc. and tried paying- and each time it says they can't -difficulty confirming price for our itinerary. It's expedia which we almost always use. Tried travelocity... more expensive!

try booking with the airline directly, often I'll search expedia, travelocity, etc to get an idea of prices, then go to the airline's website and am able to get the same price or less.....yes sometimes it's higher, but very rarely

I'm tired. Frantically cleaning for houseguests. My dad and his girlfriend are showing up sometime this afternoon. It'll be nice to see them. Going to do DC touristy stuff all weekend. The visit will be really good for me. April 23 will be 10 years since my mom died. Anniversaries usually don't bother me, but this one has been icky since about Christmas (10 years since our last, blah, blah, blah). Anyway. Dad's GF's husband died a week after my mom. They met in a young widow/er support group (they were 50), so she gets it.
ANYWAY... sorry for the downer, just where I am this morning...

:goodvibes Nice banana.
I love the story about your Mom. I'm usually OK with holidays and anniversaries because I can steel myself for them, but it's the everyday, "I did something crazy & want to pick up the phone to tell her" stuff that gets to me. My family laughs a lot, usually at ourselves.

My dad & his girlfriend have been together 8 years. We can talk about Mom around her & she talks about her husband. I have no doubt that she and my dad love eachother, but they both realize and acknowledge that they wouldn't be together if they hadn't lost the love of their life. We all love Dad's GF & are happy he found someone. I didn't want to see him alone forever. It is all frighteningly healthy!

:grouphug: I really think that we should only have anniversaries for happy things.

I am always entertaining myself over Labor Day Weekend. That is when my mom passed away in 2002 from a reoccurance of breast cancer (after 9 years) that metastasized. Hence this vacation. I usually do these vacations with my father, but he met someone in November 2006. I was initally happy for him, then I met her. She is the total opposite of my mother - which I can understand, but she is mean and very rude to me. I feel like she finds me as a threat. Sadly, he married her in October 2007 to my dismay and we hardly talk now. I try but being 3000 miles away makes it harder. :sad1: Glad to hear everyone else has had better luck with their parents new partners.

I actually just got a bunch of videos convereted to DVDs and watched them last weekend. It had my parents last cross country trip to CA - Easter 2002 and our last Christmas together in 2001 when I bought them annual passes to WDW. I am getting teary eyed just typing this, but wonderful memories I am very thankful to have. I have been seeing someone now for a year to deal with my mom's passing (2002), my boyfriend of 10 years leaving me (2003) and my dad's new wife (2007). Very much looking forward to this vacation!

All the stories about what kids are doing these days scares me - and I don't have any. I can tell you that I was very naive growing up. I got my sex education through HS Band. My parents never talked to me about anything. They just instilled the fear of GOD into me about everything. I only rebelled my sophmore year in HS when I picked up smoking for about a year. As for sex - the line they used on me was only the "good girls" get caught. I will never forget approaching my mom right before my Sophmore year in college about going on Birth Control as I just started my first (and last) serious relationship. I was so nervous - she just said don't tell your father. LOL As for the drinking, I was always allowed to drink so I never really needed to rebell. Dad use to give me sips of his highballs (usually 7&7) back when I was 6 (I liked those) then he switched to beer (gag me) and a glass wine at the holidays (ack I look back now and think what were they thinking drinking that jug wine), then there was the teething and braces phase where I use to get a variety of hard alcohol rubbed on my gums. Ah the memories. Best to all of you raising kids I don't know if I could do it!

Thanks for letting me ramble.

Sounds like things are cool for ya....

... get it? Cool? I know ... shame on me! At any rate, I'm actually going up in SEARCH of snow. We've had it kind of warm back home. And our recent skiing thing revealed very little snow by the resort. In fact, th Snow Valley employees I asked said this coming weekend would probably be the end of the ski season for them.... sadly.

And - in Yosemite - they have a ski resort of sorts too called Badger pass. They run some kind of end of season festival when they reach the last official day of the season .. which sort of moves randomly depending on how the snow fall has been - and as luck would have it this weekend is also the closing weekend for Badger Pass! SO we lucked into a closing festival on sunday!

Aside from that... it's a simple weekend we have planned as the high point of the spring break. We hope to make it to the Ansel Adams photography walk I reserved for tomorrow. Julianna will use the pocket digicam while I'll shoot my DSLR on the walk. I look forward to this with real enthusiasm as this time of year SHOULD have lots of snow melt feeding the water falls in the valley. I am really hoping for spectacular shooting conditions. Maybe something like this one below:

00SW-01-05-Yosemite-Falls.jpg

If not ... then we'll just make do with the simple things that are sure to be there in the valley this weekend.

It appears we have two threads running at the same time, will the last person over here, switch off the lights and remember to close the door behind them and lock it.
