 I hate it when DIS isn't cooperating - first it takes forever to post and then it just disappears!

.
Tomorrow will be a great day for you.:goodvibes And those earrings are gorgeous on you!!!!:thumbsup2
the zits unfortunately are making the rounds....woke up this morning with one on my face....not enough makeup to cover it up :scared1:

I thought you were supposed to be over pimples once you passed your 40's - come on - first we get the curse, then the pain and then we still have to deal with those pesky buggers? LIFE IS NOT FAIR!!!

Hopefully Roger comes on here and posts a link to his blog about the different airports. (the link i have is on my computer at work.)

I'm flying into Long Beach.... Jet Blue... Direct flight for us.....Gonna love the TV and satellite radio. I could have flown SWA but they don't have any direct flights. (I'm not up for another 2-3 hours travel time.) SWA has most of their cheaper flights to LAX. They do go to Ontario but usually more $$.

Long Beach is a small airport so less chance of getting lost for me. The drive to DL is closer than LAX and doesn't look too bad. Hey we've survived DC traffic for over 6 years. LA can't be that different.

:rotfl: Its not the traffic you need to worry about -it's the  nuts behind the wheel you have to watch out for! :rotfl2:

It's still your birthday here....

Happy Birthday Mike!!

One word - EEEEWWWWWW!!!

Mike, isn't it more like this?

PaloSpeedoMike.jpg

ok Tom - is this where your title - Sir Satan Bacon comes from? :lmao: BTW, a much better grafting job!

Thank you! Yes, we are in a RECESSION! I saw something the other day - the S&P top 20 companies that are likely to go belly up by the end of this year and at least one third of them were restaurant or food related, including Krispy Kremes and Chiquita Bananas!

 You guys still have Krispy Kremes?

Hope you're feeling better Stace.... Lungs clearing up?

Still hacking away...and still not 100%....but I feel a whole lot better than I did before.
It's funny how you don't realize how really sick you were, until you finally start to feel better. It's like I've come out of a fog!

Whew! :cutie: All caught up - on to answer some pm's play nice everyone. Be Back later.

OK - so I was going back for something and came across this:

OMG, I've got the same deal going with my MiL:headache: She knows she can get away with a lot because, in her words no less, I'm too polite to say anything:rolleyes:
I really want to be close because we love the same people, but every time I let my guard down she says something to remind me that I'm not really a member of her family:sad2:
My folks go to extremes sometimes to make sure that my DH feels part of the family. Sometimes I want to tell them not to bother cause my DH doesn't appreciate it, but I want my kids to see how it should be:confused3 My folks were a bit annoyed at the way I was treated by his parents. If they knew it all they would be furious. They are still very protective of their kids (even though most of us are middle-aged now:rolleyes: ) Anyway, your comments struck a chord with me. Glad to know I'm not alone with the MiL issues:goodvibes

My MIL once told me - to my face - that her family consisted of her husband and her two kids. She was trying to relate to me as to loyalty to one's family - problem was - DH and I had already been married for over 7 years! :rotfl2: MAJOR CASE of open mouth - insert foot - so now when I "recall" this - she tells me - I don't remember that conversation. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: Right now I'm in the mood to laugh about it. Tomorrow? I may not be. :confused3

Maybe we will bring the sign with us. Altho you would have a hard time missing DH with his mickey glove :lmao: Maybe I cam take a picture of you taking a picture of us!!!!!

It is coming to Orlando next year and I want to get tickets to Avenue Q and Jersey Boys. I am seeing Wicked next month.

Sorry Arlene - pulled an MIA for a bit there - but ok - I will look for the palm tree and the Mickey Hand! I'll also wear a DIS Green shirt I picked up from Sports Authority tonight. Its one of those moisture wick away shirts. I got one sleeveless and one with sleeve with breathability thanks to DH so I should be able to be spotted easily! :thumbsup2

As for WICKED! OMG - your going to  How can you not love someone who is DIS green? :lmao:

BTW, I am going to have to post my WICKED cast signed bilboard. I got it back from Aaron Bros - had it matted and framed. It looks great on my floor. DH still hasn't found time to hang it. Although he did hang my Ducky Williams framed litho that I won at auction! I'll have to post pictures later.

To perhaps put it in perspective for you what I mean- I'd be less worried if my 10yr old or even my then EIGHT year old was for some weird reason grouped with the older teens in the stack. Seriously... I'd worry about them less. (because they are not like her with the impulsivity, not obeying rules, forgetting everything, not thinking about consequences of her actions, etc.) So maybe that helps you understand my worries about this. I had hoped after the last cruise that by the time of this cruise she'd have matured more but nope- didn't happen. :( Last time she was 12 and had a blast hanging out with the 10-12yr old group that mostly consisted of 10/11yr olds........ she had a lot of fun in the lab with the younger (than her) kids. She hasn't changed a bit (except physically) since then, is what I'm saying. I WISH she was more mature. I WISH she was mature enough that I didn't have to have concerns about her being around older teens. At this point I'd rather my 10yr old be with the older teens than her! seriously.....
Have had some of the same issues with my DS. A counselor advised us many years ago that we should give some consideration to who his friends were and to try to help him in that area. She said that eventually our influence would wane and theirs would take over. Well, I've become good friends with his friend's parents and try to invite the kids over on a regular basis so I can keep an eye on things:confused3 I worry less about my 10 year old too:)

PS. Don't worry, I'm not really the exhibitionist that this thread makes me out to be. I'm still trying to figure out if I can get away with wearing a sweater on the Jolly Roger's Jolly Pirate ship!
Me too:lmao: Tom posted a link several thread versions back for a video of the Jolly Pirate ship and it was full of skinny college kids:scared1: Had to remind myself that ours was going to have more middle-aged, pooh-shaped people:rolleyes:

Dr gave me a sample acne cream to try at my last visit. It works really well and doesn't irritate my skin. I think it is called benzaclin:confused3 Nice to know I'm not the only one dealing with acne in my 40s:rolleyes:

Still hacking away...and still not 100%....but I feel a whole lot better than I did before.

Glad you're feeling better:thumbsup2 My bug is gone, now I'm dealing with allergies

If it makes you feel any better, my own Grandmother made the same goof. She was complaining about how my Aunt and Uncle were taking their whole family on a plane to visit Italy. "MY WHOLE FAMILY on one plane!!!" (she was scared to death of planes). Well it only took her about 5 seconds to realize she left out a few people and she rephrased it saying "A whole family on one plane". Even Darren picked up on it and he usually misses everything:rotfl: Gotta laugh:confused3 My Mom and Dad love me:rolleyes1 And I'm my kids favorite Mom;)

I'm tired. Frantically cleaning for houseguests. My dad and his girlfriend are showing up sometime this afternoon. It'll be nice to see them. Going to do DC touristy stuff all weekend. The visit will be really good for me. April 23 will be 10 years since my mom died. Anniversaries usually don't bother me, but this one has been icky since about Christmas (10 years since our last, blah, blah, blah). Anyway. Dad's GF's husband died a week after my mom. They met in a young widow/er support group (they were 50), so she gets it.
ANYWAY... sorry for the downer, just where I am this morning...

Also, Starbucks is going to be hurt bad by the recession (yes, recession, I said it). Everyone says that is one area they will cut back.

Which leaves those of us without a $5/day fru-fru cofee habit with less to cut back on.

At least our jobs are safe. Mine is much more difficult, but pretty safe. Recession doesn't do much for philanthropy.

The DCL special on Travel Channel is full of skinny people too. What's up with that?

Than you!
Thank you to everyone who posted they're experience of laser eye surgery. I've decided to go ahead....after TOAL. As I'll have a week off work, I'll have to plan it for the end of September whilst the weather is usually still good & Lauren is back at school.

Just a quick post as I still have several pages to ketchup as didn't get on the boards last night as we went out for a curry. My dad's cousin replastered our dining room walls & ceiling & as he won't take our money we fed him instead!

Hey M, I am sorry that you are feeling a little melancholy and reflective this morning. It sounds perfectly understandable.
My best friend is dealing with her Dad dating too. It has been harder for her since her Mother has only been gone for 2 years. Companionship is a good thing.
My job is also secure. I have been here almost 17 years and lately they cannot beg someone to stay in the entry level of my job.
I started right out of grad school and that is what was required at the time. Now, I think we are hanging out at the GED place begging people to work here. We have terrific benefits (3 weeks vacation your 1st year), every other benefit you can imagine, and after you put in some years you can make close to $100,000. It is a good work environment etc. They are just recruiting bottom feeders and then cannot imagine why they don't stay. As these people support me, it hurts me too. I am just appalled at the work ethic of the 20 set these days.

I am having to post in the dark. I decided to come in the office since the Dr is across the freeway from my office. Apparantly we have motion sensors on our lights and since I am just sitting here, all the lights went out. Guess that is what i get for coming in at 6:00am.
I know all I am going to do is explain my face all morning. I am a bit irritated that all of my coveted supplies seem to have been pilfered. Just cause I am only here 1 day a month does not mean I do not deserve the good stuff. :lmao:

I also am pretty darn happy it is Friday! This means a weekend of soccer and catchup at the house but that is ok too.

Have a GREAT day everyone!!!!!

It's funny how thoughts of one's Mom can sneek up on ya. 10 years...sucks...
I was remembering the funniest thing about my Mom the other day. I had some giant wad of grub on my windshield & pulled over on a side street to get it off. She hopped out of the car with a kleenex to get it off for me. When she was done I sprayed the washer fluid & put on the wipers. She got back in the car next to me. When I turned to talk to her, she was covered in washer fluid. Drops all over her face, sun glasses, hair, shirt. She never said a word, just sat there dead-pan. I just bust out laughing & could not control myself for the next hour. Thinking about that the other day caused the same outburst of laughter.

Here's a smiley for ya to laugh...:lmao:
Here's a hug...
& Here's a dancing banana... (do with it what you want)

Morning all.. Sorry I have been MIA but between life, and Geoff's Eagle ceremony planning and end of qtr, things have been busy..

But in line with all of the talk about recession and job security.. I have a new job.. I will start on April 7 , leaving old one on April 3..;)

M- I still think about my parents too. I try not to remember my Mom as she was in the later years, all sick etc, but before that when she was young and healthy and vibrant. My Dad is harder to open my feelings about as he passed only a few years ago and we were going to go to F&W festical together .... :grouphug:

Gonna ketchup some and be back..
