Hopefully Roger comes on here and posts a link to his blog about the different airports. (the link i have is on my computer at work.)

I'm flying into Long Beach.... Jet Blue... Direct flight for us.....Gonna love the TV and satellite radio. I could have flown SWA but they don't have any direct flights. (I'm not up for another 2-3 hours travel time.) SWA has most of their cheaper flights to LAX. They do go to Ontario but usually more $$.

Long Beach is a small airport so less chance of getting lost for me. The drive to DL is closer than LAX and doesn't look too bad. Hey we've survived DC traffic for over 6 years. LA can't be that different.

Hey on another note...

SNA is closest airport right? But I looked at the flights and it cost a bit more from here to SNA than from here to LAX.
is either one easier and/or an "important" amount cheaper or more expensive than the other to get from airport to disneyland? I mean I don't want to spend more on flight to get to a closer airport- if the flight is cheaper to LAX and even though it's further away maybe it's bigger and has more options for transportation to disneyland? anyone help me out on that so I can make a decision on our flights?
(I have to also consider that first me/3 kids will be flying in and need to get to disneyland- HoJo's actually.. and then a few days later DH will have to do that also- on his own)
help please!

Here is the LAX Airport blog with most of your travel options.

Make sure that you check out the Grayline link at the bottom of LAX

You know I am so naive. I just cannot imagine that happening although here in Dallas they just caught a 12 year old dancing in a strip club. :sad1: Of course I am sure no parent oversight anywhere.

The TV was on but I wasn't really watching. Caught the tail end of a news report about a 13 yr old madame. Not sure if it was here in SF or somewhere else. She was the head of the prostitutes and very heavily involved in recruiting 11-13 yr olds. Scary, scary times.

Saw a 12yr old girl on the Maury show. She had a 5 month old baby and was testing a 13 yr old boy for paternity. He admitted they had been having sex for 2 years. Turns out he wasn't the father. :scared1:
ack!
But I don't think that's the NORM... well maybe in some areas but certainly not here! Around here everyone is over protective parents though. Like all the other 13/14yr olds in her 8th grade aren't allowed to date yet, parent or teacher supervision all the time, etc. we're overprotective sorts around here apparently. and I like it that way. :rotfl:

I had a tiny bump on the side of my nose that turned out to be basal cell cancer. Had to get it surgically removed on Monday which left a pretty big hole on the side of my nose. Plastic surgeon got creative on fixing and I look mighty pretty these days. :rotfl2:

Oh wow!
scary........
I'm sure glad you are okay and hope you heal fast! :)

I love the Long Beach airport! It's so small, it's impossible to get lost....and the luggage comes out outside!

Sorry I've been MIA. Still catching up after company and having been sick. I am really hoping I can get caught up and stay that way starting next week. I feel like I'm missing everything!!

Well I'm leaning LAX because it's cheaper...... if it was just one flight ticket no big deal but when it's times 5 it adds up quite a bit yanno?

You've been MIA too? I just came back and trying to not disappear again. LOL hope you are feeling better!

But I don't think that's the NORM... well maybe in some areas but certainly not here!

There were kids doing it at 11 and 12 back when i was in Middle school. (many moons ago)

My dsis who was 4 years younger than i had one freind in 8th grade who had already had 2 abortions even....

It's definately sad...but true...

I think i have a different take on most things though because i hung out with my aunts friend when i was as young as 11. (she was 4 yrs older than me but some of her friends were older than that)

I won't lie...we drank.... we had fun... I guess i'm lucky that my dd doesn't drink yet and she already hates smoking as much as i do....

Hi everyone, just thought I would check in. I had a busy week this week - even though I am off for Spring Break, my own two kids keep me hopping. My ankle is mostly better now, Physical therapy has done wonders and I am now walking again normally. Still can't run yet but hopefully within a couple of weeks I can start running again. Been thinking I may sign up for the Suntrust Half Marathon in November as a goal or maybe I will just aim for the 8k and try the Shamrock half marathon in Va Beach next March.

Tomorrow we are taking the kids to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. DH works for Wyeth Pharmateuticals (makers of Advil, chapstick, Alavert to name a few). Anyways, employees get free tickets for May 10 but if you pay an extra $10 you can upgrade to a Va Fun Card and basically get a scaled down version of a season pass. So, we thought we would head to Williamsburg tomorrow. Its supposed to be almost 80 here tomorrow so it should be a great day for it.

I have read a few of the posts about the Stack and the age groups and how they are split. My son will turn 13 right before we get on the ship. I think 13 year olds should be allowed some time in the stack at certain times during the day and the older kids have other options available to them. I do agree OQ would be cool for them HOWEVER my son is a gamer and if there are computer games & the like available that is where he will be. I also agree that the ages should be something like 12-14 yr olds then 15-18 year olds. I also think that a parent should have the option to place their child where they see fit if the child falls in the "in-between" ages - like those kids that aren't quite the right age but are already in middle school or high school.

I think as parents we need to be diligent and keep our kids well informed of what to do if........scenarios. I also think this is another reason why our cruise thread and mini meets are important. Our kids can get to know each other and we can get to know each others kids - we can all watch for out for them together - it really does take a village!

Everyone have a great weekend!

I had my first beer at 14 and started smoking that same year. Never did develop a taste for beer :headache: Finally quit smoking 10 yrs ago.

Opinions Please!

The lanyard tags...their background...Dis green or other color?

Chrissie

I'm not crazy about the Dis Green, but it does show up well, especially as a background for black print. The easier the tags are to read the better. Blue and Dis Green together is nice:confused3

DD needs some answers for her Homework assignment. If anyone is interested inhelping???
place in order the importance of these inventions with 1 being the most important
toothbrush, car, microwave, cell phone, personal computer

Which invention(doesn't need to be on this list) is the most important to you and why?

She also needs your age and gender.
Thanks for those of you answering
I keep changing my mind:lmao: 1) car 2)computer 3)toothbrush 4) cell phone 5)microwave
Most important to me- light bulb:confused3 I'm afraid of the dark:laughing: female, early 40s

Looks like my DDs cat, Tammy:lmao: Always getting into things:rolleyes:

EXTREMELY happy to report I get my stitches out tomorrow am.!!!
I am tired of not looking like "me". I have a swollen black eye, 31 stitches on 2 rows on my face, the BIGGEST bright red zit you have ever seen on my chin :scared1: (where the heck did that come from? :confused3 ), I am currently missing 1 toenail and I have been afraid to take a shower for 2 days. I honestly do not think I have looked worse in recent history. Thank God I work from home!!!!!
But the good news is I finally bought my diamond earrnigs!!! I am hoping they draw attention away from the train wreck on my face (yeah, right) :rotfl2:

diamond earrings make everything better:thumbsup2 Everything will heal, hang in there:hug:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

A quick reflection if you will. I thought Alsaka had been too hyped- that there was no way it could live up to its expectations. Boy, was I wrong! The 2nd morning I opened my eyes and truly could not believe what I saw out my balcony window. Just too pretty to describe.

You could celebrate your stitches removal with a nice new necklace!

Sounds like my body! :rotfl2:

Would it be mean to :lmao: ?

Well my 10yr old is in 4th grade now- will be going into 5th grade next year- which is only one year away from being in our middle school with 6-8th graders anyway, and my eldest is an 8th grader. so maybe that's why I think they are "closer" in many ways than my just turned 14yr old eight grader is with 17/18yr olds! SO many things change between those ages. She's not there yet just because she's 14... not by a long shot. She's not a highschool kid yet either.. btw. And she won't be until AFTER this cruise. just wanted to clarify that... repeat: my daughter is not a highschool kid till after this cruise. I don't want people thinking I wanted a highschool kid with 10yr olds. I really think there needs to be an "in between". There are a lot of differences between 10yr olds and 13/14yr olds but there is just as much differences- and important ones.. things I don't want my kids learning/experiencing/seeing.. between 13/14yr olds and 17/18yr olds. Both fears/opinions are valid- yours related to 10yr olds with 14yr olds and mine with 14yr olds with 17/18yr olds. yanno?

I'm totally not arguing. My logic was that 14 year olds spend time with 18 years olds in school every day. Heck, I started HS at 13.

Wanna be really freaked out? I met DH at 14.

Saw a 12yr old girl on the Maury show. She had a 5 month old baby and was testing a 13 yr old boy for paternity. He admitted they had been having sex for 2 years. Turns out he wasn't the father. :scared1:

I'm the mother of sons and I'm looking for a daughter to lock up!

Republican bank account and Democrat social life.

Yeah, that's why I married across party lines. ;)

If you're interested, you can actually drive to DL from LGB without ever getting on the freeway. Super easy and doesn't really add much time to the drive.

Mike, isn't it more like this?

PaloSpeedoMike.jpg

August is really good for our calandars. I vote for August - and better if not quite so close to labor day. And even better if there are a few ports WE have not been to lately (or ever). Ya figure we'll get a good sailing on a new ship with all that?

At any rate - today we didn't get the Wicked deal.... DrAT! However, we had a wonderful Daddy + Daughter day of exploration and shopping. e skipped the beach due to the heat at one point and the coolness at another time of the day. However, we spent some time reading in a huge library and shopping. Tomorrow we'll embark on a trip to Yosemite for the spring melt and likely heavy waterfall run off. I may be gone for the weekend - as I don't know if our hotel will charge for internet access - or if we'll even have any. SO may I bid one and all a wonderful and safe weekend to come. And may I leave ya with another edition of 7 questions to wind down this 4th redition of our meet thread.... as I'm sure monday will bring us into TOAL meet thread #5!

i0EDEE987-E6C9-4641-85BF-D8A0BDB2D818.jpg
OK... before I turn in tonite I'll try to come back and reply to these 7 questions!

1) What is your favorite flavor of ICE CREAM or substitute favorite DESSERT

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (although the cookie dough soft serve on CC was really good)

2) If you could have any car as your own "FREE" to use for a year - what would it be?

Toyota Highlander Hybrid

3) If you could visit any one place on the planet for 7 days - what destination would you choose. All expenses paid however, you cannot take any physical souveneers back with you.

Tough.... like the exotics, Hawaii, Africa, etc. but given the parameters, would probably end up with Galapacos or Antartica as my choice.

4-5-6) If you had Aladdin's lamp and 3 wishes... what would be your 3 wishes? The same limitations apply as in the Disney version - you can't raise the dead, you can't make someone love you, and you can't wish for more wishes.

Family health, personal wealth and well, we don't discuss politics or religion....

7) Tell us something about yourself that you've never posted here before.

I love to learn. (BTW, groundhog question)

The one that people freak out over that I just don't get is Dunkin Donuts. Their coffee is vile. Way too acidic. DH tells me its because I drink it black, not "regular" which is Dunkin'-speak for light beige with 12 spoons of sugar.

I don't get the DD thing either. There are 3 gas stations at one intersection near me, one is co-branded with DD and their gas prices are often $.10 higher than the other two, yet their pumps are always packed. Guess DD is that much of a draw....

Also, Starbucks is going to be hurt bad by the recession (yes, recession, I said it). Everyone says that is one area they will cut back.
