8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #4

So, just got back from the doctors (had to see a partner because my doc was booked)... she's not really sure what it is & ordered a brain scan "just to be safe". After I scrapped myself off the ceiling, I called my friend who manages the MRI center where we work. She gave me a million reasons why it's "no big deal"... getting scanned tomorrow at 2:30...

My daughters husband had to get his head scanned due to sinus issues.Never found anything. and the month before her youngest had his ear scanned when they found out he couldn't hear in that ear. The tech recognized him and let him stay in the booth and tell his dad to hold still etc. He had a ball telling Dad what to do. You will be fine. DH is due for his next month.

OK where the heck is spring? It's 30 freeking degrees. Aren't these south parts supposed to get spring early? It's 33 at my Alaska house and it's only 2 am there.

Don't worry, hazy, hot and humid will be here soon enough and leave you dreaming for 30 degrees....

It's amazing how your whole day can turn on a dime ... was awakened this morning by DH, who came home from work early and woke up our oldest DS at 5:30 am, why would Dear ole Dad do this to said child you ask ... why because it's OPENING DAY and the Red Sox game was televised starting at 6:00. I suppose it's a lot worse for those Oakland A's fans ... those poor folks had to wake up in the middle of the night

Before he left for school ... my youngest shared a joke with me ... "Mom, what kind of rat likes pie?"

When I got to work I was grinning from ear to ear ... first at my DH and DS and their unfailing loyalty to their ball club ... then the Pirate joke from my youngest. Just had my Mom-heart full today ... then I checked the home email. This is where it all gets dumped into the potty ... I got an email from the company that I've been interviewing with ... and I didn't make it to the next round of interviews Got the standard line that my qualifications were impressive, blah, blah, blah ... I work in HR, and I've written many of those letters over the past 13/14 years and they all boil down to one thing L O S E R

So, anyone out there want to pull up a chair and enjoy some cheese with my whine this morning I hate interviewing ... but I hate my current job more ... so I'm back to sending out gazillions of resumes

DH is a little worried that I'm obsessing about the cruise
He's afraid I'll be disappointed.

I am afraid that it won't be exactly as I have in my mind.

To me, I'm just looking forward to a great cruise, some interesting ports, two weeks of no blackberry, no work.

If y'all happen to be fun to be around, its a bonus... If not, I'll just wear the speedo and no one will talk to me.....

So, I have to silently chuckle at all the speedo references. DH actually owns more than one! No, he doesn't wear them to the beach, but he did swim in HS and college & runs triathlons.

Now he says he is saving them for when the kids are STs and he can totally embarass them by showing up at the neighborhood pool party.

I am beginning to wonder if the speedo conversation comes up in every meets thread. Last cruise, we had a running speedo joke, and one family actually bought a bright yellow one to bring on board. They took it around to have it signed, but Mickey wasn't allowed to! However, they did get the Captain of the magic to sign.

Finally got my blood work back and the doctor has put me on a daily preventative medicine (allopurinol). I can't start taking it until my current flare-up has completely receded, but was told that this should prevent flare-ups altogether. This was great news as I can now get back into some sort of regular exercise program.

I read in the paper today that tart cherries, as juice or concentrate are helpful for Gout. I thought of you when I read that.

We don't get back till night before school starts either, but I can't complain. I am sooooo happy they are not missing the first day of high school or middle school. Although my DS would've done just fine, it would've been tough for DD who has a harder time fitting in.

DD missing 1st whole week of MS. She also has problrms fitting in. Keeping my fingers crossed it will be OK.

All our cats are strays/adoptees so no fancy names, but DS has named a bunch of them after artists. We have Vincent VanGogh, Norman Rockwell, Claude Monet and Jackson Pollack. He helped my mother name two of her cats Frederic Remington and Georgia O'Keefe. Their "call name" is their first name except for Remington who is usually called "Remmy". Our non-artist cats are Dustbuster and Tuxedo (not very unique!). My mother's tuxedo colored cat is named Marlena after Marlena Dietrich.

That is my 1st name except it is spelled Marlene, like Marlene Dietrich spelled it. Marlene Coral - I wish a lot I had a simple name like Carol Marie- or something everyone knows how to pronounce. BTW, Corral is a pen for animals- not my name. I swear I get that so much.

The 1st "scoop" they took apparantly got clean margins so we went off to the plastic surgeon. After much discussion about the best way to repair the crater on the side of my nose- they came up w/ creating a "flap" from my cheek instead of the skin graf. The residents thought a skin graf but the plastic surgeon said that was the worst thing to do in this circumstace. His explanation made no sense to me, so I just went with it.
I know have 31 stitches on my face and will require another surgery to do the 2nd part. Stitches come out already on Friday. That was earlier than I thought. The 2nd surgery will be in a few weeks. From what I understand it will be worse in the short run and better long term. Since I work from home, it allowed this method.
The weird/sad part is I was the youngest patient by 2 generations there yesterday. All of the companions were my Mom's age but they were there for their parents and my Mom was there for her daughter. He Dr. said I was the youngest patient he would have all week. Lucky me!
Anyway, at least that part is over and was not that bad. Even with 31 stitches I have not taken any pain pills.

Presently 46 going up to 68 here in Chilly Central Florida.. We just has the central air on.. last night we had to switch to central Heat.. This is why everyone is getting sick ...

We understand...we have to switch from heater to A/C nearly every day during late Spring and early Fall, although it can get a lot chillier than 46 and a lot warmer than 68 during the same day. Without the humidity, the air temperature fluctuates significantly between night and day.

I'm sure she'll do just fine. It might take her a bit longer to adjust to her new surroundings but she will.

I'm glad that the "scoop" went well, and here's hoping that the plastic surgeon fixes you up good as new Congrats on being so brave. I think just knowing that I had 31 stitches in my face would have me holding onto that bottle of pain pills w/both hands ... but I'm a huger than huge baby.

Good morning everyone.

The Easter Bunny didn't make it to Grandma's house yesterday morning. DS6 had a crisis of faith. Though, Grandpa's special hot chocolate, and sitting with Grandma disucssing the Easter Bunny made it better. (Not to mention the promise of an Easter Egg hunt at church.)

DD is doubting things right now. On Easter she told me I was the best mom ever because of the Easter bunny, Santa, Toothfairy, Leprechan etc. I asked what she meant and she implied that I do it. I asked if she was mad and she said no. I than told her that once you stop believing no more stuff. So now she is on the fence! She has been bringing it up lately as the kids at school are talking.

I think that with this crowd, there will always be a friend around the corner on this cruise!

We had a room on deck1 the first time we sailed with Disney (1998).

For us it was an upgrade from cat 12, however,i hated the location except for shore days. Since Titanic was farily new in our minds, i deemed us sterrage for that trip (or at least that's how i felt every trip up to the pool decks.)

But if it will save $$$. Well you gotta do what ya gotta do (and hope we don't have any 20 foot seas sloshing past your window)

Gosh, thanks for that bit of sunshine! LOL! First cruise we were going to be on deck 2 but got up graded to a cat 6 on deck 6. Last cruise we had a Navigator's veranda on deck 6, so we will finally be on deck 2 this time.
