Just to let you know I will be flying up to Boston tomorrow and not returning until Sunday... :goodvibes

My DD is getting her Masters from Tufts University/Fletcher college Saturday morning..

I was already warned to bring warm clothes...lol :lmao:

What a milestone to complete.

Indeed it is cold up here, expected to snow this morning and we consider 45 warm these days!

Travel safe.

That & all the engines are broken on both the ships & there won't be any stabilization & we'll all be barfing the entire cruise.

It's funny. We sailed in Dec under rougher than normal seas. While it was quite bouncy. DH and i were fine with the movement. Many in our Geeks group weren't.

Aw, poor guy, that is quite small for a 14 yr old.

Yes, My dd towers at least a foot or so over him (she's almost 15 and almost 5'10")

That's our plan also. Arrive mid-morning Friday, buy booze and last minute stuff, hang at the pool and maybe go to the ESPN Club for dinner and video games (unless there is a semi-official outside the park pirate thing happening).

We'll be there. Save some tarp for us!

We'll be in LA mid-day on the 14th. Staying at Hojo till the 17th. Not sure if we'll do 2 day or 3 day tickets. (i really don't need the 3rd day)

Monica- save some room for me at Fantasmic. We'll come.

I might just save $1400 on the cruise as my DD is really showing us lately that we are better off leaving her home with my mom. (and i really don't mind loosing the $ for her plane ticket.) I just won't spend the money if she's going to ruin our TOAL. :headache:

Deanna,
My DS is 14, but also very short for his age. The teasing is starting to get to him:sad2: I was a bit worried about the teen club for him for this reason. It's good to know he'll have company. I'm expecting he'll hang out with the 13 year old crowd:cool2:

Sounds great, Laurie!

Please remind me if you will be at the Disneyland pre-cruise meet on Saturday, Aug. 16th.

WOO HOO :cool1:

Looks like we'll have a big group. I'm willing to camp out for a long time, especially since I travel to DL often. I want you first timers to experience as much of the park as you can. That's the whole reason why Julie and I planned to pop a squat in front of the Rivers of America for you all. We don't want you to spend all you time sitting on the ground.

I'm thinking of bringing a big tarp or two to help save some space. I haven't done it before, but I've seen others do it and people seem to respect the space up until about 30-45 minutes prior to show time.

Thanks so much, Monica!!! Very nice of you and Julie!!

Andrew is 4'6":confused3 Same height as his sister who is 3 and 1/2 years younger. We've taken him to a specialist and so far the tests are normal. I'm hoping his growth spurt is just delayed.
He has his Dad's sarcastic sense of humor which sometimes gets him in trouble:rolleyes:

My Andrew (who goes by Drew) is very close to this same height. And he only weighs like 75 lbs. And my dd who is 4 yrs and 4 mos. younger, is catching up fast! He will just die if she passes him!

I might have missed the discussion, but I need help! How is everyone getting from the DL area to the Port on Sunday? all the car rental agencies I have looked at are closed on Sunday am?
Is there still plans for a group bus?

Thanks much!

There seems to be quite a few boys in the "13" range. My DS13 will be part of the group. I think he's going to be doing more of Ocean Quest than the teen club. At least, I hope that's the case :rolleyes1 .

This is what I am hoping my ds prefers also!

I've dropped a PM Todd with my mailing address... Thank You for the offer... these would go towards Kaleas' Pre-school teacher ... they don't exactly rake in tons of scratch so I'd encourage them to upgrade to annual passes and naturally cover thier expenses. Let me know how best to proceed (what do I owe ya) and then we'll likely have an accord, C'ptn!

BTW... what brand of RUM does the C'aptn prefer now a days?

Got the PM and replied , you owe me nothing

Captain...

On the contrary, I am indebted to you in this accord ... please accept this symbolic digital RUM KEG image until I can make good on at least getting the real thing to ya!

Thanks again! I have arrangements ta' make - except I'm not bringing kalea into P-school today - rather shes' just going to the Doc and pharmacy with me. OK... I got ta pass the word to Teacher Robin now... shes' gonna be so thrilled!

Cheers!

PS... I just noticed ... the rum keg image above was ripped from a Dr Who site... how cool isTHAT coincidence, eh?

Laurie can speak for herself, of course, but my recollection is that she is coming in on Saturday the 16th and staying at the Radisson near the port . . .

Yes, we are still planning on the pirate bus . . . if you look at the pirate zone, you will find more information there. Basically we will get a real estimate of how many are interested in May or so and give everyone the final prices then, based on how many are doing it.

Thanks for the quick response Captain and Bellelinus!!! I just went over to login on the pirates to look for info there. We are definately interested. I am home sick from work today with this horrible virus:scared: , so I figured I would use the time to do vacation planning.....:cool1:

My Drew is the same height, but he's 9 and about 64 lbs.

He had a hockey practice last night with next older division (Pee Wees, 11-12 year olds). Good golly they were HUGE!

Have a safe trip Liz. Thanks for checking in with us so we won't worry.

Congrats to DD.

Whenever we are at a school function or event, and get a chance to see Drew in direct comparison with so many others his age, it's always a bit shocking. But luckily, his group of friends mostly tend to be on the small side too....so at least he blends in with them.

Have you tried to use a different charger? Sometimes the contacts on the charger get dirty or bent and even though it appears to be charging (which is really just the phone saying there is a connection), it may not be. If you have a problem with this one, tell AT&T you think you have a charger problem. They ought to give you a replacement.

BTW, on newer phones, you don't need to drain the battery before recharging. Newer batteries do not have the 'memory effect' like the old ones did.

Yep, already tried different chargers. My battery would drain after 1 day. Used to last about 5 days since I don't use the phone much. And no go on the replacement charger from ATT, they already told me I was on my own for that. My biggest pet peeve is that this phone was discontinued about 3 years ago but since they still have some in the warehouse, they just want to keep replacing with the same model unless I upgrade and commit to a new 2 year contract.

That's the situation I was dealing with last year with DS. Although I held off buying airfare because I didn't know if he would be traveling with me. Ended up leaving him home and taking my mom. Had a great, relaxing trip and he survivied without me.

Lance Mackey won the Iditarod this morning. That's him with his 2 lead dogs, Larry & Hansom. No one has ever won the 2 big sled dog races back to back in one year (Yukon Quest & Iditarod). Mackey did it this year AND last year. Amazing.

We got up this morning to listen to streaming radio. As DH pointed out:

We are not too odd for giving up sleep for...
- the super bowl
- the world series

It gets a bit stranger for...
- the Olympics - winter and summer

But...we're pretty much totally cracked for...
- an ECHL hockey team
- Dogs pulling a sled to Nome
