Same guy who named your streets must have been out drinking with the guy who named our streets. The bank I used to work at was at the intersection of Ho and Hum Drives. :confused3

:lmao: :lmao:
In San Diego, we had friends who lived on Foursome Drive.

Their neighborhood had a golf theme.

We'll be at HoJos on the 15th & 16th. Unfortunately, I think we'll only get to do DL on the 16th.

That's our plan also. Arrive mid-morning Friday, buy booze and last minute stuff, hang at the pool and maybe go to the ESPN Club for dinner and video games (unless there is a semi-official outside the park pirate thing happening). If you join the ESPN Club online before you go, you get a free game card and a discount on dinner. I think the kids would like that and as I recall there is a bar upstairs in the video game area. :) Wanna come?

I may need someone to save my bar stool...

That & all the engines are broken on both the ships & there won't be any stabilization & we'll all be barfing the entire cruise.

read your cruise documents...people should riot and demand their money back if the ship misses a port...no they shouldn't...yes they should but only if the cruise is a once in a lifetime thing because they worked overtime to take it...no they shouldn't... and I'm an expert on nautical engineering...

I wanna live there!! or maybe on the corner of dazed & confused.

I'm just trying to be honest about being a misanthrope.

WOO HOO :cool1:

Looks like we'll have a big group. I'm willing to camp out for a long time, especially since I travel to DL often. I want you first timers to experience as much of the park as you can. That's the whole reason why Julie and I planned to pop a squat in front of the Rivers of America for you all. We don't want you to spend all you time sitting on the ground.

I'm thinking of bringing a big tarp or two to help save some space. I haven't done it before, but I've seen others do it and people seem to respect the space up until about 30-45 minutes prior to show time.

We'll be there. Save some tarp for us!

I want to come! We were thinking of skipping it due to the crowds, and being on a weekend. We were able to do the Fantasmic balcony last time, but I would love to meet up with the group before the cruise. Even if its just to say hello!
We will be at DL 12-16, so I guess there will be plenty of time. I just need to keep track of the meets!

I don't know that I'd wanna hang out on Ho Corner. :scared1:

yann-no how tough it is to get an image?

Yes, but those have to be used by early May. These tickets are good until Sept.

By the way, I'm still contemplating whether I'm going to upgrade to APs or not this time. If not, I'll have 2 tickets with 2 days left on them. I'll let you know.

cool!

Well.. actually Disneyland just came out with 5 day hoppers for the price of 3 day hoppers ($169)... plus the 5 day hopper comes with an early admission ticket. If ya don't need 5 days worth - then you can still SELL the unused 2 days of the hoppper on ebay! Or I would be happy to buy one pair off of someone as I was hoping to help one of the P-school teachers get disney annual passes through the conversion of a hopper.

I will have 2 days from the 5 day hopper left over from the DIS meet this coming weekend...If you want it its yours ....

Deanna,
My DS is 14, but also very short for his age. The teasing is starting to get to him:sad2: I was a bit worried about the teen club for him for this reason. It's good to know he'll have company. I'm expecting he'll hang out with the 13 year old crowd:cool2:

There seems to be quite a few boys in the "13" range. My DS13 will be part of the group. I think he's going to be doing more of Ocean Quest than the teen club. At least, I hope that's the case :rolleyes1 .

So.... flat tracts of land over the Canterbury Palins viewing the Southern Alps ... is this a representative imaghe (above)? So ... do you get high winds off these plains? Would you then plant sturdy rows of trees to slow the winds a bit? After I drafted the coments related to this I recalled the conversation that pertained to it. and that was that with the position of the home at the apex of the hill - the owners felt that home was buffetted by high winds all the time - especially since every evening the valley had a sort of heat transfer gust at sunset every day! And the result was they noticed thier home had simply tons and tons of dust which was whiped up from the hillsides driven into thier home. It was maddening for them! While for other folks who had their homes sited just a bit lower on the hillsides - they had NO dust or wind issues.

So - having a brother next door makes for a magical circumstance (provided you get along - LOL). And being 5 minutes from a township sounds like it enables a lot of typical conveniences (food - hardware - etc.)... and only 40 minutes to a larger city sounds like almost nothing in terms of driving distance / time. In LA it's been said the residents are KNOWN for walking the least and driving everywhere. I can relate to that as I do in fact exactly that. and as such - to get AnYWHERE we drive typically 5-15 minutes. A 40 minute drive puts me almost at LA Airport - a regular run for me when I was fully engaged in business. And it's about an hours' drive to the center of Los Angeles without major traffic jams.

At any rate, the land deal sounds like huge collossal fun! How exciting it must be to acquire something like that. The photos of the region that I've googled look sooo unbelievably beautiful - you're truly fortunate to be able to have the family friendly chance at doing this! My sincere compliments on such a wonderful undertaking!

Canterbury-Plains_small.jpg

The photo is entirely accurate as to what it looks like. We do get winds but nothing hurricane force or anything like that. Its just a pain biking home in it :)

On the map if you look just north-east of Christchurch city you will see a small town called Rangiora, its fairly near there - about 20 minutes drive further east towards the mountains.

And it is beautiful here, thats why LOTRs and Narnia were filmed here - it really looks like that...

Thanks for the heads-up as well. I think I would be furious after spending $750 on 3-day park hoppers for the five of us. Has anyone used any of the ticket brokers and if so, what are your experiences with DL tickets?

We got our WDW tickets from Dreams Unlimited and didn't have any issues (we haven't used them yet mind you). Most of the ticket brokers won't send to us so our options were limited.

Your Friday plan sounds great. I think we arrive early afternoon. My plan was to use the time to buy booze too ! :rotfl2:

ESPN club sounds like a great idea. My brother is trying to meet up with a friend, so that leaves the kids & me. The carcass is definately available for bar stool saving. :rotfl:

I'm not really interested in reading the cruise documents, I'm just going to video record everything.

Seems to be my bad luck with electronics lately. My cell phone was not holding a charge on the battery. This particular phone is an insurance replacement from last year when the same thing happened. This time I'm still under warranty. ATT didn't want to replace the unit, so they sent me to Motorolla to replace the battery. Got the battery but the phone was still draining it. Back to ATT and got a replace phone. When it came it wouldn't recognize my SIM card. Just got my 2nd replacement today. So far it seems to be working. The true test will be when I recharge the battery tomorrow (trying to give it time to drain before I recharge). I could have avoided all this if I had just renewed my contract and gotten a new phone, but I refused to recommit when they keep giving me defective phones!

Have you tried to use a different charger? Sometimes the contacts on the charger get dirty or bent and even though it appears to be charging (which is really just the phone saying there is a connection), it may not be. If you have a problem with this one, tell AT&T you think you have a charger problem. They ought to give you a replacement.

BTW, on newer phones, you don't need to drain the battery before recharging. Newer batteries do not have the 'memory effect' like the old ones did.

This guy had to be drinking or maybe peyote:confused3 . I like Elbow Bend. And he sounds like an optimist except for the Bloody Basin one.

Maybe it is the same guy who named the road in Winslow, AZ "Butte View Road". The kids got a kick out of that.

Me, on the other hand, just wanted to get a picture 'standing on the corner'

Now, since I've gone and had my "fun"... and in all fairness to Mr Gere:

...[ed]... No. Not a shred of evidence has ever been unearthed to prove it. And while Gere himself has never confirmed nor denied it — nor, indeed, spoken of it directly at all — neither has any credible witness come forward in the twenty-odd years this story has been in circulation offering firsthand testimony to back it up.

Because it didn't happen. It's folklore.

After the rumor first surfaced, National Enquirer reporter Mike Walker spent months trying in vain to verify it. "I've never worked harder on a story in my life," he told the Palm Beach Post in 1995. Walker came away convinced he was chasing an urban legend.

It should come as no surprise, then, Richard Gere wasn't the only — nor, indeed, even the first — U.S. celebrity defamed with such allegations. ...[

So I'm up checking Julianna and she is now 101 in temp - and the omnicef needs another day to control this fever apparently. She may not get to school this week it seems since she has to stay below 100 degrees 24 hours before - and friday we were gonna ditch school anyway and head off to san diego early AM. Kalea needs to get in to see the doc tomorrow (maybe) and so I should have my hands full all day tomorrow with 2 sic kids - maybe. And if the spouse gets any more ill then she'll stay home too.

It seems a fare sale has kicked off this morning with Virgin moving into some markets. We have $44 O/W air fares from LAX to SF which I might consider ... as that works out to $113 R/T.

... and for a final diversion... what do the following have in common?

... [ed]... A bottle of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup, an ax handle, a nine-inch zucchini, ... [ed]..., a plastic spatula, a 9-1/2-inch water bottle, a deodorant bottle, a Coke bottle, a large bottle cap, numerous other bottles, a 3-1/2-inch Japanese glass float ball, an 11-inch carrot, an antenna rod, a 150-watt light bulb, a 100-watt frosted bulb, a cucumber, a screwdriver, four rubber balls, 72-1/2 jeweler's saws (all from one patient, but not all at the same time, although 29 were discovered on one occasion), a paperweight, an apple, an onion, a plastic toothbrush package, two bananas, a frozen pig's tail (it got stuck when it thawed), a ten-inch length of broomstick, an 18-inch umbrella handle and central rod, a plantain ...[ed]..., two Vaseline jars, a whiskey bottle with a cord attached, a teacup, an oil can, a six-by-five-inch tool box weighing 22 ounces, a six-inch stone weighing two pounds (...[ed]...), a baby powder can, a test tube, a ball-point pen, a peanut butter jar, candles, baseballs, a sand-filled bicycle inner tube, sewing needles, a flashlight, a half-filled tobacco pouch, a turnip, a pair of eyeglasses, a hard-boiled egg, a carborundum grindstone (with handle), a suitcase key, a syringe, a file, tumblers and glasses, a polyethylene waste trap from the U-bend of a sink, a dime and ... [ed]....

... for the answer - just click this and go to "The Sad Truth about..."- and please don't hold your breath.

OK,

... my little one just came home with Mom... and she's running 103.6. Well... i gues I shouldn't be surprised. We're scheduled to leave for San Diego Friday morning ta meet my BIL and his family - so I'm gonna take the little one in to see the Doc for hopefully a scrip. I dunn-o ifthey'll ask that I wait 3 days again til I see them - which would put us into Friday - and that's just no good since I don't wanna get my BILs' family sick. Plus hes' got a new one.

RATS! And my spouse is still running a temperature of a steady 100. At least shes' not being grumpy with me. AND, I think I had a low grade fever earlier today as I felt "pressure" in my head - which I recognize as either sinus or fever conditions. Alas, I have no measurements = and now I measure normal. Normal in temperature - otherwise I'm unconfirmed as normal. :surfweb:

Sorry to hear that everyone is under the weather, Crash -- hope it all clears up by the weekend. Often it can turn around within the space of a day or so (fingers crossed!) . . .

WOO HOO :cool1:

I can be there early to help you hold down "tarp space," Monica -- since we will have been at DL since Tuesday at that point . . . We will just have to remind people to get there 45 minutes or so before Fantasmic starts so that we don't have any real issues with people legitimately being upset with us. As long as some come early, we can spread out for the space and then pack everyone in more familiarly as the group gets bigger closer to time . . .

Andrew is 4'6":confused3 Same height as his sister who is 3 and 1/2 years younger. We've taken him to a specialist and so far the tests are normal. I'm hoping his growth spurt is just delayed.
He has his Dad's sarcastic sense of humor which sometimes gets him in trouble:rolleyes:

There's plenty of time, Laurie . . . quite often boys don't get that big growth spurt until even 16 or so . . . although it's hard for him now in the long run the social coping skills he develops dealing with it will likely help him in life . . . and the worst case scenario is that he ends up a little on the shorter side but with great sarcastic humor that makes him a big hit with women anyway!:thumbsup2

I've dropped a PM Todd with my mailing address... Thank You for the offer... these would go towards Kaleas' Pre-school teacher ... they don't exactly rake in tons of scratch so I'd encourage them to upgrade to annual passes and naturally cover thier expenses. Let me know how best to proceed (what do I owe ya) and then we'll likely have an accord, C'ptn!

BTW... what brand of RUM does the C'aptn prefer now a days?

I couldn't quite make out the tiny legends on the original map so I googled a better marked map with Rangiora listed. I just noticed United has just responded to an air fare war of sorts with Virgin Atlantic .... and one of the promo air fares cited was to NZ for what I think was $888 (probably plus fees and taxes). Does this sound pretty good? I tell ya... one of these days I'm gonna bring the family down to NZ... however, it is likely to be in our summer when the kids are out of school ... and if I can swing it I understand they run cruises to Antartica from your ports. That changes the whole dymanic in expense - but the opportunity encourages the pursuit.

BTW... I was trying to usegoogle Earth to get some close up satillite imagery and came up with these shots in your area ...

You never mentioned it was a WAR ZONE!....
