All the men in my wife's family die early while the women live forever.

Or as my FIL is fond of saying when his wife angers him -- "there's a reason all the men in this family die young -- THEY WANT TO"

:lmao:

We finally got the school calendar for next year (well, it is posted on the district website - I'm sure most parents don't have it yet) and DS will miss 5 days of 4th grade. I was hoping it would be only 3 (same as this year would have been). But at least it isn't as bad as the schedule 2 years ago - he would have missed 8 days.

I am going to talk to the principle next month and try and get them to assign his teacher before the end of this year. They usually don't assign them until the week before school starts and then they post the list on the school door! I don't think I will have much luck looking at that list and trying to contact the teacher from the Magic :rotfl2: :teacher:

Part of my argument is that I don't want the poor teacher to be taking roll each day and wondering where the heck is this kid... Also, if we can work with her before we go, we might be able to take care of any organizational stuff that DS will be missing - you know, the silly stuff they do the 1st week of school like label their folders.

Pamela

Just checked and our calendar is posted now too. DS will miss 4 days. I knew it would either be 3 or 4. Good thing is with his IEP, he'll have the same teacher he has this year. She's a real beliver in rewards and family time, so I don't think we'll have a problem. As long as DS earns this trip. Last week wasn't looking so good.

Good luck with the teacher assignment. Around here, sometimes it's just easier to deal with it once you get back. We always still have students enrolling during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of school.

How old are your kids?

We have 2 connecting rooms on Deck 2, up near the front of the ship. We sailed last March with all 4 kids, again in connecting rooms, and we loved being able to move between the 2 rooms.

I haven't been to Disneyland for about 16 years, and my children have never been there. We go to WDW about twice a year, and I just haven't had much desire to visit DL. But, since we booked this trip and after looking at the pictures Monica posted last week, I am really getting excited about going! I think one of the things I'm most looking forward to is being able to move between the hotel and the parks so easily. I'm also anxious to see all the rides and attractions that aren't found at WDW. My kids are excited about visiting Disneyland for the first time, but they're also thrilled that for once we get to fly (since we always drive to FL).

Kim

Glad I could help get you excited. You can't be this close to a Disney park and not go. At least that's how I always rationalize it. And its very different than what you experienced 16 years ago.

DS will be missing the first few days of school as well. You would think that this would be "no biggie" with it being Kindergarten but apparently this could be “a biggie” we have talked with the school and all is well.

When did Kindergarten become so important? I mean will the first week of it keep DS from getting into a good college?

Is there a child we don't know about??? Does Lexi have a brother you haven't told us about?? hmmmm.....does Sara even know?

LOL

Ya know, what I've learned with my school dealings is that it's not so much the work that is missed, but the schools don't get paid when a child is not there. They don't want your kids to miss school for anything. Unless of course, they send them home.

Hello Everyone! We are off to WDW on Friday night for spring break next week. We are staying at Saratoga Springs. I can't wait!
We have a question for everyone....yes, we are happy to be on the ship and assigned a cabin, but has anyone ever stayed on Deck 1? The first time we were on the Magic we were on Deck 6. I know this is a change, but I keep telling myself the price difference allowed for better shore excursions. Anyone thoughts on this?
We are also headed to DL on the 13th and staying at the Grand Californian on DVC points.
I hope everyone has a great day and does something fun!:goodvibes

Stayed on Deck 1 for one night. There were paint fumes in our room, so DCL let us switch until it aired out. Our normal room was on Deck 2, so down 1 more wasn't a big deal. We actually really liked Deck 2. The only difference between 1 and 2 is if you have a Cat 9, then on Deck 1 you have 2 small porthole windows as opposed to the 1 large window.

Chris (grandmax3) was on Deck 1 for the Med Repo and didn't have any complaints.

So, just got back from the doctors (had to see a partner because my doc was booked)... she's not really sure what it is & ordered a brain scan "just to be safe". After I scrapped myself off the ceiling, I called my friend who manages the MRI center where we work. She gave me a million reasons why it's "no big deal"... getting scanned tomorrow at 2:30...

I would love to ride it as well presume it would be fastpass. They do not have many at DCA, The river run and Soarin

Tower of Terror and CA Screamin' also. But you're right, still not very many on Fastpass. And Grizzly River Run is not connect to the other FPs, so you can get one even if you already have one for something else.

I'm hoping for a passholder preview. Then I can report back to everyone about it. :goodvibes

When did our Dear Daughter become our Dear Son?

And you told me you were over not having a boy....

That being said, the first week of kindergarden should be no big deal.

Thanks for info didn't know about GRR doesn't connect must try that out, but must say even in August this park looked empty!

Another non-advertised perk is that the lockers next to GRR are free for the first hour (or possibly two), so you can store items that you don't want getting wet.

I had a brain scan once. They didn't find anything... So don't worry about it.

You'll be fine Lisa, my DW is always complaining that she has a brain tumor that the doctors just have not found yet.

One little mistake....

Yes I am over it but it would have been nice to have a Left handed closer

Isnt' that what you said when I told you we were pregnant?

Sounds like you're not over it to me... You gonna teach her softball? I understand that a good player could keep her parents in a style they could become accustomed to. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: That *IS* what you wanted, isn't it?

I guess I'll let you off the hook! This is the one that I bid on. I went up to $26, but somebody went higher. I'm hoping that she puts another one up with a Buy It Now.

Mike, I would email her and make an offer. I think she is making a few at a time and then putting them on ebay. If you contact her you could specify exactly what you want. For the one I got I was able to pick the color fabric, thread color and personalized with names for $25. Those appliques on the one you wanted look really nice (she may want more to personalize that one):confused3

I haven't found anything on ebay that was worth bidding against a friend...yet;)

 Hi Sara, Hi Mike

Sara how was your scooter ride today?

Lovely. A little cold, but much better than taking 45 minutes to get to work. Parking for 10 hours is $2.50 (about what I was paying to park at the BART station). I get to drive by the ball park :thumbsup2
