I hope that those of you that celebrated Easter yesterday, had a wonderful day. It was cold here, but thankfully no s*** I have a hard enough time with White Christmas ... but I would NOT be happy with a white Easter :headache:

Ok, I think this is a FIRST in my lifetime ... and I almost actually laughed out loud thinking back about the posts over the weekend asking folks to attend an "off-peak" service, or park a mile from the Church ... not only did we get a parking spot right in the Church lot on Sunday Morning and only showed up 15 minutes before the Service started ... there were EMPTY seats, in the sanctuary AND in the balcony  We knew that enrollment was dwindling, but I've honestly NEVER seen that ... we've had better attendance during some of the regular Sunday Services than we had yesterday :confused3

Happy Monday pirate: One more work-week gets us just that much closer to TOAL :flower3:

It is in Canada - but depends on who you work for as to whether you have it off or not. DH has the day off as he works for the Government. :goodvibes

The kids have it off school here in Canada, but unless you work for the government, the School system or the Banks, you have to work here!

Bar shops everything is closed today, on Easter Sunday is one of two Sundays where nearly nothing can open bar very small shops, petrol stations newsagents etc.

Good Friday and Easter Monday most things closed shops open,

Good day all! I am  along with M. Have been fighting off viral bronchitis and allergies for the last week. Had to work this last weekend but now I am off with the kids this week for spring break. Hope to get over this soon.

Found this review of the new Toy Story Mania ride at CA and Hollywood Studios coming in June. This is the most detail description that I have seen yet. Seems the DIS will not allow me to link to Magical Mountain so here is the story.

Disney Parks Toy Story Characters Challenge Guests To Ride and Play Toy Story Mania!
(Disneyland Resort)
3/24/2008 10:38 AM EST
Disney Parks guests will don 3-D glasses and enter a wild and wooly 4-D world of Woody the Cowboy and Buzz Lightyear when Toy Story Mania! premieres this summer. The attraction will debut on both coasts: at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and along the Paradise Pier midway in Disney's California Adventure at Disneyland Resort in California.

Celebrating the Disney•Pixar classics "Toy Story" and "Toy Story II," Toy Story Mania! raises the bar for interactive ride-game attractions. It's a high energy, immersive adventure that makes guests a key part of the action as their game play triggers special effects that provide a fourth dimension of fun. "Toy Story Mania!" engages guests in a whole new way with the delightful characters of the films.

Upon entering the attraction, guests will be welcomed by Mr. Potato Head, more than five feet tall and looking like he stepped right down from the movie screen. The state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics Mr. Potato Head makes a perfect carnival barker for the immersive Toy Story Mania! experience, since he is the first attraction-based Audio-Animatronics figure who can engage guests in a two-way conversation.

Everyone gets a front row seat when guests put on their 3-D glasses, "shrink" to the size of a toy, and board the Toy Story Mania! carnival tram ride vehicles, whose fast travel and spinning add a huge amount of fun to the interactive experience. The exciting and colorful route takes guests through "Andy's Bedroom" filled with oversized murals and toys. The vehicles spin to face Toy Story Mania! game booths - high-tech yet rooted in classic midway games of skill - and guests aim for 3-D animated targets using their own on-board "spring-action shooters." Players pair up and sit side-by-side for a friendly competition that delivers an ever-changing variety of targets and surprises.

As they play, guests can actually see the "virtual" objects they've launched leave their "spring-action shooters" and hit the targets (or not). And thanks to 4-D special effects technology, they may sense objects whirring past them as they pop out of the 3-D scenes.

The Toy Story Mania! games - five of them, plus an introductory practice round - are designed to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages and skills, from beginners to serious gamers. Play is energized by the spirit of the "Toy Story" characters cast in games that best suit their very animated personalities.

First comes the "Pie Throw Practice" round in which guests can try splattering targets with "virtual" pies.

Next Hamm the pig hosts a "Hamm & Eggs" booth in which players launch "plastic virtual eggs" at various barnyard targets.

"Bo Peep's Baaa-loon Pop" presents a landscape full of balloon sheep, trees and other objects at which guests can launch virtual darts. But players had better be careful! A popped virtual water balloon might add an additional 4-D wet dimension to the game.

From there it's on to "Green Army Men Shoot Camp" where the challenge is to break plates with baseballs.
Next up is "Buzz Lightyear's Flying Tossers," a ring-toss game hosted by everyone's favorite space ranger, with Little Green Aliens as the targets.

For the grand finale game, Toy Story Mania! players will ride through Wild West scenes launching virtual suction-cup darts at targets in "Woody's Rootin' Tootin' Shootin' Gallery." A final "Woody's Bonus Roundup" encourages guests to fire their "spring-action shooters" as rapidly as possible at one last super-target for extra points. When scores are tallied, players' skill levels are identified with the reward of an onscreen "virtual plush."

The game play of Toy Story Mania! is accompanied by ingenious musical variations of Randy Newman's "You've Got A Friend in Me," arranged by veteran music editor Bruno Coon, a frequent Newman collaborator, to compliment the games - for example, a military brass band version for "Green Army Man Shoot Camp." No matter how many times guests return to ride and play, they can be sure every ride-through will be different.

Sorry to hear about the illness. We had quite a bout of sickness at our house over the weekend too -- including a visit to the emergency room.

The link you posted doesn't seem to work. Is it something I'm doing? It's a bunch of asterisks.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.

Thanks for the info on Toy Story Mania. We won't be getting back to WDW this year, so I'm glad that we'll get to ride it a DL this summer!

We finally got the school calendar for next year (well, it is posted on the district website - I'm sure most parents don't have it yet) and DS will miss 5 days of 4th grade. I was hoping it would be only 3 (same as this year would have been). But at least it isn't as bad as the schedule 2 years ago - he would have missed 8 days.

I am going to talk to the principle next month and try and get them to assign his teacher before the end of this year. They usually don't assign them until the week before school starts and then they post the list on the school door! I don't think I will have much luck looking at that list and trying to contact the teacher from the Magic :rotfl2: :teacher:

Part of my argument is that I don't want the poor teacher to be taking roll each day and wondering where the heck is this kid... Also, if we can work with her before we go, we might be able to take care of any organizational stuff that DS will be missing - you know, the silly stuff they do the 1st week of school like label their folders.

Sounds logical good luck, were are back on September 3rd so just make it, flight arrives 2nd.

Hi Kim!
We will be traveling with our 4 kids too, but they are a little older than yours. Are you in connecting rooms or rooms across the hall from each other? We will also be arriving into LA on the 12th and although we were planning to stay at the Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel, we will be staying offsite across the street. Maybe we will see you at Disneyland!!

How old are your kids?

We have 2 connecting rooms on Deck 2, up near the front of the ship. We sailed last March with all 4 kids, again in connecting rooms, and we loved being able to move between the 2 rooms.

I haven't been to Disneyland for about 16 years, and my children have never been there. We go to WDW about twice a year, and I just haven't had much desire to visit DL. But, since we booked this trip and after looking at the pictures Monica posted last week, I am really getting excited about going! I think one of the things I'm most looking forward to is being able to move between the hotel and the parks so easily. I'm also anxious to see all the rides and attractions that aren't found at WDW. My kids are excited about visiting Disneyland for the first time, but they're also thrilled that for once we get to fly (since we always drive to FL).

Our kids will be missing too many days so we're trying to do the same thing by finding out if we can get teachers assigned early. Unfortunately, we don't even know which school our two youngest will be attending next year. We would really like to give the kids a head start at review as this seems to be mostly what they do through Labor day anyway. The hardest part will be our 7th grader who will have six different teachers. Fortunately, his middle school is arranged into "cores" and if we can find out which core he is assigned to, we can give him a head start. The teachers post homework to the school's website each day, so he could stay caught up on the TOAL if we wanted to torture him!

I'm off the the Dr. myself,6 month check up. I'm already for him to bi*** about my weight. My allergies have been going haywire too!

DS will be missing the first few days of school as well. You would think that this would be "no biggie" with it being Kindergarten but apparently this could be “a biggie” we have talked with the school and all is well.

When did Kindergarten become so important? I mean will the first week of it keep DS from getting into a good college?

We had a White Easter as well (about 2 inches on the grass -- none on the streets). Fortunately, by 1:00 p.m. it had all melted.

Okay no sympathy from me!!!!;) We had 10 Inches of snow come down Friday and Saturday.:sad2: :sad2: It is almost gone now but I have had enough of winter!!!!:rolleyes1

Finally got my blood work back and the doctor has put me on a daily preventative medicine (allopurinol). I can't start taking it until my current flare-up has completely receded, but was told that this should prevent flare-ups altogether. This was great news as I can now get back into some sort of regular exercise program.:cool1:

Sounds good!!!!!!:thumbsup2

We're off today, but I have to go to the doctors this afternoon, boo. My left eyelid started to swell slightly on Friday...bad new is, it's getting worse !! Hopefully, it's just a sinus infection. yaknow, as opposed to quasimodo-itis :rotfl2:

I also have to go to a viewing tonight. My Mom's youngest sister, just 61 years old. My Mom's whole family is gone now. She was oldest when she died at 63. That's one of the reasons I spend my money now.

Hey Lisa I am 61!!! Please say that quietly!!!:ssst: :ssst: I am the only one left in my family!!!!

Hello Everyone! We are off to WDW on Friday night for spring break next week. We are staying at Saratoga Springs. I can't wait!
We have a question for everyone....yes, we are happy to be on the ship and assigned a cabin, but has anyone ever stayed on Deck 1? The first time we were on the Magic we were on Deck 6. I know this is a change, but I keep telling myself the price difference allowed for better shore excursions. Anyone thoughts on this?
We are also headed to DL on the 13th and staying at the Grand Californian on DVC points.
I hope everyone has a great day and does something fun!:goodvibes

Well the first few days are when the assign the good crayons.

All the men in my wife's family die early while the women live forever.

Or as my FIL is fond of saying when his wife angers him -- "there's a reason all the men in this family die young -- THEY WANT TO"

I spent Easter morning with DS14 helping direct traffic in the Church parking lot for Boy Scouts. It's amazing how many good Christian folk will drive right past the Boy Scout directing them towards a parking space in hopes that one will have magically opened closer to the front. And the ones who ignored the County Sheriff at the entrance after I'd told him to close up the lot -- people drove right past him and the parking cones. He had to block the entrance with his cruiser.

Sorry your not feeling well Roger (....and you too M). If you're girls Spring Break is anything like ours, I doubt you'll be able to get any rest. Good luck.

Toy Story Mania sounds cool. Have you heard whether there will be Fastpass on it? Guess we'll have to work out a strategy to hit DCA at opening. I can't remember ever doing that. Maybe trying to ride at closing might be easier.
