Having the kids is what made me have to face my fears. I had to defend my children.
Jared was only about 9 months old when a scorpion stung him. I stepped on it, and ran to the phone to call Poison Control to see what they suggest I do.....when the lady asked me how Jared was reacting to the sting, I turned just in time to see him pick up the dead scorpion and stick it in his mouth! :scared1: I screamed, dropped the phone, picked him up and had to dig the "thing" out of his mouth.
When I got back to the phone, I think I'd scared the poor woman half to death.:faint: But she ended up laughing at the kid who "got even" with a scorpion.

:scared1: Oh my! That would have scared me to death! But, that is true we do face our fears to defend our children.

On the Repo last year there was a group of girls that hung out in the elevator. They didn't push buttons or anything, but they say in the back and played cards. Harmless, but annoying, especially at busy times. Not sure I will implement the no elevator rule, but at least no camping out in the elevator.

That's when I turn into a "witch" and tell them to take their game someplace else.
The teen club on our last NCL cruise had the kids making a video, and I found my son and some other kids using the elevator as the "scene" for their video. I was NOT a happy camper. They had a table and chairs set up in there and were pretending it was a poker room!

Aw Stace, you interfered with the creative process....:rotfl: Seriously that was pretty inventive of them however wrong it may be

Just out of curiousity....I'm not traveling with a parent, or my "guardian" (spouse).....am I going to have to sign this Code of Conduct contract????

grr!! we just got an email from jetblue that they've changed our itinerary on our flight out to cali. we chose the day going out based on the time frame (leaving buffalo at 8:20am) and the amount that the ticket cost...now we are getting up super early....flight leaves at 5:50AM!!! yuck!!! i am a little annoyed by this! we leave earlier, but still arrive at the same time.....kids will be in great shape! ugh! getting up early...and long layover!!!! i guess if this is the only glitch in planning, i'll be happy...but i'm afraid it's a sign of what's to come! i really hope not!

We gave our kids charging privileges after about our 2nd or third cruise when I had to stop what I was doing to go buy Jordan a hairbrush because she forgot to pack hers.
They both know that they're allowed "X" number of charges for the arcade and that they have to ask before buying anything in the shops...and it has worked. They're very good about it. Too bad I'M not! ;)

Both were given sign-out when they reached the "legal" age, and we keep post-it notes on the inside of the door to the room so that we know (fairly well) where everyone is at any given time. I got a kick out of the concierge using our post-its to leave us notes!

Yes...we did have to have a conversation about misuse of the elevators, but after they saw a group of kids get in SERIOUS trouble (they "broke" an elevator and got stuck in it) they knew it could have been them in there, and haven't been a problem with that since then.
As for hanging in the stairwells.....the older mine have gotten, the more secret places they've found.....so we haven't caught them there. We tried to tell them that they were disturbing other passengers, but once they get with a whole crowd of kids, we lose a little of our authority. I'm sure that they were told more than once to scram.

Castaway Cay....as long as they each had a friend, we let them take off and do what they wanted (and Dad & I got to go to the Adult beach for the first time ever!) when the youngest turned 13.
Once or twice we ran into them somewhere along the way....and they knew when to meet us for the Banana Boats or whatever we'd planned...and they also knew what time they had to be back on the ship.

I guess we're too lenient, but so far it hasn't backfired on us.

I don't think that you were too lenient. You know your kids, what works for some won't work for all.:)

I'm pretty sure I would have just passed out at the sight of my son eating a scorpion  That's if I managed to keep cool long enough to step on it and run to the phone :scared1: When my oldest son was around a year he tripped on the steps and bumped his mouth. He ended up cutting that piece of skin that connects the inside of your lip to your gums, and I FREAKED OUT ... DH made ME call the doctor's office and talk to them because it would force me to maintain some semblance of calm  And to think I once counted myself *lucky* to be married to a first responder so I wouldn't have to deal with emergencies :rotfl2:

Well, now...if we're talking about one of my kids BLEEDING....now that's a horse of a different color. I panic. That's when DAD has to step in.

Well thanks for the heads up Shannon! I did NOT receive notification, but I decided to check my flts on Jetblue & our flt to Long Beach has been moved UP an hour. Now instead of arriving in CA at 10:30am we don't arrive till 11:30am. Not a huge deal, but I also hope it doesn't change anymore than that. :headache:

Have you read the thread on the main cruise board, where we are considered

''overwhelming''

they should have been around for part 1 - I'm sure there would have been other words used to describe us

haven't seen the thread yet....will venture over there now

Oh no. There will be a far different code of conduct for the 'adults'. We'll work on that one next!
