THe time has come for the ....

Secret Mickey GRAND UNVEILING

If ya don't wanna know who was linked to whom - please avert your eyes and scroll past.... here is my HALF of the list - and I presume Tina will post her half of the list some time soon - and I'll probably quote this list once more in the days to come for everyone's convenience who participatated!

Thanks again to all who were involved. In spite of the best laid plans of TIna and I - I know many were swamped during the holidays - and it was perhaps ill conceived to time the conclusion of this 2 part event to coincide with Christmas. At any rate, I hope the majority had a good time. I must say, I was so impressed with the creativity and generosity of so many... plus the neighborly attention to detail in wrapping everything so beautifully. Thank you one and all for joining in the fun!

And without further delay - here is my half of the list along with page and posting numbers of 7 question replies to add extra info on their beneficiaries - and of course, these references were linked to the original (closed) BIG thread :

I'm almost sure this is correct above - and I reserve the right to edit this if somehow there is a mistake listed above...

Was this a vow renewal? Gotta see pictures:lmao:
Oooh, see now that you posted them:thumbsup2
Very cool:cool1:

I want to do a vow renewal some day also.
Gonna take notes during Mike and Linda's:thumbsup2

No, I am afraid it was our actual wedding. There was no way I was going to spend a ton of $ or have my Mom pay either so we did fun. I am not into weddings.

Crash I was sorting through old toys to give to charity and had to ask Darren if I could give away the blue and red plastic light sabers. He goes No, we're keeping those:rolleyes:
He watched episode 1 eight times in the movie theaters when it came out:crazy2:
He's calmed down now, somewhat:lmao:
His name on the Star Wars forums is Darth Scooby.

I found this picture. You can tell Bill's mustache is completely crooked. That sweet man with us is the Judge. Doesn't he look like Judge Wapiner?
Although we are rather traditional people we decided to have some fun with our wedding.

[ed]

That's pretty cool!

I think it's wonderful to see people (young and older) engaged in living their passions - both whimsical and serious. And as for his lite sabers, I too would never part with any of MY cherished toys... and you can quote me on that one!

Yannoo...

... I'm still dying to use my Anakin "Dark Sith" Jedi costume. You suppose Mike would tolerate me on Castaway Caye if I attended in full costume? [/CENTER]

I'm OK with you wearing black leather on a beach in the caribbean in August if you are!

What a fun wedding! I love it!

You know I was originally planning to have something small and informal, but my parents wanted something bigger and were willing to pay:confused3
Luckily they let me plan it:rolleyes:
Prices in Long Island were much lower than where I was living at the time, so we had to drive out to LI to check out wedding sites and such. Wound up being a good party and as long as you have fun doesn't really matter about the details:goodvibes

padme_pc_800x600.jpg

Sounds like reverse psychology to me:scratchin

Imagine the wedding pictures:rotfl2:

aotc_anakin_padme_lg13.jpg

Well....

.... if I were to do a "fun" vow renewal - I would want to do an Anakin/Padme service with the costumes above - well - Padame would have the torn costume with her tummy showing (like at the top)!

Hi All --

Another rainy day in SE Virginia. We're so excited that we're under the 6 month mark! I will probably continue in a daze until baseball season is over and then it will be right into the cruise.

Hey, I bought snorkel gear for ME this week. Okay, well DS13 can use it, too,. That is, if his feet don't grow too much in the next 6 months . . .LOL

Hope everyone is staying healthy!

WHOOO HOOOO !!! I can come out of the closet now!!

Thanks Crash!!! The first one will be PERFECT for the rehearsal dinner and the second one will be great for the wedding!!
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Gee.....I hope MEGAN approves!!!

A woman who is not ashamed to dress herself! :thumbsup2

SORRY! Was only joking, I know about you and computers!

Not True - Andrew - I am only death to some cameras! But that's all over with - I got insurance so I won't need it and for the record -its DH that really kills the laptops. I just get blamed for it! :lmao:

Crash (Tom) you probably remember us talking about school closures last year some time, well the school district has made its final (maybe) selection. DD7 elementary school will be one of the two schools to be closed in fall of 2009. All of the parents have started a massive campaign to change their minds but it will be a long shot. There is a lot of politics involved and we will have to wait and see what happens. If they do close our elementary school DD will have to either take a bus or car pool to a new undisclosed location no where near our house. We are really disturbed about the emotional effect on DD let alone the fact that there will no elementary school within 5 miles of us and what that might do to property values.

Roger I hope things work out for you. This is one of the main reasons that DD14 has gone to catholic school her whole life. My older two went public and had a great elemantary school until the school district decided to play around with the boundaries. Well they came out with a realigned district in which we were not in it - so we bought a house next to my moms in order to have them go there. Just 6 months after they realigned - they re-realigned and guess what? We weren't in it again. This time they would have had to go only 1 mile further - but had to cross the outskirts of what is commonly known as the one-ways. No way I was going to allow that so I flounced off to my elementary school and enrolled her. She's been going ever since. Much safer that way although more expensive. I tried to get her to go to a public high school but she said - yeah right! :lmao:

Got your message x8!

Sorry! Can you tell I was a bit upset? I hadn't been able to DIS for about 8 hrs - was having withdrawal symptons! :upsidedow

You know...

.... when we got married I would have qualified for being the original Mr. Clueless regarding all things pertaining to weddings and getting married.

In brief - we ended up doing two slightly smaller receptions so we could visit with family in Hawaii and Los Angeles, as opposed to one. And we paid for most of it ourselves - so it was not the most fancy - but we had a really good time at both. It was supremely memorable for all the right reasons.

weddingstormtrooperphoto.jpeg

And in contrast to our little low budget receptions - my BIL married the daughter of the deputy transportation minister for Thailand - and thier weddding had 2 receptions too... one in Bangkok with 1500 people and another in Honolulu with 150% more folks then ours - and at a place on the beach in a landmark property. Not that I have any gripes. < snif > I was best man supposedly in both services - but I got replaced in Bangkok by the in laws from thailand because they suggested I could notpossibly be sufficiently familiar with Thai wedding/Bhuddist customs. Oh well... it would have been a LOT of work if I served in Thailand.. so its' just as well. Greeting 1500+ guests and bowing for them all would have been impossibly difficult for an out of shape whimp like me!

We can't wait to sail too... and it's been raining here all day for the most part. However, we're off for Bucca now - on account of the $10 off email coupon we got that's only good today. TTFN!

Hey Theresa:wave2:
No rain here today:confused3
Cold and sunny.

I am surprised to hear about the school closings. There are 4 elementary schools within 3 miles of our house. They are all fairly new and registration of 650-800 each, they are pretty big.
They cannot build schools fast enough here. We are SOOOO in the burbs. Everyone moves out here and has kids.

Dang, that's a lot of kids! The school I work at has an enrollment of 203. That's Pre-K thru 5th.

Everybody must be off watching the Oscars! Think I'll head on down the hall myself. Night kids.

I know! It is similar to my High School! :crazy2:
Both Bill and I grew up in completely different environment than our kids are. We are both small town rural kids.
The good news is the 3 schools they would go to are all Exemplary and within walking distance so that is nice.

That's where I am....just finished a prime rib dinner and planting myself to watch the rest of the Oscars. Nothing else on to watch.

dear pbager......:rose: .

..with great interest, i read your response. it has become my
feeling,..that no life..is a waste of time. ever. no matter the
how short the timeline is... & that there are
"dynamics" ..way beyond our meager understandings.

..lately...my strongest feeling...about gaining value/s thru life..
is~ simple awarness...leading to greater apprication...on what
can easily be missed, misunderstood and/or taken for granted.

recycle...is only a new concept to us..but has ..been around on
earth...for ages. therefore, any life, touching= connecting to
another...goes on..in mind & spirit.

on my side of the fence, i have loss alot of memories that depended
on what otehrs told me. and then there are those...that are no
longer...living but are very, very dear.

yes, i think your observation.."we are still losing way too many newborns",
is accurate. :sad1: . we - [ the staff ], were discussing...my work
related experiences.., and rightly so, they added its been 30 years. [ a
significant amount of time]...however, * not completely..cos our kids
were born..in the early/late 80's/ and lat 90's. what good is our fancy
monitors...when they are not there/or asleep {don't understand}..
the warning signs? ..with jordan..i "howled"...so she got immediately
reactions..& there you go..how sad..even if one lil'one..is deny
life...becos others..we pay $$$, was..not paying attention? sadly,
there have been alot more..lost. sometimes, there are worst things..
then dying..."damaging the brain". "we"..have been on both side of
the fence....blessings & great sadness.

..however, we have come a very long..way..in a short period of time.
back to the 1940's...& my family first born..never made it out
of the delivery room. A prefect baby...that required respiratory
support. my fahter talked how "hard"..the doctor "worked" to save
his life. curiously, i asked my father what he did? without even
questioning..."he dunked him first in warm water than cold".

its hard to believe, but the intensive care treatements/rooms,
were not around...until..the late 60's.

....though...no longer living..the nurses/doctors...i had the privileged
learning/working with..were developing..today...standards. we
can simple do better..by using them. & that no much to ask..or
hope for. education..is much like building the foundation and the
framing..however, without the nurse mentors'..there are no skills
for the knowledge application.[ i know this from those giving me
every single insight i practiced today.]. it's so :sad1: depressing,
knowing..so much "great" knowledge..is not being used..cos of
a system...protecting...their selfish interests. { blood $$$, by
my opinion].

not only life preserving but as easy..as pie...that is also the frustration,
of those ..doing the work...that knows better.

* tell me?....what do you think?..we have admins..allowing
nursing home candiates..be placed..in our ward..acute pysch>/
think its abuse?..or permitting clients admissions..without the staffing
available...forcing staff..to work over and over. how good can care
be..if the staff...is facing dangerous clients...& totally exhausted.
the same people...then will turned around..and scape goat..staff
giving. or how would like to be a young graduate..."told"..you have
...to do the life/death doctoring....in an intensive care unit..cos
the covering..dr. , has no icu knowledge..& i mean zero? where's
the real abuse is occuring? back to the future, ..

....some miscarriages..are nature way. i believe that, some
life systems..,while well-desigend...can be adverse-effected,
by alot of factors..like genetics. while there are too many...
miscarriages.....that could/should have been prevented.

a long time ago..in 2 separate incidents, there were 2 lil ' miracles
that...will always..stay with me. both were boys. however, in
medical circles..it is true..if a delivery...running into diffculties..
the staff..is hoping...for a girl...due to their abilties to over come
& survive.

* what raised the diffculties..levels..was the rn assigned to us..
was a nursery nurse..with very lil'ob experience. :faint: & it
got worst...from that. any ob nurses?...another...factor....was
missing his date..* he was in the "oven"..almost..a month over..
[ after 40 weeks..the life support systems..begin to deteriorate
...& we were in their "birthing" room...when we needed a c-section
and no doctors...in the hospital...with a baby head..way too
big...for his own good....:scared: , ..all i could do...was whispered...
to my wife, honey-we're in alot of trouble..& its all up to you. god
bless!..my lil'miracle worker...pixiedust: , so any dcl she desires, i am
happy to give. to me, she is the best.

however, iam  ...for the other losses..

LG, I had an answer for this and lost it. I realize that medicine keeps evolving and there are new and wonderous developments. My grandmother and Alan's mom both had infants stillborn or never the leave the hospital. I honestly blamed myself for the downturn Alan's mom took after Christopher died--she died several months afterwards. She was dealing with colon and lung cancer and she gave up when Christopher died.

Yes, I believe that hospitals staffs are very overworked. I don't see how they can be thorough in what they do when they put in so many hours. I think that has a lot to do with insurance co. dictating so much about medical care and also with a lot of workers relying on their overtime pay to make ends meet at home. I do think that it is irresponsible of a hospital or supervisor to have someone do a job they are not trained to do.

I never gave a thought until Julie was naming her friend's children and them all boys. And you to mention that they hope for girls when they face problems. Really makes you wonder why? I have been thinking all day about preemies I know and I have to say they have been all girls--only 1 boy. I was 42 weeks pregnant with Christopher--my dr. sent me for 2 stress tests, but I didn't know that over 40 weeks was harder on the baby. Adam was a scheduled c-sect. at 38 weeks.

I think it is a hard hurdle to get over for a young married couple. Probably a reason for divorce in a lot of the couples. It would be probably one of their biggest life's challenges. As the mother, we have so much guilt and feel that we failed in something that so many women do so easily.

Even after Adam was born, that night just kept running through my head. I didn't have the nerve to request my medical records for almost 2 years. The hospital was getting ready to disconnect the monitor and send me home--false labor then Christopher's heartbeat was lost--it took them 38 minutes to even start prepping me for an emergency c-sect (there was no dr there and it was 3 am) I sure didn't know any better--I'd never had a baby before. But you do expect when you go to a hospital that they are prepared for things---it just isn't always the case. I took the records to my dr. --he got defensive with me (I never understood why he did because he wasn't there at the hospital) To me 38 minutes was a long time--that was all I questioned. I have never gone back to him. I never contemplated suing--I couldn't have spent a dime of any money---I just wanted to hear it wasn't my fault.

I am so happy for you and Coral that you both had happy outcomes and have sweet princesses.:flower3: :flower3:

Mmmmm prime rib!

I usually watch the entire oscars every year but this year PBS has been showing the A&E version of "Pride & Prejudice" and seeings how I watched episodes 1 and 2 I had to watch 3, especially as it's the one where the get hitched at the end! I know I could of watched it at any time, I have it on DVD but sometimes you just gotta go with your gut.

I don't think they've announced Best Actor yet, I'm torn between wanting JD and George Clooney.
