So, a question I keep asking:

Is "we temporarily removed all threads with over 10,000 posts" some kind of 1984-speak for "we got rid of the Captain Jack's 2008 EB repo thread?" Were there any other threads taken away? Could we truly be the sole cause of slow running on the Disboards???? I've seen a lot of posts elsewhere saying how much faster things are running, and a few comments about how long threads are nothing more than "slow chat" . . .

Maybe you tried to post on the Wonder thread before figuring it out and posting here, Andrew . . .

I was on the board this morning UK, time and saw Captain crash set it up, in fact as he opened it and then was, in 'edit' mode to put his pictures in, I couldn't access it until he had finished his work.

I have in the past seen the Wonder thread of the same date come up on the top of the cruise main page, so used that as an example!!!!

I wouldn't mind the old thread not being active anymore as long as there was a way to access -- that is, just read -- the old posts. It does feel weird to just have all that history gone so suddenly.

I already started off the morning depressed thinking I would not have this thread to keep me occupied while all my programming was editing and compiling.
I spent my time booking a WDW trip.
Me, DH and both girls are going from June 21st thru the 26th. A short trip so I do not mess w/ MiL's plans for Megan . I booked airfare and the Wilderness Lodge. We love that place. Since we are paying rack rate (I have never paid rack before) if we have more money than we think than we might upgrade to the Poly to be on the monorial.

When I first posted this am, the boards were still slow. Took around 30 sec for the post to go thru. Now it is much faster.My DS has a suspicion it is the countdown clocks that are slowing the boards down.I don't care to guess as I am not that proficient in geek talk.

Ok I have accomplished very next to nothing. I do need to get off this chair as I have to pick the DGKs up at 2:30.

Sounds like a great trip, Coral! I enjoyed my one time at the WL, but know what you mean about it being nicer to be on the monorail. My girls and I will be in WDW the week after Easter, a split stay between Poly and Boardwalk Inn.

I REALLY don't want to be a downer, or to hurt anyone's feelings....please understand that......BUT.......
and I am going to bold this type, so I am NOT yelling, I just want everyone to see it......

One of the biggest problems with the thread(s) that are larger, like this one....is not the amount of posts....

But the amount of IMAGES.

We need to reduce the amount of images that are posted if we want to keep this thread from now until we cruise.

Soooo.....if you post an image, PLEASE make it smaller....or think twice before posting one.

Another helpful hint is to NOT "quote" an image. If you want to respond to someone who has posted an image, remove the image before you submit your quote.

I am really sorry if someone else already suggested this. I don't want to be a groundhog..... and I don't want to sound like I am being a "boss" of any sort. I just wouldn't want to lose a thread again and am only trying to be helpful.

I'm going to the Seaquarium

Here's what we'll look like on the way there

DH and I spent 10 days in Curacao several years ago, and we practically took up residence at the Seaquarium.....it was THE best place to snorkel.
After the first two days, they gave us employee passes so we could get in for free.

I was really wishing we were going to Curacao for this cruise....because I knew EXACTLY where I'd be going!!

You are probably right. It may be a combination of the images and the countdown tickers. We will just have to see what they tell us later on. I think I will put the counter on my desktop as well.

That is exactly correct, but if removing them has sppeded up the boards, what will happen if they return?

OMG M!!! I really needed that laugh today!

Morning all. I thought I would just check to make sure our thread was really "hidden" for 24 hours. And what do I find? (OK I tried to post a picture, but I still can't figure out how to post from the internet. How do I post the picture and not just the link?)

I thought I going to have to go through a 24 hour withdrawal, but I find Crash has gotten me a fix. DH asked last night what I was going to do when this cruise was over and I didn't have anything to read. I told him this thread will never die...or I will have to book another cruise (one that has a nice friendly thread).

I'll drink to that!

I agree Stace, the problem is probably the amount of images and the SIZE of some of them. If I remember correctly, when the signature size was limited a few months back they said then it was to limit the number of images that are in a persons signature to help speed up the boards.
