8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

It was probably the cane, the blue hair and the stooped posture that threw her off......

Yikes! :scared1: :scared1:

Just remember, everyone on the thread at some point thought you were your daughter.....

Just that thought makes me feel so much better. This has NOT been a good week for me! LOL!
My children and dh thought it was the funniest thing they had heard in a long time..... When I called Jon & Michael I wasn't sure if they were going to stop laughing!

Holiday wine. You serve it hot, either as is or with a little extra unsweetened grape juice and mulling spices in it.

hhhmmm..... I don't think Jon would want it to be diluted. ;)

I've seen it all now. The trash truck was way late today. As I'm taking my trash bag out to the curb I see the trash guy tossing the trash bags and cans with one arm as he is holding and talking into a cell phone with the other! :confused3

I think he needs bluetooth! LOL!

Cherie had a scare this week. She went for a stress test and the cardiologist was sure that he saw a tumor in her heart on two separate ultrasounds. She had to go in yesterday for an esophageal ultrasound so they could get a good look at it in preparation for open heart surgery. Fun thing, it wasn't there after all just a shadow or something. Needless to say we went through a lot of emotional swings this week. Miracles do happen!

Glad to hear that it was a false alarm. Just got you card the girls look wonderful

Snowy morning in the mitten! :santa:

Most of the school districts have closed. I can barely see the school across the street! Anyone affected by this storm, please be safe. Cheryl I know you and John are getting it too!

Give me global warming!

Back to bed.

Thanks for worrying about us Tina. We got caught in the middle of heavy snow and ice storm. We got some ice last night but only c aught about 5 inches of snow here. :headache: John is off today and is snow blowing the drive as I speak.:thumbsup2 Where he does got to work.....they got about 10 inches of snow.

Say a prayer.....my DSIL has another interview today. :flower3:

I don't have the opportunity to get on often, but wanted to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. This afternoon is our company carry in luncheon so I am stuck covering the front desk and nothing is going on. Fortunately we didn't get hit by the snow, but are expecting ice over the weekend. Tuesday it took me 2 hours to go 15 miles.

It has been a pretty rough holiday season as Brett got laid off the Monday after Thanksgiving. We are hoping things will pick up after the first of the year, but things are tight for now. We cancelled our Jan. trip to WDW. Sorry for being such a bummer. Hope everyone is well...including John's b*tt.

Yeah! A couple of years ago they made a big deal about your trash bags could only be 33 gal and 50 pounds. Didn't think it was so they could talk on their cell phones!

I knew you guys would get it first. Went out and dug out with my trusty electric Toro snowblower! Kaitlin and I made snow angels. Really not a good idea at 48! Still snowing some. It has probably snowed another inch or so. Kaitlin came home yesterday and her winter jacket zipper died! We went to Meijers and they had some on sale for $16! Got some salt and couple of food items. Lot of people there stocking up.

Glad you guys are OK! :)

Glad you didn't get it. Sorry to hear about Brett being laid off. Up here in metro Detroit it is bad too.

We've never had it diluted before, but it actually tasted really good. I think we'll add some extra mulling spices next time, even if we don't dillute it.

Remember to call if you come to visit Brett's family.

That just bites. I speak to so many people with similar situations. Some of them only had 1 salary coming in so that is harder to recover at all. Best wishes to the both of you and tell Brett lots of luck for the new year.

Rich celebrated his 62nd Birthday yesterday. We had doubts he would make it a while back. And DS got some good news yesterday so it was a double celebration.

Busy weekend as I still haven't done much shopping. I have made decision to just give mostly gift cards this year. Worked out great last year.

OK, It is now official. I am the worlds worst mother.
Last night we went to a birthday party for our next door neighbor. Kids were welcome as they have kids the girls ages too. We are a very close neighborhood where all the kids regularlly sleep over at everyone else houses.
Well. thankfully, even though next door, I chose to not drink last night.
We stayed for a few hours and the kids played upstairs and the adults watched the disastrous Cowboy game downstairs.
The kids periodically would come down for snacks but mostly stayed upstairs.
Well All of the sudden Miranda was wearing different clothes than she was when we went to the party. I asked her about it and she said she wanted something more comfortable so she went home and changed.
Well at about 10:30 Bill goes home because he had to work at church pretty early this morning (he volunteers running the AV dept). I stayed until about 11:15. Megan was downstairs and I thought Miranda had already gone home when Bill did so Megan and I went home.
The house was pitch black so I sent Megan up to her room and went to bed.
Fast forward to this morning when Bill calls me from church and says we should go out to a steak place for lunch and when he would be back to get us and go as soon as he got finished with the last service.
I go upstairs to wake up Megan and when I get to Miranda's room- she was not there! :scared1: Ok, after I run screaming for her through the house I try to mentally retrace my steps from the night before. There was no way I was calling Bill right in the middle of the service when he is in a control room with 5 other people to say "Do you know where Miranda could be?" :sad2:
The possibilites were either that Miranda was:
a) kidnapped on my frozen porch while waiting for us to let her in the night before
b) She froze on our doorstep and hungry wolves carries her away
c) One of my neigbors had realized what a deadbeat Mother I was and taken pity on Miranda and she was still there.

I throw on clothes, run next door and there is Miranda - in the same clothes as the night before, eating at the next door neighbors!! Oh yeah! Imagine how stupid I felt saying "Uh, thanks for letting my kid sleep here since we locked her out of the house last night" :sad2: Did I mention it was 25 degrees here last night?
Turns out she tried to come home and the door was locked and house all dark. She went back to the party and played until my other neighbors left and walked her home to our house. When the house was locked, they took her back to the party where they just kept her all night.
yep- Mother of the year!!!! :scared:

All's well that ends well....

Hey, you are probably way up there on the "cool meter" with all her friends, letting her do whatever she wants.....

Glad it worked out ok, good thing you have responsible neighbors....

Just curious, did they knock or try the doorbell?

I shouldn't laugh! I am so glad it ended well...although I think I would have pounded on the door until you answered. Don't worry...the worst you will have to do is live down .."let me tell you about the time my mom forgot me at the Christmas party" for the rest of your life ;)

Ken has posted some images up on our website of what this place we call home looks like right now.

Victoria rarely sees snow and if we do - usually only lasts for a few days and then it's gone. We have over 12 inches on our deck right now and it's still snowing. According to history, we only have a 7% chance of snow for Christmas and they are already confirming that we will have a white Christmas along with all the rest of Canada for the first time since 1971.

Yeah- you would think so, but no. No one knocked. I would definitely have heard if they had even knocked- forget the doorbell.

I was teasing Miranda that she is bound to remember (and remind) me of this for years to come.

Come find us and we all will be your friends!!!;) How are wedding plans :confused3 going??

I have to figure out how to find you all over there!

Wedding plans are going well... I think Brendan has his grooms men chosen (just has to "officially" ask them!) I designed my save the dates (magnets) just have to design the card...all the other stuff will have to be done starting in feb!
