8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Based on recent weather conditions i take it you own a small boat!

Celestine

Yeah, I just talked with Mum & Dad, seems they've now had 3 days in a row w/o rain.

Currrently its looking like Cardiff->CDG->TGV-DLP. Now it depends on what price Disney is charging for the Disneyland Hotel per night.

Is your Navy db stationed at Camp LeJuene? That's where one of my db's and I were born. ;)

No, he's actually in the reserves now. He was active duty for 13 years: Norfolk, Naples, and Bethesda. He got out of active because he was told his next tour would be on a ship and he didn't want to leave his 4 daughters. So he moved close to my parents in Asheville, NC. He was recalled for a year - thankfully only to Texas and not Afghanistan - but it was still hard on my Dsil. Thank goodness my mom had just retired. :thumbsup2

My dad was in for 20yrs and was only on a ship for 6 wks. :goodvibes And it was his first year -- before I was born! ;)
I can understand him not wanting to be away!

Mike!!! OMG that really did bring tears to my eyes! I really wish I had it to do all over again! It was a beautiful slide show! Thank you! :goodvibes

Waaaaahhh!

You made me cry. I miss all you guys!

You also made me laugh, so thank you!

I loved it so much, you brought me out of lurkdom just to say thanks!

ETA: Look - 11 posts in 4 years!

What kind of clips, Cheryl? Are these the "innocent" clips or the "not guilty" clips? Some pirates were supposedly more entertaining than others... :lmao:

Let's put it this way Kim.........John has over 8 ours of DVD clips which a lot are in RBD at night. ;) :dance3: :dance3:

I finished the slideshow that I was working on, and posted it over on the photo sharing site.

Repo "Share a Dream" Slideshow

Thanks to all who have posted pictures on the smug mug site! There are pirates that we shared many fun times with, and had few or no pictures of, but now we do! There are still some that we don't have any pictures of, too. So if you haven't thought about uploading your photos, please do so!

After all the luck I have been wishing for A's and you make me cry!!!:rolleyes1 It was really great and can't express(yes I am speechless even in person) how wonderful the trip and people were!!

The Baltic is too cold for my liking, but the final Med run followed by the repo would be fun - 24 nights of Magic......hmmmmmm

Andy

A little chilly for me by at least 40 degrees. :rotfl: :rotfl:

This makes it much harder for me. I can't do a repo in Sept. Can't take Trevoy out of school and not sure who I could leave him with. OMG just realized he'll be 15 by then!

I'd love to do an April repo, especially since my birthday is 4/9, but again, Trevoy will be in school.

I may check into a Baltic but I wanted to go in August and now looks like they may be back in the Med by then.

UGH!! I don't like this at all if this is truly what's happening.

Just think of it this way...........No children will be on the cruise!!

I hope you kept your Sony Mini DVD camera. John shot over an hour on each mini and the quality is beautiful.:dance3: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: We have over 8 hours of videos and he is now putting them on a large DVD.

Thanks Andy...........yours was very up-beat but still made me miss everyone.:sad2:

Arlene....... I loved the clips and thanks for trying to walk John through posting the videos.  We called in more help.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I just added pictures to smug mug. :yay: Not too hard if I can do it with only a few mistakes. :thumbsup2 I still have to up-load John's pictures from his Memory card from his camcorder yet.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Maybe we can all start homeschooling the kids in March 2010 and we will call it one big "fieldtrip". We have enough experienced home schoolers in this group to help us figure it out! :goodvibes

So when does THIS 1st image come into consideration?

feufineart.jpg

Hey Cheryl!

It just so happens I still have it. And I have it cuz I had not given it any serious thought recently. It was a really good deal after all in some ways ... more so I thought this because I saw it on sale (not advertised special mind you ) at the local Frys' electronics superstore for $400... so I mused GEE.... I paid only $125 I think? Now right now I don't quite remember what I paid .... but I do vaguely recall including all my stuff and discs and had been thinking of wanting $175 on ebay (net) to get all my "fair" cash out of it. IE, 2 batteries, charger, 50 DVD discs (40 left now) came to about $175.

So... anyways.... for that kind of sum I figured before - and reaffirmed today that I just might .... keep it. Unfortunately ... I have not as yet settled on what I'll keep or sell. Look at it this way... 1) That new HD Canon Camcorder I got which records to SD memory card - well I have 70GB of footage shot.... but no viewable discs burned or shared. 2) The low def Sony #103 camcorder has shot 9 discs of 20-30 minute movies and I've already viewed them and given a couple movie DVDs away to friends. 3) As yet I don't OWN a HD or Blue Ray high definition player (or burner)... so I still have to gear up for this. I do have a HD TV.... but it's resolution is 720p ... not as high as the 1080p of the camera. So does this mean I need a player and burner ... YES, Plus 4) I might need new higher power computers and softweare to manipulate and edit the HD movie footage .... and ... 5) do I need a 1080p HDTV? Well I COULD use one .... but I don't know how far I'd get with that on account of my mentioning to Alicia yesterday and today that 6) I wanted a nice 2nd hand Ferrari mondial or 348 (even though it only has 2 seats)...

res20040901af_p07.jpg

... all this on account of another family leaving soccer practice in a nice black Mondial. .... and the other thing was 7) on account of my posting the digital camera thing this morning I turned to Alicia and quipped that I think it's time to update my equipment kit - and that I wanted that $2200 28-300 f3.5-5.6 IS L lens plus a nice superwide 16-35 L plus a new body of some sort - either an EOS 1 series or possibly I'd step down to the new 5D mk2... either $2600 or $4000+.

All told the DSLR thing would cost $6000 - 7500 or possibly 10,000+ with all the thoerotical bells and whistles ... and I told her in ...even... serious tones. She was quiet for a moment and then I could see she had quickly figured out my prevailing "material" passions would cycle away as quickly as they've cycled in. After 24 years together you begin to recognize a few things in one another!

And SO.... she has Steph and ANDYR to blame for that - and that other soccer family for the Ferrari thing. In the end all I need is what I got now that I found the local camera store was closed on sundays (drat!) so I was unable to go "PLAY" with a 28-300 f3.5-5.6 IS L... and on the Ferrari thing... I DO need 4 seats - and I need a car that the Samoyed would be OK to ride in + all the gear it takes to haul around in support of soccer, beach going and Disneyland visiting.

Sigh....

SO on account of her resisting my Ferrari and Camera ideas - I told her everything she tried on today while shopping looked really BAD. She has not yet figured out WHY I was so criitcal I suspect.... < steady silent grinnin' >

shig.gif

I figure I saved maybe $200-300 today with DISing all the things she tried on today at Macys!

I think I'll go catch a movie to unwind now.

We're reserved for the Princess cruise over Halloween now - but waiting for my Dad to confirm his end. He didn't call and our TA was nice enough to hold our cabin requests 24 hours w/o money. So we're reserved with cabins but NOT locked in with money ... yet. I cancelled the january 3rd 2009 NCL cruise in favor of this one... and saving $800 in the process... and moving to a 2 year newer and 10,000 ton bigger ship! < wink > Whew!.... looking at the deck plans on the Princess Sapphire I've NEVER seen so many decks, cabins or dining venues. I was briefly thinking of bringing an electirc cattle prod along to cut my way through the 1000s and 1000s anticipitated in the "herd" on board...

OK ... So I'll close with the thought that I hope everyone had as much fun teasing their spouse, kids or friends as I did today!!

Andy that was way cool -- but, i suspect you already know I thought you were way cool!

10ds says *Eddie plays some ridiculous solos* Which at first I thought might be a slam then I realized that it was a compliment..... I guess even my 10yr old is cooler then I am! :rotfl:

After all the luck I have been wishing for A's and you make me cry!!!:rolleyes1 It was really great and can't express(yes I am speechless even in person) how wonderful the trip and people were!!

Cheryl, I was talking to one of my cousins today (the one that came home-Sept 26, 2007-and found her dh dead in his chair) and I promised her that we were going to be in Chicago (Mt Prospect) for the reunion in June. The last weekend in June. She told me that she would be sending me weekly reminders so, I had no excuse! :rotfl:

A little chilly for me by at least 40 degrees. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I really think that once Jon thinks about it he will think it will be too cold, also.

Just think of it this way...........No children will be on the cruise!!

Except possibly mine! :rotfl2: :lmao:

LOL! I did a ton of research before I bought any of my other lenses so, I know I have research to do now........ DH wants new camera stuff BUT, I know how it goes...he wants me to read everything and learn how to use it and then hand it to him and just tell him what to do! LOL!

It sounds like y'all will have a great Holloween cruise!

Whatever you said but we did pay $349 at Best Buy last Thanskgiving for the camera(with lots of extras) and he did not record in the high quality as to get more on mini. :woohoo: The quality was perfect except for the lightening in RBD.:flower3: He will have to take a few lessons in putting it into smug mug. He also had to read the directions on our DVD player to transfer the mini's to the larger DVD which he is doing but will take time.:headache: :headache:

I could get your phone number and talk to Alicia:rolleyes1 ....all I know is when I told her I feel sorry for her married to you;) ...........she rolled her eyes and laughed.:lmao: :lmao:

I guess I am afraid of going on anything but DCL since three out of three cruises have been getting better and better. :dance3: :yay: :dance3:

Did I tell you I got two $100 vouchers out of United again.:confused3 That is what they get for not giving be my boarding passes on the ship for my transfers.
