8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #14

Okay, it is now official . . . at least at this point in time.

The captain came on over the public address during dinner time and announced that, as they are tracking Hurricane Hanna, there has been a shift to the track and that we will now be going to Nassau, Bahamas tomorrow (Wednesday). He said that if we did not go tomorrow, we would not be able to go at all this week because they are expecting the bad weather to hit Nassau tomorrow evening/night.

What that means for us making Castaway Cay on Friday still remains a mystery.

But, at this point in time -- and we all know that can change in a moment's notice, we are back on for Nassau tomorrow.

My suggestion for the new ships is a real place for the tweens to go. It seems that Ocean Quest doesn't hold their attention. I don't know if it is the location, the size or the activities, but the tweens "hanging out" around the ship were more annoying than the most of the stinky teens. Since the Ocean Quest space was originally conference rooms and was retrofitted during a dry-dock,maybe it just isn't as good as a specifically designed space would be.

I agree with KTTW card for laundry facilities and that they should have PhotoPass on board. How about some sort of big screens for the photo viewing area and when you spot one of yourself you could tag it somehow. Even cooler would be to use face recognition technology!

Pamela

I totally agree about the tweens - DS didn't really like most of the activies that they offered but he made some friends and they used OQ for a place to hang out. He was really looking forward to the "lava flow" make a volcano one but he said when they actually got to make it, it was very lame

It was bad when I could figure out all the 'magic' he was doing, which wasn't much. And don't get Todd started. For those that don't know, Todd does some magic himself and he was disgusted with this guy. Apparently he stole a well known trick from another magician and didn't even perform it properly.

He DID make alot of people disapear :rotfl: I'm glad we're not the only ones

My good news/bad news...
Came back and found out I DO still have a job, Boeing didn't start the process to say I abandoned my job. Though it still looks like a very distinct chance we will be going on strike as of 12:01AM Thursday. The union is recommending that we vote no on the contract Boeing is offering and also vote to authorize a strike. We vote tomorrow and will know by tomorrow night if we are striking. I need to look over paperwork to find out what the company is offering.

Discovered that while we were on the TOAL, someone was using my debit card number fraudulently to the tune of about 2500.00. Since DH and I both have our cards, they had to have made a card with my number on it. All the activity took place up here in Washington. Don't know when, where or how they got the number. I should have the money back in my account in 10 business days at the most. It could take up to 60 days to research everything.

OK everyone, I'm having "TOAL" withdrawl!

It was Kaitlin's first day of school. Went over to the school with her and found out my Box Top kindergarten kits came, so I spent the morning putting them together for tonight's open house. Unpacked all 4 bags and did laundry.

I truly had a great time. It was wonderful meeting everyone, even if one of you gave Kaitlin a hard time about Ely & EJ! You know who you are! :rotfl2:

Back to full reality tomorrow. :sad1: I go back to work and Kaitlin has a full day + ensemble practice from 3:30 to 6 PM! She will only be taking jazz/hip hop this year as that is the only dance class that fit into our schedule, but she is OK with it. She said ensemble is her first priority. I told her I couldn't do the mad dash home from work anymore, not that I can with all the road construction projects going year round now.

I'm having TOAL blues now. I miss Rockin Bar D. I miss you guys. Billy where are you? :lmao:

Glad everyone got home safely.

ok i'll admit....

I think i kept it together fairly well since leaving the ship...

This afternoon though as we taxied down the runway for takeoff...It all hit me that it was OVER...and i started to cry....

We made it home ok with all our luggage....

Never did make it to TL yesterday... It was noonish when we got to our resort and we were pretty tired so decided to just stay at the resort pool. (OKW)

It wasn't the Adult pool though and i kept waiting for the "barfly" crowd to show up.

We met up with Brack and Annette at Downtown Disney last night and they send their love.

We finshed off the evening by taking the bus over to Beach Club to have dinner.....

I couldn't say no to a NO WAY JOSE...could I? (actually i figured the diet was blown about 15 days ago anyway.)

While waiting a huge amount of time for a table we spotted Tigger24 and her family who had the same idea as us... (It's a small world after all)

See all Frednecks think alike ;)

Since our table came up first, we asked them if they wanted to join us for dinner to save the wait.

We took the boat after dinner over to MGM to transfer over to OKW bus.

The 1 bds at OKW are HUGE..... We'll any room is huge after 15 nights on the boat but they are much larger than the other DVC units i've stayed in.

I'll try to skim back a few pages and not tear up.... :sad1:

Can someone ran up to deck 9 and get me a drink?

(ok i tried)

Oh everyone- I'm totally having TOAL withdrawals too! wahhhhhhhhhh
it's hitting my son especially hard- don't tell him I told y'all but he's been crying off and on that it's OVER.
:(
Poor baby.. I want to cry with him but I have to be strong mama bear. :guilty:
I'd like to see them put black tar around the pool areas or perhaps lava... either have got to be cooler on bare feet than what they have there now.
LOL
I never walked out there barefoot (flipflops always) but I can only imagine how hot it was!

Trevoy slept with his lanyard on and is still wearing it now.
awwwwww
I totally reached for my lanyard (that wasn't there) when I went to open the door when I returned from getting the kids off to school. I guess I thought I needed to get a keycard to open the door. :rotfl:

Busy day today. It was supposed to be Trevoy's first day of school, but for some reason, the school he's supposed to be going to doesn't have his records. The school he went to for most of last year doesn't have them. And a 3rd school, which is technically the one we're supposed to go to according to our address, says they don't have them either. Although I've gotten the automated phone messages from this 3rd school. Fortunately he has the same teacher this year as he had last year, and she knows he's supposed to be in her class. He'll be starting tomorrow, whether or not they find his records.

Still haven't gotten any of my mail. There may be something in there about the school situation, but since I had a vacation hold on, I haven't gotten anything yet. Our mail delivery is usually late in the afternoon. But I can't remember if I scheduled today as my return day or tomorrow.

No news on the job yet. No phone calls or emails from them.

Came home to some sad family news. Found out my uncle passed away. Tough timing (well it's always tough) but this past weekend was our family reunion. None of his part of the family were there. We always referred to him as our "Fearless Leader" since he was the eldest of my dad's siblings. He lost his wife of 60+ years about 6 months ago and deteriorated rapidly after that. Broken heart I believe. Wish I could go to the services but I have no one to take care of Trevoy.
Aw man!
I hope they get the school records thing corrected...... soon!
And I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. :( It does sound like broken heart. I'm sorry you can't go to the services. I'd keep Trevoy for you if you lived closer. hehe

I picked up our mail earlier (I had it set to deliver today at first but then before the cruise I changed it to me picking it up- I figured it would be so much that it would be better to pick it up) and spent a portion of the day going thru the MASS of mail I had. geesh it was a lot of mail (mostly junkmail which went in the trash-ola.....)

I DID actually unpack a few bags, get some loads of laundry done, pay some bills that are like due very soon- unbelievably even though I paid all our bills right before we left- some are already almost due AGAIN. I guess we really were gone a long time huh? LOL
Youngest two are doing homework, oldest is at band rehearsal (they have practice before school every day and 3hr practice on Tuesday evenings, games on Fridays but this week it's thursday because of the away game needing to use their stadium on thurs instead of Friday, and then competitions most Saturdays. this I was NOT looking forward to- let me tell you. Especially the practices before school so we all have to get up mega-super early to take her. sigh I need to become good friends with one of the parents of a DRIVING band member (ie: a jr or sr) and talk them into picking her up in the mornings. :lmao: Or something.......
DH went to Walmart last night to buy some necessities (hey, they went to eat at Cici's without me- so I had him go by the store on his way home! LOL) and got stopped there by his boss who asked him to come in to work EARLY today. Sometimes living in a small town is a real pain. LOL So he went in to work at 4am and just got off work at 8pm! (he went in 2hrs early- worked 4hrs late too) He's gonna be one tired puppy tonight I bet...... guess he won't be mowing our jungle tonight (that used to be called our front and back yard but for now is referred to as jungle because that's what it looks like! almost anyway...)

I'm really not in the mood to unpack. I even just walked around cleaning house everywhere and cleaned up the kids rooms some too- avoiding unpacking best I can. LOL

So we are home. Actually we have been home for a bit over 24 hours. I am still in denial that I am home. Despite already being at work. I drove myself to and from work today. The first time I drove since I hurt my foot 5 weeks ago. It was a bit painful but not too bad. Then again my commute is almost 40 miles each way and takes about an hour.

I am in major withdrawal. I had an awesome time despite the gimpy foot. I just hope it healed. I am trying to figure out how to get to Norfolk, to see the Magic in Dry dock. I do not think I can handle the 6 hour drive each way though.;)

Hope you are all doing well.

Here is the letter from Captain Tom Forberg, captain of the Disney Magic, which was waiting for us in our staterooms after this evening's show:

Dear Disney Magic Guests:

We trust you had an enjoyable day today at Disney's Castaway Cay.

As many of you may be follopwing the current predictions for Tropical Storm Hanna, I wanted to let you know that we too are closely monitoring the storm's progress. Since the storm's predicted path has now shifted south westerly, we have decided to return to our originally scheduled itinerary for your sailing.

Therefore, tomorrow we will visit Nassau and have our scheduled day at sea on Thursday as we remain a safe distance from the storm. Our itinerary for the remainder of the week will be as follows:

Tuesday - Disney's Castaway Cay
Wednesday - Nassau, The Bahamas
Thursday - Day at Sea
Friday - Disney's Castaway Cay
Saturday - Port Canaveral, Florida

Please know that we will continue to monitor the system as it moves through the Bahamas and appreciate your cooperation and understanding during these inclement weather conditions.

Again, thank you for sailing with us.

Sincerely,
/s/ Captain Tom Forberg
Disney Magic

Extra special thanks to:
All those that particpated in the FE exchange- what fun that was and what awesome items we received! Thank you all so much! (and special thanks to Julie for task forcing the cabin updates for the FE exchange!)

All those that handled the shirts, lanyards, nametags, wristbands, patch exchange, etc. You guys are awesome!

A Litle Pixie Dust for the water shoes- thank you!

Cruisin'Mike's wife Linda for the use of her tiki mickey shirt/skirt- I appreciate it so much!!!! I almost forgot to return it to you- that's why when I was packing the last night I had my husband run it up there real quick (and apparently you weren't there so you may not know my husband ran it up there LOL) I really hope that didn't mess up your own packing! I'm sorry- I really did almost forget to return it to you! :scared1: (and thank you for the FE gift- way cool- love it!!!!)

Lotsofboys for the tickets you bought for us.. you saved us a ton of money and I didn't even find you on the cruise to give you real hugs for doing that for us! wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh (did you get my note on your door though? I wondered if you got it)

darthrugby for all you did planning and organizing the rugby practice, game and ofcourse for the Konk Kooler & DH's beer. You rock! Jeff had a great time- especially for someone who didn't know a lick about rugby until the practice. LOL
And btw..... it's Nicolette I'm supposed to be addressing the DVD to that I'm sending-right? I found it last night........ in the inside zipper pocket of the luggage that I decided not to take and took everything out of it (and put that stuff in other luggage to take less with us) but apparently FORGOT to get the stuff out of the zipper pocket. That was one of the many things I left in that luggage like a goofball. LOL And I managed to make sure I kept your address that you wrote out. I'll be sending that to your daughter tomorrow- promise! :)

CaptainCrash- for the ice cream bar eating contests which I think were totally awesome! DCL should totally add that to their navigators as a regular thing they do. LOL Extra special thank you for the tinkerbell shirt! That was so unexpected and I'll be honest- I worried it wouldn't fit me because well, things just usually don't fit me- especially Disney tees- they are usually too tight in areas I don't want them to be or otherwise too long in length and too long on the sleeves- but this one fit PERFECT! I absolutely love it. I wore it on the day before Castaway Cay but I don't think I saw you that day. I'm sure if I had seen you again I'd have been gushing about how it fit me perfectly. Maybe I need you to go shopping for my clothes since you made it look so easy? Or your wife if she's the one that picked it out? :lmao:

Doreen, Marty, Daniel and Karen for being the best tablemates (& teen spy/personal photographer... hehe) anyone could wish for. We miss you already!!!!!!!!!

Wendy (smeecanada) for organizing the Electrical Parade meet and being so kind & friendly to us during the cruise!

Julie and Monica for organizing the fantasmic meet and putting out sheets for us and sitting there forever to hold spots for us and everything. that was awesome! (and special thanks to Monica for listening to me the few times I saw you and I'm sure I went on and on and on just gabbing away LOL I hope I didn't make you late to that last dinner!)

Grandmax3 for organizing the Wenches lunch!

All those that participated in the pirate procession at dinner on pirate night- that was so awesome and your pirate outfits were incredible!

Todd for putting up with everyone wanting their photo with "Captain Jack Sparrow". ;) Did anyone else even bother to get photos with DCL's Jack Sparrow? LOL we didn't......

And to anyone else I may have forgotten AT THIS MOMENT but please know everything you did is appreciated! I know there were lots of other things organized that we didn't personally participate in but you all deserve huge thanks for doing your part to make everyone's trip truly a TOAL! :grouphug:

Panama Canal Cruise Apologies . . .

"The path to hell is laid with the best of good intentions."

Oh, my...

There were so many DISers that I still do not know because I didn't have a chance to meet them on the cruise. Some because of schedules (I am not a night person so I would be in my room) and some for plain ol' laziness.

To the many of you I said that I wanted to meet and just never got around to it, sorry. I hope that there will be an occassion for us to get together sometime in the not-too-distant future.

All I know is that I had a great time during the PC cruise. This 5 day cruise is another story. The weather system that is called Hanna is causing glitches. But, so far, we have been having a lot of fun!

Tomorrow has been returned to Nassau day and tomorrow night is Pirate's Night.

Well, I'd best get going. These internet minutes are not cheap.

For any interested, I am still keeping the blog going. You can check it out in the link in my signature line!

Well, first opportunity to post since I got home last night about 8.

Cleaned the house till midnight (my brother house/cat sat, need I say more) so that I could open daycare up at 8AM this morning. Managed to unpack a few suitcases, only 4 more to go - the big ones - UGH!

All's I can say is that the trip exceeded all my expectations. I really didn't think that was possible. It was because of all the work and effort so many people put into making it special for the entire group. THANK YOU to all that took the time and effort to do all the stuff, big and small, that made everyone's trip more special

I'm pooped.....as I said, started up my daycare again today after being closed last year and I have had an interesting first day with a new child to my home. Let's just say..it's more fit for chat :scared1:

Looking forward to the Dummy Reunion:thumbsup2

So tired! Thank you everyone who made us feel welcomed! My kids really enjoyed the fish extenders, secret mickeys, and icecream eating contest. Everyone I did meet was so wonderful and friendly. We were pretty shy and kept to ourselves as a family most of the trip!

~Ingrid

Just want to start out by saying that I met some absolutely fantastic people & it made my cruise truly a Trip of a Lifetime!!! From excursions, hanging by the pool or late nights at Diversions....I always had someone wonderful to chat with & I can't thank you all enough! For those that suffered through my hugs & kisses on our final night....tough cookies! Here's some more!!!

Had the strangest dream last night... Dreamed we already took the TOAL...

But it wasn't a dream. It was a place, and you, and you, and you, ... and you were there. [Everyone laughs] But you couldn't have been, could you?

No, Aunt Em. This is a real, truly live place. And I remember ... But most of it was beautiful. But just the same, all I kept saying to everybody was,

'I DO NOT want to go home.' And they sent me home [any way]

Doesn't anybody believe me?

Back to school... DS11 is vomiting...

Hey M, how many more Mondays 'til vacation...

Funny I had that same stinkin' dream!!! :confused3

So sorry about DS! My DS is running a high fever & is coughing up a storm. School starts tomorrow and I'd hate for him to miss the first day. I hope his fever breaks. :guilty:

65 Mondays until 12/5/09.

:)

:cool1: Where's our thread??? ;)

  • When does the ship stop swaying.... keep feeling it every so often
  • The Magic really needs dry dock - all the broken glass, missing covers, rust, etc.
  • After spending two weeks on board, what are the top five things you hope they change/add for new ships (e.g. more/faster/bigger elevators)

1) Keep diversions open for ADULTS until at least 2am. Trying to find a place to drink & chat with some great friends at night was ridiculous!

2) Go back to the old menus! I thought the food was repetitive, unimaginative & not very good. About the only thing I enjoyed at dinner was the bread. The steak dishes were usually okay, but everytime I veered away to try something new, I didn't like it. The baby scallops were chewy & fishy tasting & they showed up frequently in any seafood dish I ordered. Desserts weren't that good either. I still managed to gain a ton of weight though. Go figure!

3) I agree about the laundry rooms. Bigger & more convenient.

4) Better family pool area with slides, water features, etc.

5) An all night cafe that serves finger/snack foods.

Hi Everyone!

Brendan and I can't thank you enough for enhancing our vacation! We had so much fun with all of you that we met and hope we can keep our friendships...

We enjoyed our group excursions, our bumping in to one another and our rockin' d bar evenings!

Thank you thank you thank you..this will be a trip that won't be forgotten....

Hopefully everyone got home or to their next destination safely!

We got home last night and Brendan's car wouldn't start! Battery gone...had to get a new one (at least it was under warranty!)

He woke up and said "I'll meet you at topsiders!"

And on a sad note..came home to find out that Petey our younger cat had died:sad1: last Friday he wasn't feeling well and they took him to vet on Saturday..cancer was all throughout his body....it was a shock because he NEVER showed any symptoms...we are all heartbroken including my Peanut cat,,he misses his buddy....

Chrissie

So sorry to hear about Petey!

Well..everything is repacked...Dh will check in for his flight in the morning...and I pick up my van in the morning as well...we leave about 10am tomorrow to start home. Spent the day at Epcot...had a great time..bought a few more things I didn't have room for in my suitcases but squeezed them in anyways! Heard from the friend who is watching Tori's fish...2 of the 3 died while we were gone...DH will take care of that Thursday when he gets home from work.

I will try and check in from our hotels along the route...looking forward to getting home...

take care!

:cheer2:my niece had her baby on saturday while we were gone but came to our home today baby and mom doing great .....

Hey folks, I hope you can bear with me through another post like this, but looks like I'm in for some rough times ahead. Trevoy is really depressed over being home. This is beyond the normal post vacation blues. He's really down. Added to that is the stress over going back to school, which is his main trigger for his depression. And he's afraid of my brother again. Trevoy was talking to his grandma about the trip and admitted that he got into it with me. My brother overheard and pretty much went off on Trevoy. Unfortunately I wasn't around and don't know exactly what happened.

We've got an appointment next week with the therapist, but I'm going to try to get him in tomorrow after school. I'm seeing the same symptoms as in the past and I fear that another hospital stay may be coming on.

I woke up with a mild cough this morning too. Fortunately the kids seem fine but I wonder how many others are arriving home with a cough? Good thing it didn't happen on the cruise!

Well if we're talking about things to do that would improve things (in our opinions) that wouldn't even take like refurbishing/changing things...
I did kinda notice (again) that the place is pretty quiet pretty much anytime after midnight- besides some groups of kids running around. LOL Jeff kept wanting to go to bed early (that's just how he is- and he got up early every day on the cruise too!) and after he was asleep I'd head back down to see a "ghost ship" pretty much. I wish they'd do later activities in the bars instead of just a band playing every night- not interested in dancing by myself. LOL Or they could show some movies later! They kept showing the GOOD shows (that I'd be interested in- like adult type shows) right at dinner times! What is up with that? They'd show kid shows all day- which we watched lots of those with the kids.. and then they'd show the movies *I* wanted to see like 5:45pm and 8pm-ish. Right at dinner times.. where we were either getting the kids fed, seeing the shows in the Walt Disney Theatre and/or getting ourselves ready for dinner- or we were AT our dining time. Then they'd show a movie at 11pm that would be a different one I wasn't interested in seeing. It would have been nice if they didn't keep putting the shows I wanted to see right at those 2 times right around dining times. :( And would it kill them to play a movie after the 11pm one? Us nightowls get bored watching the same shows 500 billion times on the tv.
I cannot even tell you how many times I saw 10,000 BC. I have it memorized. I could play any part in that movie. LOL

The times they had things open to eat didn't always work so well. If you had breakfast late in topsiders- you'd have to eat lunch again in topsiders pretty quickly after that... since it closed at 2pm (on the dot!). And I don't know why they closed breakfast at 10:30 some days and 11am some days. I just didn't get why they did that and sometimes it surprised me and then it was oops- no breakfast for BIP. Then they'd have food options on deck 9 closed till 6pm or some of them opening at 9:30pm- it just didn't all work good for our schedules and also didn't work well when trying to feed your kids before your dining time (cause they didn't want to eat with us in the dining room at 8pm and we weren't forcing them this time remember...)
Room service was good but sometimes took awhile and ofcourse the choices are limited- or atleast they appear to be so. I never was sure exactly what you could ask for- the menu they have is very limited but seemed like you could ask for other things since a couple of times we asked for different things not on there and they delivered it (like chocolate milk, the mickey bars ofcourse, chicken strips, etc.)
And on atleast one formal night (that I noticed- might have happened other nights too) they didn't even have topsiders as an option. So I guess you either go formal night or you eat junk food on deck 9. Kinda forced you into eating in the dining room on formal night, IMO.

Dining times just don't work well for us. Even this time with the kids not eating with us- they didn't like eating with the club (especially Rita because they preplate so she couldn't choose what she wanted) and having to find ways to feed them and get ready for our dining time was difficult. I honestly think that as much fun as we had with our tablemates we really just want to do -like we planned in the first place- just eating topsiders every night. Then we can just eat all our meals together without one specific time to have to do so. and I guess we'll eat junk food on formal night since that's all that is available. LOL

Well..everything is repacked...Dh will check in for his flight in the morning...and I pick up my van in the morning as well...we leave about 10am tomorrow to start home. A few of our fish died too. :( And they were my "mickey butt" fish (as I so affectionately refer to them since they have mickey heads in the "butt" area LOL) or rather HAD. I have to go get more because I like having "mickey butt" fish in my aquarium. hehe

:cheer2:my niece had her baby on saturday while we were gone but came to our home today baby and mom doing great .....

awwww, sweet new baby!
My sister is having her baby a little earlier (she's developing polyhydramnios like I had with all 3 of my kids! and has had previous c-sections as well) -scheduled -at the moment- to have her on the 15th. I can't wait to see/hold/smell/kiss sweet baby Chloe when she gets here! :)

Congrats to your niece! :)

Oh dear.
I must have missed posts about Trevoy in the past?
I had just wrote about Robert being so upset. IDK if I mentioned it before but he's gone to a therapist (and went thru some testing at school/etc.) for awhile now and honestly thought at first he might be bipolar (like Jeff) and we're still not quite sure if he is or not. But he's quite depressed at the moment too- and like you said more than just post vacation blues. I'm not sure exactly what you have going with Trevoy- if it's depression or something like bipolar or what... but I'm gonna be thinking about you both. I hope he's feeling better soon! I hope no hospital stay! :( Praying!

We're(Sara Mike and Lexi) home tired as heck but home only problem we forgot Mr. Bun at Beach Club villas but Disney is sending him on a rabbit only overnight flight.

more later I hope
