We dropped ours off at Guest Services and used our driver's licenses to get on and off the ship then. I want to say that our passports stayed at guest services for a majority of the cruise, because we even got stamps from Castaway Cay in them. I was very excited about this because I had just gotten a new passport, as my old one had expired, and I had been to England earlier that year and they DID NOT stamp my new passport when I got into London. They did stamp it when I got came back into JFK, but I was like, I'm from NY! I don't want a stamp from NY! Needless to say, I was mighty disappointed but everything turned out well as I got many stamps then from the cruise.

Thank you! :)

do you buy these BEFORE you enter the terminal?
i guess i'm so confused on what is allowed/disallowed now. i thought any kind of food at all was banned. so, we are allowed to take certain things on the flight with us? we are leaving at 530 am from buffalo next weekend. i know that noone will want to eat at that time in the morning. i dont think our layover is all that much, and i'm worried about being able to get to a counter to grab the kids some breakfast. if they dont' have something to eat at that point, they won't eat til we get to cali!! seems a bit long...but if we had snacks or i could pack a bagel, that wouldn't seem so bad.

glad you asked this, cuz i'm interested as well. i see there were diff answers posted already, so i guess we'll have to just wait and see.

are these all on the pirate zone? is that where i'll find them? thanks!
ok...i was looking and i think i'm blind. where do i go to find the stuff that needs to be printed? is it on the discussions board or the other board? sorry!!

Shannon,
Are you from the Buffalo area? That's my hometown, so, I'm just curious...well, one of the suburbs.

You can definitely take food through security. When my mom comes to visit us, she brings us cannolis and Italian bread without any problems.

I have read lots of accounts of people wearing jeans in the dining room. So, I bet he will be fine. Plus, if he is comfortable, he will be more likely to enjoy himself. I find it easier to accept jeans on casual nights than I do shorts if the policy specifically says no shorts.

I say if they are neat looking and it gets him to the dining room with you, go for it! The cruise is all about family!

From what I've read on this board- people wear jeans all the time. I didn't really notice it on our last cruise but then again I wasn't really paying attention to what everyone else was wearing. I only noticed what ONE person was wearing ONE time- and that's because it was a grown man in shorts and my DH pointed it out to me. I gave him the same line we give our kids all the time- I don't care what HE'S doing, that doesn't mean YOU'RE doing it. LOL

Honestly though- it sounds like any night is fine to wear jeans from what I've read- except maybe semi-formal/formal nights. And some nights are more casual than others too- like pirate night- and what about mexican deck party night? are we having tropical night too? And one night we're all wearing Mickey Mouse Club TEE SHIRTS..... so I highly doubt that he'd be out of place in jeans. ;)

Thanks everybody! Did not want to fight with DS every night and now DH is taking a couple of pair of jeans as well. He says on pirate night and maybe tropical night he wouldn't mind being a bit more "comfortable".

All of our trip "stuff" is bought and thrown in my room along with our suitcases. i put everyone on notice that next Sunday is packing day. WE WILL KNOW what we are packing. Then I can press what needs to be pressed on Monday and then pack everything up on Tuesday. Our flight leaves Richmond VA at 6:40am on Wed morning  Means we need to be up and ready to leave for the airport by 4:30am

We won't really be packing the DD's till the 16th. They don't come home from camp until the 15th!

Mine comes home on Saturday (9th). I did throw a few things in her room yesterday while she was home overnight to "just try on" for me. ;)

Aloha Mickey ensemble for the family is a go....

Sounds like a plan to me! :thumbsup2 Can he take a laptop and just work in the hotel while you enjoy DL?

Uh :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: not really. He runs two restaurants Lisa.

Work in the hotel would need a kitchen and air mail.

We're going to arrive late and no rental car and not going to DL the first night (even though apparently it's open till midnight)- so we might be starving when we go to bed that night! I checked Mimi's cafe online (resturant near HoJo's) and it's EXPENSIVE just for hamburgers and stuff. :(

Remember thought that if you came in at 11pm even that your stomach will be on Central Time (so two hours later)

We leave DC (well VA) so early in the AM that sandwiches won't really work because it's just too early. I'm thinking a good snack would be OK. I plan to bring those little tubs of Peanut butter.

Guess what though.... WHen i went to book DD's ticket, i found out that the seat next to mine was taken...(the aisle) I had to put DD in the middle seat across the aisle from us. I figure if i just suck up to the person maybe they will switch with her. (ahhhh either that or we keep passing stuff back and forth to each other until they switch out of shear fustration.)

Or at least i won't have to listen to her ipod.:rotfl:

re: your mickey aloha ensemble is a go comment- how do we know which nights are tropical night, mexican deck party, etc? Just curious........

And to the rest- we're arriving 9pm-ish but yes, it will feel like 11pm-ish to us. But since we're used to just eating dinner and also used to staying up late anyway- long as we eat something on the flight we should be fine. :)

Bill said we might need to do an undergarmet load but that will be easy. Could even wash in the sink.
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Last night was a slight over indulgence of margaritas. All of my neighbors met at the pool on our street and since DH is the president of the HOA, we had the key to the kitchen and we set up quite the margarita making assembly line. I was surprised to see my neighbors in church this morning but we all made it.

washing in the sink -- Tide makes small packets od det. (3 in a pkg) specifically for washing clothes in a sink, quick disolve!

the margaritas -- Man, I wished I lived in your neighborhood! :rotfl: It sounded like lots of fun!!!

Yeppers... if you drive anywhere it's pretty much guaranteed a long drive- in Texas. LOL Too bad DL isn't in Texas instead of Six Flags, huh? :rotfl:

You got that right! :thumbsup2

I won't take the word of the DCL 800# reps for this. They are so wrong about so many things. How many of them have passports anyway?

:rotfl2: I'm surprised by the number of people that don't have them...... One thing that dh has always told me (when I was dragging my feet about getting the kids passports years ago) - You never know what opportunities are going to come your way and you have to be prepared to act quickly. ;)

28ds has had the chance to make several out of the country trips for work because he is the only IT tech with a passport. The IT director has one but, he can't leave the home office.:rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: Do what we did when all of us flew down to Cancun for DD's wedding (I think there was around 20 of us on the same flight). They actually put other people in our area - we all booked at the same time so, the airline could have tried a little harder to seat us together -- we would all laugh and talk across and up rows of people! We are a talkative, rowdy bunch! LOL! Several people offered to trade seats. ;)

You won't know for sure until the night before when you get the next days Navigator.
Now when we did the 10nt Disney let us know ahead of time the *schedule* for the dinners and I planned accordingly! LOL! We had Tropical night then, too.

That should be no problem with DD. We may even enjoy the peace and quiet perhaps...:rolleyes1

I'm off to figure out this paypal stuff before i'm drawn and quartered...

Night 14 is the Ballroom under the stars night

Mexican deck party - day 6 - Acapulco (Aug 22)
Semi Formal - day 8 - at sea (Aug 24)
Tropical night - day 10 - Cartagena (Aug 26)
Pirate night - day 13 - at sea (Aug 29)

Hello everyone.. its been so busy around here. I think I have 4 big events coming up before we leave.. UGGG I need more time..

Can someone tell me if there is a final count or at least a ball bark figure for FE.. I need to make sure I have enough gifts to go around. I asked me son if he is willing to deliver them with me since he has been on every aspect of the ship I think(legally of course).

Thanks for any info..

We leave in a week and I am running out of some clothes since I have most of them packed..lol

I do have enough room in a suitcase for xtras... I am thinking of getting heavy items I may need in LA or near DISNEY.. Packing shoes in carry on to avoid the weight too..

OK...

we're back from the soccer team meeting... we had 5 show (including us) .... 1 call to apolagize as they're out of town... and we had one late reply with regrets at not making it. The 8th player has yet to be assigned.

We had a nice little informal gathering. I served 2 varieties of ice cream plus some lite beverages and snacks.

It's looking to be a nice group so far ...

What are we in for......?

DD went to a friends birthday party today at a build a bear place. The kids had the option of building bear (which she'd done for her birthday back in May) or take home a Webkinz. She came home with a Webkinz.

My son would have done the same thing. He is always wanting a new one.

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
Shawn got his new heart!!!!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

OK, that means nothing to you...DS9 has a good buddy from Alaska who was born with a heart defect. Great kid, great family. DS's entire K class and most of the school did the local Heart Walk and the school still does it every year for Shawn. Towards the end of 1st grade, Shawn was accepted into the heart transplant program at Stanford. We did fundraisers, we've send cards, we've prayed. FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS of his 9 years, Shawn and his mom have been LIVING at the Ronald McDonald House in CA waiting for a heart (while his dad & 2 sisters stayed in Alaska). Two and a half years!!

Of course, we all know that a family had to go through the unthinkable in order for this to happen. Shawn's donor was 7 years old.

I read the article to DS this morning. He looked and DH and me & went to get us tissues.

What a story of dedication for that family! Although very difficult, I'm glad the family of the 7 year old graciously donated the organ and hope all turns out well for Shawn.

QUESTION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE CRUISED DCL WITH A PASSPORT BEFORE....

Now that we have gone and spent all the money for a passport I want to get the stamps in it when we go somewhere. I think that I read on the main board that you need to drop your PP off at guest services to have them do this. Is this right or is there something else you need to do. TIA!

I am not an expert on this as until now DCL, have taken our passports into custody for the full cruise as we are Non USA residents, however I to have read on the main forum, that you can get your passport stamped with the ports of call, just go to guest services, it has to be on the day off the port call, not after, and they will get it done. Use your D/L to get on /off instead.

I guess they take it off into the port building and get them to put the stmp in during the day.

Thanks for asking and the followup (plus the few others later). I asked this same question on the main board a few months ago and was told that you had to get it stamped yourself in port. However, it appears that others have had success with leaving it at GS, so we will definitely try that first! That would be so much easier! We would love to get ours stamped as well.

Happy Anniversary
