I have heard from some family friends (and the Disneyland board) that have just gone and at times the weekends have been slower than mid week. I am not counting on it, but that sure seems bizarre!

Not necessarily. If everyone knows that the weekends are more crowded, then everyone will tend to go mid-week and avoid the weekends, thus resulting in the weekend becoming less crowded.

Or put another way - be sure to post everywhere else on the DIS how terribly crowded DL is on weekends, and how it's particularly expected to be incredibly crowded on the weekend of the 15-17 (what with an entire ship worth of passengers coming to the parks that day along with all their friends and families). That people should do everything possible to avoid that weekend because they expect it to set attendence records. Etc.....:rolleyes1

Hi Gang,

I think I'm getting a little stressed - I had a dream that the Pirate Bus took everyone not to the Port but to Puerta Vallarta and to the zip line tour location. And - they provided a picnic lunch for everyone!!

Okay - back to packing - etc.

Chris....I have been having cruise dreams/nightmares for months now. A couple of days ago, my dh said to me "Oh man, I had a nightmare last night..."
Me: (gasp) "About the cruise?"
dh: "No....I dreamt that Ohio State was loosing to Northwestern! Like 80-30!"

Guess who does all of the vacation planning in our family? :rolleyes1

Arlene, we usually drive to Florida but 2 years ago we flew. Of course they chose us to put through the ringer. They searched us from head to toe. I thought they were going to do body cavity checks next. Johnna was practicly in tears. I just don't understand. They chose a family of 4 with 2 little girls to body search. Haven't flown since. This should be interesting.

Is there a task force leader for the speedo parade? Because I wanted to sign up.

Oh! Can't wait to see Peter's - you all know how handy he is - Peter are you bedazzling too? :teeth:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I know where you got this - I know where you got this! I have the original and you showed have seen how people would stop and stare while laughing their behinds off. Only I have it in white - like the blue a bit better.

No! No! No! I am the ray of sunshine! Just ask M. (BTW, thanks M, my wife loves the "ray of sunshine" title and has taken to calling me that along with her other pet name for me).

You are so flippin' sunshine, you are the Earl of sunshine.

I was wondering if I should bring 2 deoderants?

We have trial sizes for our first day in California..we will pick up regular sizes when we get there....

2 sunscreens..too much or is that good?

Chrissie

I think 2 sunscreens is good - I am bringing 3 but I have a fair skinned blond DS

2 sunscreens..too much or is that good?

Chrissie

I guess that depends.......How dark is your skin, Chrissie? Do you tan easily? You could always pick up more in a port if needed. I will probably have 3 for 4 for my family to share.

This time in 2 weeks we will be at Orlando International Airport waiting to go thru who knows what :lmao: Last time I flew was around 1999 so I have never been subjected to all these rules.

Time to go thru the rest of the lists.

Just have your ID & boarding pass out, once you get close to the x-rays take your shoes off and anything extra that you might be carrying or wearing, i.e bag, hat, sun glasses, cell phone & have them ready to go through the scanner. And as for liquids:

All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.
All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared.

Easy beans unless you get randomly pulled aside which has happened to others here. I only got pulled aside at Logan in Boston once. I was travelling alone so they made me go through the explosive sniffing machine where they blow air up your....body. ;)

DD27 and her boyfriend came over for dinner last night and broke the news. They have finally set a date for their wedding. They have been together for a few years and have been talking marriage but had not set a date. They are getting married on July 11, 09. They said I could give them a Disney Cruise for their honeymoon. :rotfl2: He is a great guy and is very good with her son. I will have to find something special for them on this cruise.

Congrats!!! :woohoo:

ATTENTION WENCHES

The voting for the Wenches' Parrot Cay Lunch concluded with the majority voting for 8/21.

Funny the Mrs :worship: said this.... I choose her, ( after this cruise):cloud9:

Which one? :rolleyes1

Deanna I know the feeling. I'm the only one trying to get everything ready for the cruise around here & the only one having nightmares about it.

You know when they will start getting excited & asking me a million questions? On the way to the "gosh darn" airport!!! :sad2:

I will be making the final updates to these lists tonight. Please be sure to check the threads on the Pirate Zone and make sure your information is correct.

Who's Doing What? located in the Itinerary section. Let us know what excursions you have, Palo reservations, Spa appointments, etc. Then check the list to see if anyone will be joining you. The final list will be published and available for download this weekend.

Grown Up Princesses located in the Sea Day 7 section. Sign up on the list if you will be participating. There may be a few trinkets for those on the list.

There is no mention of the scrapbook swap....or have I just missed it?

I guess that depends.......How dark is your skin, Chrissie? Do you tan easily? You could always pick up more in a port if needed. I will probably have 3 for 4 for my family to share.

OH! I am what you would call....PASTEY! Blonde,Blue Eyed, Irish/English girl her! My 3 "colors" are OMG white,Red and holy carp you are a lobster! (haven't been the latter in a LONG time..got it once bad as a kid and learned my lesson!)

So "tan" is not in my vocab! And most of the time I seek shade....with in the realm of the sunny areas!

Chrissie

So I am traveling for 3 weeks...
one new toothpaste,deoderant and shamp/condition?

Chrissie

Yes, that is my plan and I hope that it works. :) We will be gone for three weeks too.

LOL! This is exactly why we are going to Universal on 8/16.

Not sure if anyone else has posted this before but while updating our ipods for the trip I saw that the Cheetah Girls's new movie One World will premear on 8/22. I wonder if DCL will play this on the ship as well since it is one of their original movies, just not in theaters. :confused3 My kids have been watching the previews for it on TDC all summer. They would love to see this on the ship.

If you switch it to another date in 2009 you would still get the double OBC, but if you switch to a 2010 date, you would get the promotion at the time for 2010. When the new dates are released, DU usually offers something more than the usual OBC for those dates.

Thanks for the info Tracy!
Did I miss these? or are they not available yet?

I'm VERY grateful for all the work that goes into making them...

:yay:

The maps are at "Ye Olde Print Shoppe" right now. They're getting incorporated into the Pirate Navigator, which should be available for downloading and printing shortly.

I think 2 sunscreens is good - I am bringing 3 but I have a fair skinned blond DS

It may sound like overkill, but we're bringing 20 bottles! There are 5 of us for over three weeks, the majority of which will be along the equator in August. DW is extremely fair, and tends to bubble and blister when she gets too much sun. The twins are both fair-skinned little blondes too.

You have one of those families too???
Same here - I could talk about it and repeat things a few times but once we are this close then all of a sudden everyone has questions about EVERYTHING

:sad2:

I hope so - DD13 loves their movies and is looking forward to seeing it
If it isn't shown on the big screen hopefully they will show it on the room tv

We have Palo ressies on this night though

Sounds good, maybe our secret ploy will work and will keep everyone away that weekend! LOL :rotfl: :woohoo:
For my own expectations, I am still planning for crowds the entire time, but the weekends in the summer don't really scare me anymore, we are going enough days that it won't matter. I usually don't go in the summer, so it will all be more crowded than when I am used to. :)

I have heard from some family friends (and the Disneyland board) that have just gone and at times the weekends have been slower than mid week. I am not counting on it, but that sure seems bizarre!
My guess is that it is slower on weekends, because a lot of the Annual Passes have blackouts on weekends. This means that people that you are seeing people that have to "pay" to get in, there on the weekends.

I forgot about that machine - had it done to me in Albany back in May, very painless.

Also when I was coming back from Chicago the TSA worker wiped down my shoes inside and out - DH said that they are checking for chemicals that would be found inside a bomb.

Don't forget laptops! If you are taking a loptop with you, you must have it out and place it in its very own bin.

I will make certain that I have my ID this trip. I do not want to have to go through security without an ID again...though it was less painful than what you guys have described here. Just a quick pat down, wand and went through our carry ons but the agents were great with the kids and joked with them to keep them occupied while they went through the bags.
