I had the same conversation with my DH last night. I told him I was running out of time to get everything done. His response....don't worry about it. I guess I was looking for, what can I do to help, or don't worry, I'll help you, but no, just don't worry about it. Oh well...like sk8 said, we are healthy and able to go, and the kids just want to spend some more time with friends before we leave. Family is what truly matters above all else.:) .

I am happy to report that DH immediately finished my labels. I was putting on the labels thinking this is going to take forever when I heard my DD and a couple of friends playing upstairs. I asked them to help and they had a blast! Made very short work of it. I am brining my parents FEs too. When I got them all in, both of ours completely filled a medium sized suitcase. :scared1:
Bill also completed all my door signs. Now the only thing on his list is pack himself (not even touching that one) and all electronics; cameras, laptops, chargers, etc.

Oh I'm stressing on this packing thing. I'm working on it but I can't make up my mind what to do!
I can't decide if I should cram as much as possible in our carryons to try to make sure we don't lose anything in case our luggage gets lost- but I can't fit it ALL in carryons so then I'd have to have checked luggage too and that would be a pain to have both carryons and checked luggage when it's just me and 3 kids (most of which aren't much help with luggage so that might be more trouble than it's worth)
or
If I should just cram it all in checked luggage, not worry about having to mess with more luggage/carryons with the kids- and just cross my fingers that none of our luggage gets lost? I just get so worried about that happening because it would be a nightmare to arrive and be missing luggage, ESPECIALLY if it was luggage that had MY clothing in it or other necessary items (because it's not easy to find clothes that fit me well..... that's another nightmare for me- trying to find clothes that fit :lmao: )

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh calgon take me away! I really just cannot decide which to do.
What are the odds really of luggage being lost? I guess maybe I shouldn't even worry about it because after hearing about some luggage being lost by DCL (and the other people who got it by mistake keeping it in their rooms until the last night- which totally STINKS btw.....) we'd stand a chance for our carryons to get lost by DCL anyway! I mean what if we go thru all the trouble of tons of carryons (one each I mean) and dealing with that- only to have DCL lose one or something?
I just want all my stuff to make it there. LOL

You keep saying that you will be handling the luggage on your own. Don't they have porters at LAX? I have always seen them at the major airports around the luggage retrieval area. It would be well worth it IMO to tip one of them to take care of your luggage while you keep up with the kids.

Drive by posting....:drive:

I got a photo mat to leave at GS for the characters to sign. I'm going to put a sheet in the photo area that says:

"A honeymoon to celebrate the day that we were wed,
With no more worries of the pounds we worked so hard to shed,
Our favorite Disney characters we hope will join our cause,
And sign around the picture frame with hands, or fins, or paws,
We're gathering well-wishes with your names we know so well,
And in the years to come we'll have a Disney tale to tell."

What do you think? Think they'll sign it? I'm hoping we'll get a nice picture on board and then have this as a souvenier to hang on the wall at home. What do you veteran cruisers think? Is it worth it? Thanks!

Hey Guys! Just wanted to post, I will be out of commission for a few days. :sad2: My neighbor died suddenly on Saturday - and his viewing and funeral will take up this whole week. I must say this was probably one of the few times in my life where I have seen both my father and my brother in tears. Add to the fact that April's getting her wisdom teeth out later this morning (all four of them - YIKES!) Poor thing as if having an earthquake and stitches on her left flank ( ) wasn't enough! She had a mole removed and got serveral stitches which she makes me check several times a day because she thinks they are infected.

Meanwhile, my son has been chasing me around the house trying to get me to check out his herniated disk. YUCK! This from the guy who doesn't like his back touched.

I did tell you all that its always one thing or another with me right? Meanwhile, I did manage to take my formal to the cleaners but it will take one week to clean - just in time for leaving next week.

So, if anyone needs to get in contact with me, leave a message - I'll get back to you soon. Probably over the weekend.

Pray for me that the dreaded 3 curses doesn't happen or at least wait until I'm on the TOAL. :sad2:

:sad2: :sad1:

My condolences :grouphug:

I think that will be wonderful to add. You might want to print it up and tape it to the back so that they can read it when they go to sign it. It should make them stop and smile when they get to your matt among the hundreds of other things they have to sign. You might even get some special messages of congratulations. :)

Has anyone left an autograph book for Characters to sign????:confused3
DGC asked me and I am not sure!!:confused3 :confused3

We have never left an autograph book. I figure that is something that doesn't need the extra care to keep nice like a pillow case or mat. That is just my reasoning. The kids like to go to the characters and get signatures though.

And to the rest- we're arriving 9pm-ish but yes, it will feel like 11pm-ish to us. But since we're used to just eating dinner and also used to staying up late anyway- long as we eat something on the flight we should be fine. :)

Bip - there is probably a Burger King in the concourse when you disembark the plane. Also, a McDonald's fairly close the Hojo's.

I am glad DD25 will be home while we are gone. She can take care of the cats (one of which is hers), the mail, etc. She is also taking us to the airport early Sunday morning. And that means someone will be home with my Mom too. She is 83 years old and I would worry if she were there by herself.

I keep thinking I am finished shopping and DH says "when we stop by ABC this weekend I need XYZ." He leaves all the planning, packing, etc. up to me. He does carry the luggage, which will be 4 bags for the 2 of us. Nice to have a pack animal along.:lmao:

Big announcement here on Monday, our swim team head coach is taking a different job so he can keep his benefits with their first baby due in two weeks? Imagine that....the school board will decide on August 28 whether or not to keep our pool open at least until Dec. 31. If they do keep the pool open, he would have had a job for 3 more months, then not sure after that. One of the other coaches is stepping up to be head coach, so at least the kids know him, but our head coach started the team with one swimmer 5 years ago, we are up to 50 swimmers now, and we started swimming with him shortly after that. We are sad for the team, but know it was the right thing for him. DD is very sad as she swam in his group, but I know she will be ok with it in time. The things life deals you some times.....

Wow, you have had quite a rough season! It is a very difficult thing to lose a coach. I hope they keep tha pool open for you. It's a great sport for kids. And I hope your daughter does well with the new coach. I know how hard it is for the swimmers to adjust to someone new.

Hello! I have been lurking and learning from all of you over the past few weeks. My wife and I - along with ds 13 and ds 9 will also be on your adventure.

Welcome Aboard! I have a DS13 as well - our cabin is #5510 - which cabin are you in?
Look forward to meeting you.

Thanks for your thoughts. Our school district decided abruptly (after many meetings the year before and nothing this year until April), that they could no longer fund the pool due to budget cuts. While I understand this and agree on a certain level, to tell us in late April that we need to raise $350,000 to keep the pool open for another year is just not right on their part. They knew there were many of us that wanted to keep the pool open and we would have helped them, but they took the easy way out. It has been a lot of work, and we will keep working on it and hope for the best. Our other frustration has been our city council. They turned the pool over to the district a few years ago due to expenses and feel now that because people who live outside of the city use the pool, that they shouldn't fund it. Weird way of thinking...anyway, it is the one of the only sports my DD can do (we've seen her do others and it just isn't pretty), and it keeps our ADHD DS off of meds. (Well, that and a couple of other things we are doing, but swimming is a big part of that. With so much sitting in school, he needs the outlet of energy after school). We will just hope for the best...it truly is an amazing sport!:)

Thanks for trying......................I emailed it to Tom and he posted it.

Thanks for putting this together Sue! What a great idea!

I guess I am one of those professionals so watchout Deanna and M. I am going to find you on the ship and give a hug!!!

If I don't get at least one Cheryl hug during this TOAL, I'll be really disappointed.:(

I was wondering about this....I was going to ask this in chat so people won't be surprised or shocked if I want to give them a big hug when meeting them! It sounds like I am not the only one who does it. :)

I am not usually a hugger either but I feel sure there will be many people I feel the desire to hug. :)

I will warn you now..I am a hugger...don't mean to be really...just am. :rotfl2: Unless your body language says "back off lady!" :lmao:

Also..I am still looking for times to drop off Lanyards...so...here is my cell # 714-305-2463. Please feel free to give me a call and we can meet up! On Friday the 15th - I will be at the hotel (GC) after 6:00 PM and leaving about 9:30 AM. as well as all that other stuff I posted.

I hope everyone has safe travels!

I hope you're not expecting much food on the plane!

We've always had really bad luck finding food when we arrive late like that (not just LAX, but anywhere)... We always end up being delayed or just can't find anything. We normally get something on the way to boarding our flight to eat on the plane.

You think I am good bringing on a whole unopened Sugar Snap Peas through security? I am pretty sure I am OK.

I just feel waiting inline with an autograph book for Granddaughter would be a little silly.:rolleyes1 Maybe I better go shop for a pillowcase.:thumbsup2
