Thanks for the recommendation about the boy's dress shoes at Payless. I picked up a pair for $14.99 today and that's one more thing off my list. I also stopped at Ann Taylor Loft and picked up this for me -

I have enough dresses already for the cruise, but I couldn't resist. :)

This was after our morning of uniform insanity. This year my DS has to wear the dress uniform for school instead of just the gym uniform, so I needed to have him try on stuff. The gym clothes were no problem, I just sized up for the youth medium. The dress uniform shirt also comes in mediums, so the same thing there. For the dress pants and shorts, the saleswoman measured him and came back with a 8 husky and a 10 regular. I had just been having him try on pants in Old Navy and Children's Place last weekend and the 8 regulars were too large so I was thinking WTH with these sizes. She said that's what he measured and I tried them on him. The 8 husky was way too big. The waist bagged by a large amount and the tush and thighs he was just swallowed up in, but the length was perfect. So I tried the 10 regulars on and the waist fit him perfectly. The tush was fine, if anything a tad tight, and obviously they were too long. I didn't want to get them for him though since if they just fit him right now, how much wear would he get out of them? So she brought the 12 regular. They were too big in the waist and tush, but not really big, more the the way the 8 regulars were too big at Old Navy and TCP and they were about 5 or 6 inches too long for him. I wasn't sure what to do, so I kept trying the various sizes on him. Eventually I decided to take the 12s. On the way home we stopped at a tailor so we could get them altered. But who the hell sizes these uniforms? Granted he's a big boy, but he just turned 6, he should not be wearing 12s and the 12s shouldn't fit him the same way a 8 does in a regular store. And with everything I had to buy, including socks, a belt, a cardigan, etc., I spent $313 in the store, plus the $36 I'm spending on the alterations. And I didn't even get out to the shoe store for the school shoes yet. Aaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, didn't know that Captain Jack was part of the Renaissance!

Wrong continent and century! Saw an ad on TV last night with their pathetic Captain Jack as part of the Renaissance festival and looked it up online and they have him on the their home page as well.

Todd does the Ren faires too. Guess Captain Jack is now a Renaissance Man.

NICE!
Did you make that or buy it? If bought it...where?

Anyone know where do you find(or did you find) Pirate Costumes?:confused3

My Tia Dalma was made by my mom. But prior to that I found stuff at thrift stores. Found a white blouse with puffy sleeves and a flowy black skirt. Bought a strip of fabric and cut it to be jagged and used it as a sash. In my opinion this looked better than some store bought costumes.

Thank y'all! I'm hoping today is a better day for him! Bip, I'm sorry that you deal with back problems, also.

The epidural shots don't work for missing discs. He is actually totally missing several discs in his neck and back.:sad1:
He had those done (about 9 yrs ago) for the couple of torn/bulging discs he had (they caused him not to be able to walk without leaning against a wall and pulling himself) and the shots made a tremendous difference! :yay:

Arlene, I have had 3 series of the epidural blocks (01,02,02) 2nd series worked much better than the 1st set and the 3rd has been working since 2002. I wouldn't hesitate to get them again if that siatic (?) started bothering me again.

Same for me. Each shot worked better than the one before, which is probably why they do 3 (duh)....and they have worked for years now!

My co worker was amazed as to how the pain went away. Wonder how it works?

Guess I'm a little confused about the connection of Caribbean pirates with the Renaissance. As I haven't been to a Renaissance fair since high school, I may be missing something.

Supposedly removes the swelling and inflammation in the area so that the nerves aren't being pressed....therefore, less pain. Chemically....I don't know. I'm just glad it does.

The fluid replacement injections in the knee really worked wonders too.

Oh lord, I sound like my Grandma!!!

We are also doing Super Shuttle as we land around 9 pm. I've read horror stories about renting cars at LAX and didn't want to deal with that at night. I looked into the Disneyland Express, but after a certain time it only runs hourly and I didn't want to get stuck waiting and waiting. I know there is a risk of waiting with Super Shuttle, but I've used it before in LA and had no problems. We'll likely take that the morning of the cruise to the port as well.

I don't want to ask..but I have to... what kinda horror stories. We land at 8:30 and are renting a car. We aren't going to DL that night..we are heading north to Edwards AFB to see DS. What can I expect with a tired DH and 2 very sleepy children?

The backpack was eventually returned when someone in a suite was putting out their bags on the last night of the cruise and realized this red rolling backpack did not belong to them! My first reaction was "Geez, those suites must be HUGE to not notice a red rolling backpack for a whole week that isn't yours".

Michelle

 That's rediculous!! They could have walked it down to GS...idiots. :sad2:

Had to look at mine after reading your post- ours shows Monday at Sea- but nothing about panama canal. weird, but we obviously have to go thru there. I guess they consider that a "sea" day. :)

I didn't get an itinerary with my cruise docs. Just luggage tags, a checklist a red "make sure ya got citizenship docs & get on the boat by 4 pm", and the travel booklet. waaahhh

Things are going to start to get crazy for me....so I wanted to do these before I forget.

I asked this in chat the other night.....What exactly is the sash used for? I'm putting the finishing touches on our costumes and Kevin wanted to know. :confused3

Keel-Hauling, of course..... One doesn't always have a rope handy.... And with the possibility of demon children at the next table, one must be prepared.... :rolleyes1

It's official: I will be dressing up as Scarlett! :cool1: Bought the material and all the goods. Mum is going to whip it together this week as I have way too much to do. Stay tuned for pictures! Christopher now says, "What am I going to wear?" So now that he has decided to join in, I have to figure out how to dress him without dressing him up!!!:confused3
