I do the Arby's thing too! It is so convenient isn't it!

Chrissie

LOL! We pick up the lunchables for the kids to take on the plane with us...though I have to look for ones without the drinks this time. I will probably pack some sandwiches for DH and I for our flight to CA.

I am diabetic too, but I didn't intend to fill out the form. I just watch my carbs so I won't need a special diet. Do I still need to fill out the form?

Is anyone still going on the DCL Acapulco City Tour with Cliff Divers? :confused3 DH doesn't like to do anything that isn't DCL organized. He says this is probably the only time we will be in these places and he wants to make sure we see what we want to see. It is just the two of us so the cost isn't too bad. I was hoping there will be some other DISers coming along.

Monica, good luck and pixie dust. pixiedust: Hang in there, something will come your way soon.

Yes Terri, we are still doing the city tour/cliff divers.

Well.....

214 sq. ft. is the advertised size of the Cat 9, but this includes the bathrooms and closet, so 2/3 is roughly cabin space.

This gives 214 * 2/3 = about 143 square feet of living space?

The ceilings in the rooms are 7 feet hight, so the cubic space is about

143 x 7 = 1001 cubic feet.

If you get 9 inch balloons, you will fill a volume approximately 2/3 of a cubic foot.

Solving for "x", the number of balloons needed is

1001 = 2/3 * X

X = 1501

So you need 1500 balloons. Figure 30 or so smart add pirates would be willing to get up early to do this that means 50 balloons each.

Of course, if you just had everyone come from the bar to do this, figure an additional 250 balloons for breakage. And then what do you do with the drunk and now lightheaded pirates on the floor outside your room? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Math Alert???

Why is it that I TOTALLY understand this? :rotfl:
You know Pamela, I've always said I would if I got some slow service, normally I mention something and its taken care of, I think this cruise is cursed, the girl at guest services and I decided it must be because its my 13th cruise. :rotfl2:

Anyway, it all started when I asked for a chocolate souffle from Palos on MY BIRTHDAY as was told NO! Can't be done. Well, why is it when DH asks - they say yes? Makes no sense to me but now you understand why I have DH ask for things.

Things continued to go from there and voila - plus their being stingy with towels which is not the norm.

I don't know - maybe I just a good old fashioned bender to make me feel better. OK - anyway, I'm ranting now, back to slow service, I think that because I've been fortunate enough to have had some excellent service, I'm just not used to mediocre service. But I aired to a supervisor which has made me feel better so I'm hoping between that and candy, I might feel better. :lmao: Let you all know later.

For now, I'm going to get DH and April up and go to eat. Maybe meander my way into town and shopping. That should make me feel better. I know that I made the supervisor indignant on my behalf. Lets hope she gets somet things moved around

Lesson learned? Speak up and don't accept mediocre from Disney - her words not mine! :rotfl:

Stay tuned for more drama - oh and never piss off a Leo - right Cheryl???????:rotfl2:

Bye!

Sure can do! Your not allergice to silver are you? :thumbsup2
Sorry to hear the cruise has been unlucky (cursed). I truly hope that things turn around, and are 10 times better for the next one (hehehe). Maybe its that 1 in 10 rule, for every 10 good experiences, there is bound to be one bad. 1 in 13 isn't bad!

Laura I really hope things get better!!!

Just warn DCL there will be lots of Leo's ready to take over the ship. Just at our table there will be Arlene, you and me!!! Heaven can only help the staff or perhaps Father Mike.;) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My DD and I will be at a table right nearby, hopefully, so we can join in too. :thumbsup2 My daughter is only 11 (turning 12 embarkation day) but you definitely don't want to cross her....she's something! :scared: :teeth:

All I can say is I'm glad the PC is your 14th cruise.....:lmao:
Totally agree!! :lmao:

I'm so Happy!!!! :cool1: I was checking out Mousesavers for any ticket discounts and happened to notice that they had one for members of the Teachers Union,of which I am! So I sent an email to the folkes, asking if it was available to people from out of state, received an answer of "yes". Gave them my member # and I will have a 1 Day Hoppers (for $70 each) in my mailbox within 2 weeks!!!! :dance3:  :dance3:  :dance3:
Congrats!! :thumbsup2

LOL! We pick up the lunchables for the kids to take on the plane with us...though I have to look for ones without the drinks this time. I will probably pack some sandwiches for DH and I for our flight to CA.

That is a great idea! I can't believe its time to start thinking of these things....wow!

Brendan laughs at me because I always make a "snacky snack" bag for our flights(he doesn't think it's so funny when he is hungry on a flight!),,I have to start think about this long 5 hour flight to california...

No explanation at all. Even at first at the CC reception, when somene asked what the reason was for the stop, we got? What trouble? I guess when it happened again, at 1 pm, they had to come up with something. That's why Cpt Tom wasn't "smiling" in the pictures. I just hope they fix it - its either that or he's worried about the hurricane. BTW, they postphoned the Golden Mickeys from last night to tonight. I guess the amount of power it would take to operate the show would have drained the engines even more so instead we got Michael Harrision - a day early but he was good. Another BTW, he's going to be n America's Got Talent. Yeah! He's updated a little f his routine. Its funny - more adult humor too. I even had to laugh - and this was at the family show. :teeth:

So DH and I go to have breakfast, Parrot Cay closed so we head off to Pluto's playhouse. As we are eating, I look to my left and see a double parasailing couple going "down to get their feet wet." EXCEPT......they don't get their feet wet, they go completely under as well as the parachute. So I think - ok they will pull them out. No Go! Seems the engine died on the boat. So next I'm watching them trying to pull the couple out of the water, which is not the smoothiest mind you - the Magic is rolling just a bit in the water here. So next I see another small boat come. Everyone on the boat had to transfer after they ungraciously managed to pull the couple in the water onto the 2nd boat. They were in the water for about 10 minutes before the boat came. I'm just glad I wasn't on that excursion. I'm hoping its local toursits from hotels and not from a DCL excursion. Else, they may be wanting their $$ back. Oh and the original boat was being pulled via a rope! :scared1: NOW - are you sure you all want to go parasailing here in Cabo?

Oh yeah - according to guest services - zip lining in Cabo has been completely cancelled. WHy? not sure but she made it seem like the company was gone. Has this been discussed before and I'm just a day late and a dollar short again?

Oh yeah, Visions of the Sea managed to pull right next to us. I've never seen a ship pull this close to us in the ocean. I can practically see into the cabins windows. Even our stateroom host was surprised. They blocked our lovely view of Lover's beach for about 1/2 hour. Now they moved up a little bit. Hmm.......has DCL fallen out of favor??????? :rotfl2:

Stateroom host wanted to know how they ranked the better spot - so see, its not just me - its the 13th curse, ok - I'm feeling a bit better so off I go to see what I can do to cheer myself up. Maybe a trinket or two or three, its hot, humid and beautiful sunny - so I'm getting my hat on - someone point me to the nearest Sam's Club! :rotfl:

As for me looking - that I had nothing to do with! (Even if I did look down in time to see it all go down! :lmao: ) Poor couple, they got more then they bargained for.

Later all :wave2:

I wonder if engine trouble is contagious? Maybe the Magic infected the parasailing boat?

As for why Vision of the Seas gets the prime spot - probably because they sail there year round. Once DCL has a ship stationed on the West Coast I bet they'll get better treatment as well.

It's possible the zip-lines were cancelled due to risk of thunderstorms (at least that's the Cabo forecast is for today).

Weather.com shows Cabo at 99 degrees (feels like 105). On average August runs hotter than July (90-95 vs 87-92). Something to think about.....

Birthday Celebration Idea:

What about a special door magnet? Maybe some ballon shaped magnets with curling ribbon hanging down.

Dining Question:

How do some people know where abouts they are sitting is relationship to other people? Is there a way to find out who we're sitting with before we board? If not - it'll just be a surprise.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
STEPHANIE

I am diabetic too, but I didn't intend to fill out the form. I just watch my carbs so I won't need a special diet. Do I still need to fill out the form?

Personally,I would. Are you taking any type of meds for your diabetes? I just worry that if I'm away from Kevin and something happens to him (God forgive),I want the people down in Medical to know his history and what meds he's on.

Also, it won't hurt you to use non-distilled water....

Actually, it won't hurt me, but it would hurt the machine. The warming plate can be crusted with mineral build up...

HELP!

OK, so I've known since we booked this cruise that DS9 will turn 10 onboard (Aug. 30). But now I am stressing over what to DO about it!! It is noted in our reservation, so there should be a suitable fuss at dinner for him, - 250 or so pirates singing happy birthday should be fun! But what about the rest of the day? Does DCL have birthday buttons like in the parks?

I'm not lugging presents with us. We don't do much in the way of "stuff" gift anyway - family and friends send them too much "stuff"! Since it is towards the end of the cruise, I may buy something he has his eye on.

Sooo, what do I do for the kid's birthday??? He's a heavy sleeper. Maybe I could decorate the room in the middle of the night?? Balloons pack small & would be fun in the room. Anyone up for a balloon blowing party in the wee hours of Aug. 30??? Deck 2 forward elevator area is close to our room.

How many balloons do you think it would take to fill a Cat 9???

Any other suggestions?

First, Tom didn't figure in the cubic footage of all the furniture, so you might be able to suffocate him with as few as 1000 balloons, second (and hopefully more helpfully) I'd do little things for him during the day. If he's not too old, you could ask for a signed pillocase or hat or shirt to be given to you on his B-Day. You could make him "king" for the day and let him make all the decisions: where to eat, what to do as a family, whether or not to go ashore... I'm bringing an actual crown (for grown-up princess night) that I'd loan you for the day.

Oh Coral, it's gotta be the Real Thing or nothin' at all girl! Kevin's on an insulin pump and counts carbs and has gotten to be quite the expert at it actually. Oh before I forget, he wanted me to ask you a question; we always pick up sandwiches from Arby's to eat on the plane and at layovers,is there one fairly close to you that we can stop by before getting to your place?

Hmm- yes, there is one very close. I can run you over on our way to the airport. :thumbsup2

Well.....
Of course, if you just had everyone come from the bar to do this, figure an additional 250 balloons for breakage. And then what do you do with the drunk and now lightheaded pirates on the floor outside your room? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:drinking1pirate: :tongue:pirate: :drinking: pirate: :drinking1pirate: :hyper: :drinking: :lmao: :lmao:

Refund of port fees

I noticed this morning that I was refunded $30 by DCL last week to my Disney Visa. I contacted my TA this morning and she said just gotten an e-mail about it and that the port fees went down. It's not a lot , but it was a nice surprise. :goodvibes

Hmm, I don't have a Disney Visa!

I checked with DCL this morning and not everyone will be seeing the refund of port fees, just ones who were charged more to begin with for taxes. It seems if you were paid in full by early May, it is likely you paid the lower amount and won't see a refund.

Figures.

You are going to be just too cool for ice cream, Steph :thumbsup2

Congrats!!!!!

I told the kids that now we have to go on a car trip!!!! :cool2:

Please don't cancel Cabo, please don't cancel Cabo, please don't cancel Cabo

10ds would be very disappointed... I would have to find a 4x4 excursion in at another port for him and dh.....

SPEAKING OF SWEATSHIRTS/SOMETHING WARMER IN CASE IT'S COOL...

Does anyone have a child named Robert, that could fit in a size Small disney sweatshirt?

I ask because we have one... brand new never worn- but it's personalized with Robert's name on the front. It's red with stitch on the front with "wild" on one side of him and "one" on the other side. The size says small... but it would probably fit around size 8. Well I don't know. I can take measurements for you because all I have to go on is MY kids. It would be too big for my 8yr old daughter and my son COULD wear this right now at age 10 except the arms are too short... but my kids are on the small side for their age. So it might fit a taller/bigger child age 6/7 maybe? It's embroidered ROBERT across the top front chest area. It was ordered personalized from Disney website....... 2yrs ago...... and he never wore it. Just got stuffed in his drawer and honestly we just don't wear long sleeved stuff around here often at all. I went thru their drawers last night to see what I wanted to take, what doesn't fit anymore/etc. and this one the arms are just too short on it. Maybe I have ape armed children- I dunno. Seems when they outgrow longsleeved stuff it's always in the sleeves, not the length of the shirt though. LOL

So anyone think they can use this- I can bring it on the cruise. I'm not sure if anyone has a Robert -or knows one?- in this size range that would like to give this sweatshirt a good home.. poor stitch sweatshirt never got worn! LOL
Robert wanted me to just cut off the sleeves.. I was like you're kidding right? I mean it's new- could go to someone that could use it and besides, is cut off sweatshirts in style or something? Maybe in the gym or something..... but he's just 10. LOL

oh and I also have a few pair of khaki type shorts.
I have one pair that is size 7- but adjustable waist.
and the other pair are size 6 but they are Oshkosh and actually bigger in size than the size 7 I just mentioned!
both are shorts that Robert wore last year when he was 9..... but he was thin and not a TALL kid.... just average sized in his class at school for instance. These would still fit him but he's not on his "skinny" phase... he goes back and forth skinny- then chunks up a bit and then sprouts up in height and gets skinny again. Right now he's in the chunking up phase- just a wee bit- so I'm looking for a growth spurt any minute now, I just hope it's not a huge one right during our 3wk long vacation. LOL Anyway so he can't quite close these in front at the waist (one pr snaps, one pair buttons at the waist)

Anyway, if someone can use these, even if you can't use the Robert stitch sweatshirt- pm me please and I can bring them. they are both like the khaki shorts with the pockets on the legs of the shorts that velco closed and back pockets are the type that are inside. not stitched on the outside. One of the pair the back pockets have button down flaps over the back pockets. Just to describe them a bit more so you would probably know what I mean by that description, right?
Both of them are almost like new- he only wore them maybe once or twice each. These are like the khaki shorts he wore on the cruise last time
Just bumping this up to make sure people see it....... can anyone use any of this? If so, send me a pm please. :)

I am not sure if you have looked online but here are some options for you
Catherines.com
Avenue.com
Newport-news.com
Coldwatercreek.com
This last store sizes are true to size

They are all having sales right now on summer clothing

Some of them also have plus size short or petite for length wise

If you have a dress barn near you take a look - I was in one the other day and noticed they had a large assortment of larger sizes

As others have said, as long as you are comfortable don't worry about what everyone else thinks, why shouldn't you enjoy the dining room
Thanks but I can't order online. I have a hard enough time finding anything to fit when I go around place to place trying things on- my body and ordering online or in catalogs doesn't work at all. LOL

I went thru my clothes last night and I do have one dress that might "pass" as dressy enough for semi formal/formal (long as people don't mind seeing me in the same dress repeatedly LOL) if I could tame the girls...... if you know what I mean. I can drop quite a few lbs really quickly just by drinking lots of water (because I basically live dehydrated- I hardly drink anything at all normally!) but ofcourse yesterday was the day I said I'm gonna start drinking water like crazy to shrink up just as much as I can before the cruise- and then we get a 48 boil notice from the city.... water possibly contaminated because the pressure system (or whatever it is) went down for 20minutes.... every restaurant in town was closed yesterday too (heard that from sister who was in town to shop and had no place to eat while in town. :lmao: ) and I was like well for crying out loud..... the world is against me drinking water or what? LOL

DH brought home a big gallon thing from work though- you know those ozarka water bottles that go in the water machines at work? All the guys were taking those home from work (yes with permission) So now we have water..... now I gotta drink water..... then maybe I can fit myself in that dress. LOL

I do know what you mean. I'd gladly take an upgrade...if it can seat 6 people! I looked at their website, and it doesn't appear that they have that many vehicle types that will seat 6!

Kim
Yep, exactly. The more expensive rentals said seats 5 and appeared to be the "tiny" SUV's (tiny IMO...)
Although..... I may actually have less luggage this time than last time. Last time I packed so much stuff we never used/ never wore.. plus this time the cruise is so long I will be washing clothes atleast once (possibly once at resort before cruise, then another time on the cruise) so maybe I can manage with less luggage which would be ideal since DH aka the packhorse (LOL) won't be WITH us when we get to DL and we'll have to manage all our luggage ourselves..... youngest DD isn't going to be much help in that dept ofcourse. LOL

HELP!

I'm sure I'll be up in the wee hours anyway. If you can remind me so I don't forget- I'd be glad to help you!

BIP, I have the same problem with pants/shorts. I just went to buy some new and one size the waist was huge, and the size down wouldn't allow for eating at all! So, for now, I will just stick with what I have and cinch up the waist with a belt on the ones that are too big. Also, please don't worry about the dining room. I don't remember if you have early or late dining, but my DH and I won't be dressing up as pirates. The kids have costumes from Halloween, but we don't, so we will just be wearing the bandanas. You have paid for the dinners when you paid for your cruise, so just come and enjoy them. We all want you to come to dinner.
aw thanks  to you too!

Here are the photos (finally) of us at PacSci. We met up with Disfreaks and family and spent an enjoyable afternoon.

Wow that looks really neat! That's something I know my kids would totally enjoy!

Well.....

214 sq. ft. is the advertised size of the Cat 9, but this includes the bathrooms and closet, so 2/3 is roughly cabin space.

1001 = 2/3 * X

X = 1501

:lmao:

OK Guys - lesson learned here - don't let any distractions happen while your packing.

So last night was our anniversary. I go to bed, BTW, Cpt Tom waspresent physically for the pictures, but you could have told his mind was elsewhere. On to my other problem.

I finally realized about midnight last night that I had never received my canopy adventure for the five of us. Andrew was the only one to receive tickets. Well, like a good person, I get up early to ask and :headache: of course, we've been dropped from the system. AND......when I mention to Franseco the problem, he's like, sorry can't help you. I need your confirmation code. I can't do anything in the system. And the only availability is ONE at 1:45. I'm a little more miffed at the attitude of the personal. Its not like there were 100's of people behind me. He just told me that I did not complete the information which UNFORTUNATELY is what happens to a lot of people. I told him that I've done this before but he SNIFFED , yes SNIFFED and said, I'm sorry like he didn't believe me. Ok, so this may have happened. Pooh on me for not realizing sooner but he didn't have to be so uppity about it. Now I'm on the warpath. Seems to be a lot of no's on this cruise. More newbie faces than on any other cruise I've been on. Can't wait till August to see some familiar faces - and nice one too.

Our servers must be a new pairing as they are notoriously slow. Although it seems the table behind must be related to somene because they seem to have the best service - even though its a table of 10. Guess I don't rate.

Sorry for ranting, I'm more upset at myself for not noticing till last night but I must take this as a sign that maybe we weren't meant to go zip lining.

Drats! I'm really upset but what can I do about it?

OK - rant over
Oh wow......... what a bummer!
Did you book that online? I ask because I don't have a confirmation number from booking online before the cruise. So does that mean we can get on the ship and get dropped or something and not be able to do the excursion without a confirmation number?

All I can say is I'm glad the PC is your 14th cruise.....:lmao:
Amen to that!
:lmao:

Remember Cabo is where I was almost drowned and beaten to a bloody pulp. And my glasses are still there somewhere. Not planning ANY excursions for Cabo.;)
:scared1:

How on earth did THIS happen??? I've been reading and reading and doing my best to stay ketchupped on this thread ... but I haven't POSTED until now :scared1: I'll be lucky if the Captain doesn't make me walk the plank ... gotta remember to save some rum as an bribe ;)

Ok, 4 weeks out (give or take) and I'm starting to panic about when and how I'm going to accomplish everything that needs to be accomplished between now and then. I'm starting to make baby steps ... but it seems that for every task I cross off the list, I'm add two more to the bottom

See you all in only 26 more "wake-ups" pirate:

~Kandi
OMG I'm with you on that! It does seem the more I get done- the more I realize needs to be done and gets added to the list. The list is getting longer instead of shorter and it's freaking me out a bit. LOL
