We had a great time with two other families here in Denver today! We met at Tokyo Joe's downtown and had a great visit. The younger two were so cute, they kept passing notes to each other from one end of the table to the other. After pictures though, we caught them talking up a storm. We are all looking forward to our trip and meeting everyone else on the ship.

Today we went shopping! Okay went picture taking of shopping. Below are pictures and information on the grocery and liquor stores in the Disneyland Resort area.

First is Ralphs Grocery Store (there is also a Rite Aid next door)
9155 Brookhurst in Anaheim (corner of Ball and Brookhurst - 3.5 miles from DL)

Nice size parking lot - nice size liquor area..some higher end wines etc in locked case.









Next is Vons

Large enough parking - smaller alcohol area - no higher end alcohol in locked area







Next is Albertsons (approx 4 miles from DL)

Very small parking lot and very small store. Only one door in and out. Small alcohol area.

There was also a Food 4 Less which is owned by the same company as Ralphs. We did not get any pictures. Decent size store and a CVS pharmacy (drug store like Rite Aid/Walgreens) is next to it. It is basically on the corner of Euclid and Katella about 2.8 miles from the resort It is located at:

They do carry wine but we did not stop to see the selection inside as we had passed it when we realized it was there.

Also..on Harbor within 1/2 miles of the resort are the following:

ABC Market - sells wine and beer as well as sundries. Same side of Harbor as DL. At the corner of Harbor and Katella.

Liquor Market (that's the name) is opposite ABC Mart on Harbor at the corner of Harbor and Katella. Basic Liquor store.

7/11 at the corner of Harbor and Katella (across Katella from DL)

On Katella approx. 1/2 mile from the corner of Katella and Harbor (going away from DL Resort) is a Dining Area that has the following nicer restaurants:

Bubba Gump Shrimp CO.
McCormick and Schmicks
Cheesecake Factory
PF Changs

Along Harbor and across from the entrance of DL are restaurants mingled within the hotels. I know there is a Denny's and a McDonalds. There is also something called Capt. Kidd's Buffet ..website: http://www.captainkidds.com/

Reviews that DH found were not good but there you have it!

Hope this helps! If there is anything I can describe for you better..let me know and I will try. I do not know if these were the grocery stores that Roger pointed out (I could not find the map) but these were the ones that came up the closest to the Resort.

for opening up her beautiful home to our group. We had a great lunch and then walked across the street to Johanna's. It was nice to be able to put faces to names. Met CaptinCrash and his wonderful family, Got2travel-Monica

Just got in from the Mirage where we met Stace and her husband Jay for Dinner , and we both agreed that we were the first to have a DIS meet and it seems we will be the last till the cruise ... How cool is that

Dinner was wonderful and of course the company was better. Im tired now , 2 nights down on the strip is rough , even for a local ...LOL

I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get together with Stace and her DH. I hate to tell you Todd, but there is a NY/NJ mini-meet scheduled for 8/3!

Which ABD??????? We did the Spirit of America last year -- LOVED IT!!!!! AS soon as we sell a house we will book another one! We are hoping to do one of the Italy ones!

We were looking yesterday and the one for China really appealed to us. Robert mentioned it again today.

We did the Galapagos last year (not with Disney) and although the islands were amazing, the ship was really, really poor and after spending such a lot of money we were left disappointed. I doubt I would be disappointed with Disney though so I'm looking forward to seeing what they have available in 2009 and might even consider the Galapagos again in the future.

I'm finally starting to think about what to pack for this TOAL! I'm making progress, but am looking for an opinion from the ladies.... How many swimsuits are you bringing?
Sadly, I just counted and I actually have NINE swimsuits! I'm pretty sure I don't need that many...

I'm taking 2 swim suits (for anyone interested, in New Zealand we call them "togs" ) - I figure one to wear and one being dried.

Thus far, I have never actually been in the pool on the ship - so my togs will probably remain dry until Castaway Cay, its not that I don't like the pools but I always have so many other things I'd rather do LOL

Not my kids - they don't finish until Tuesday, but go back on the Thursday rather than the Wednesday in September (Baker day), so at least 1 day to recover the jet lag etc.

Thanks Andrew for the info. I did not give them the benefit of the doubt so will be anxious to hear about it at brunch.

I have to say this is one of those very marginal decisions and I think the actual port times was the decider, being there so early, I feel the tour is more guaranteed.

This will be my third time to Acapulco, and I have walked around twice before,

For my last DCL trip we were there all day and booked Cici water park but only could get a 2pm slot, so we went out and about to the Market, post office and shops by ourselves. We remembered the locations from our Princess cruise where we had an early Cliff divers tour, followed by the Market, and released both were very close to the ship.

At lunch we came back to the ship to Lumière's and then id Cici.

With a lot of complaints I trust DCL to correct these with the operators, we shall see. If we had a longer day to say 4pm I would have done everything myself.

At least three. I hate putting on a wet suit and we plan to spend some time in the Rainforest room and pool so I'll need extras.

We're not doing too well at calling! I think you must have called when I ran DS to the library this morning. We were only gone about half an hour and I didn't think to check for messages! When I finally realized there was a message (about 2:30 my time) I tried calling you and left a message Maybe we'll manage this tomorrow! I'll be home all morning. In the afternoon I am taking DS to the pool, but I will bring my cell phone and a pad of paper

I'll try this afternoon. It might be after dinner time though. We end up doing yard work for a while then went to the pool for about 3 hours. It's freeking hot here!

Today, after church and stick-n-Puck, I'm hoping to finish my pre-cruise shopping & go to the pool.

I hear ya on that. I'm so not looking forward to my MC bill when it comes in. I think we've got just about all we need to finish packing. Just need to find another formal for myself. And DH plans to get a tuxedo for DS, too. Personally I don't think a 3yo needs a tux, but if daddy wants his son to have one who am I to argue???

Aaaaawwwww. But ya gotta admit, 3yo in a tux is too cute!

But then ya gotta put on a damp suit. A lot.

My young lady is at 'that' age, 12>13, where a lot changes, and she becomes a lady. That 'dress' brings it all home to me.

I actually think a Cat 4 will be too small for us now, I am glad I have booked a Cat 3 for 2009. So she can have more space to herself, maybe connecting rooms next time.

My DD is the same age and found a beautiful strapless dress for the trip. It comes up very high and we did buy some straps to put on it. We brought it home to show DH and he said she looked very pretty, then when she left the room she just shook her head. No boys around here (yet), but he isn't too thrilled with all the growing up. He isn't ready. Poor dad's!
