Tom, you had better be careful there!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The tie-dye came out AWEsome!

This looks AWSOME!
We are getting very excited! The shirts look great!

Thanks, I'm pleased with how they turned out. I was inspired by a design I saw at the World of Disney story in DTD - of all things. I think it was blue and black, and sported Grumpy.

Great Pirate face

Actually, he does a better one. Wait for Pirate night and ask him to say "Argh!". He's quite scary.

And, what a pirate attitude! :)

Substitute "Sushi" for "Pizza" and you'd have it right on. Yeah. California kids, they're weird. :confused3

OkAY -
Monica & I will be there tomorrow to pack!! I have one request - I need to meet your dogs!! Mine are miserable - it was soooo hot here today & will be tomorrow too!!

Oh, good. You like dogs.

I took him up the hill to Murphys to get the shirts today, mistakenly thinking it'd be cooler up there and he could run on my parents place, while I checked on it. NOT! It was as hot in the foothills as it was in the valley!! Yuck!

.

aww.... i  roses.... what a sweetie....

DH will have to draw me some with crayons this year...

I'm hoping Happiness finds me on the cruise too... And i'm hoping when he finds me he has a couple of good strong drinks too.

I guess i never realized how bad it really is... No one is hiring and many places have just had to lay people off...

Gee that hut on the beach in Costa Rica is looking better and better each day.

As for Columbia, hmmm where can i go that's dangerous so i don't have to return to the US? Hmmm guerilla prisoner... sounds like a great diet. :rolleyes1

Kristina........things will get better.  You have a wonderful husband and DD too!!:flower3:

We just need to find you an employer who appreciates your talents!!:cloud9:

Wow Cheryl those are really nice! Are you cooking tonight?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You made me choke!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Cook.......that is why we have restaurants!!!;)

Just kidding dear!!!(just in case he reads this)

yeah.... me tooo...

chippendales-dance.gif

Awwww.......

This photo is so CUTE - especially with all the sentimental surprise of the romantic roses an' all - I dare not show ALICIA lest I get berated fer not doin' as John has lavished on ya, Cheryl!

One thing though... which one of these guys was John?

I don't recall you mentioning John was a DANCER on the side - so ...

.. are you SURE those 40 roses were from John an' not one of these other... Ahem,... gentlemen?

A lady never tells!!!

BTW - in part - I have not been around much because my internet provider has a service issue out here - and I'm getting 10 days refund on the expense from Time Warner - and they're scheduled to send a repair truck thursday to install a signal booster to fix the connection problems I'm sufferring from here. I finally semi-fixed my connection by disconnecting the TVs from the cable line so Ihad enough signal to connect my cable modem - what a PAIN in the **** I tell ya'! It's been soooo vexing and annoying with the constant connection interruptions - and the technical support run around I've had these past 10 days since I returned from that camping thing on the river in South Sequoia 2 weekends back....

We were talking about where you have been!!! Your post count was very low.;)

Just home from dinner with 4fosterkids and her DD...had a really nice time!

Going to exit the boards early tongiht..lots to do here at home..

Nite everyone!

Glad you had a great time!!!:yay:

Which clock is this? I've been looking for a travel alarm that you don't have to press a button to light up the face. :)

Laura, I got the one called Smart Lite Travel Alarm clock...#AC354. I also liked that it closes into its own case, so the buttons won't get pushed, either in my bag, or by my stateroom host, who kept accidentally waking me at 6 am!

Stace, I checked out that website that you posted for the banner and I'm thinking of getting one, but stupid question, what size ?

I think I remember seeing someone's (was it Andy's ?) that was 3'x5'. Is that a good size for a cat 6 verandah ?

They also had a 3'x8', is that too long ?

Ours is the 3'x5'....I think that should be fine.

Hi All

I have been enjoying a few (only 100 pages) of your multiple incarnations of this meet and greet thread. Last night I had posted about some of the fun activities, and was told that I needed to bulk up my posting count...so bear with me.

Our little family will be enjoying our first Disney Cruise...and as luck would have it, we were able to snatch a cancellation in Dec. 2007. So excited to get a chance to share in the fun.

Thanks for all of the help, :worship:
Carol

Banner length for a cat 6 verandah ? Would 3'x8' be too long ? Is 3'x5' better ?

I'm thinking 3'x5' as I don't remember the verandahs being very long:confused3

I finally got back on and answered you from the last thread. Sorry about that!

As for Columbia, hmmm where can i go that's dangerous so i don't have to return to the US? Hmmm guerilla prisoner... sounds like a great diet. :rolleyes1

Don't even joke about that. I've been held at gunpoint by guerillas before and it really wasn't very fun.
:scared: Yes, I'm dead serious.

NOW...who wants to go with me in Cartegena??

Posting from the bar behind my house.

Thoughts and prayers for those who need them.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary to those celebrating.

Excuse any typos as I am 3 drinks in. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Monica I will also need to join you at Rockn' D. Sorry I can't make it up to Sac during the week to help with the t-*******.

When are we going to do a N. CA meet? I am free this weekend and Saturday of next weekend. I am hoping to meet some of you before DL/or the cruise!

I am game to host in my place in SF.

I'll see when Chris is free then we can make some plans! I gotta come pick up your provisions anyway.

Beautiful! The flowers AND you. :)

Hey everyone- are you getting excited yet? DH never gets excited BEFORE anything.... so he's not reciprocating my excitedness. I"m a mixture of getting excited AND getting a bit panicky. So much to do before we leave on the 11th!

I feel the same way!! I keep marking things off my to do list, but keep adding many more! lol

Just home from dinner with 4fosterkids and her DD...had a really nice time!

Going to exit the boards early tongiht..lots to do here at home..

Nite everyone!

It was wonderful to meet you guys tonight too. Glad the girls hit it off so easily!
Thanks for the lanyards...they are fantastic!

Cheryl - beautiful roses...how special! Congratulations

Chris - welcome home, glad you had fun, can't wait to hear all about it!

Welcome Aboard....and please forgive our antics at the end of the last thread. Just having a little fun with the mods. There's a 250 page thread limit, but there didn't seem to be any moderators around so we fluffed to see how far we could go. (Fluff = post a bunch of nonsense to run up the post count).

Study the first post. That's where all the important stuff is. And just post what you can, when you can. Just jump on in there.

Warning...this is a vent. We are going to an out of town swim meet this weekend that begins Friday late afternoon, so we have to leave Friday morning. DH's boss, who has no kids has rescheduled a meeting 3 times and decided that Friday for lunch is the day. There is no way we can wait for him and make the meet in time. He told his boss that he can't be there and she basically said well either you come to the extended lunch meeting or you might not have a job. Then the only other weekend this summer that my DD has a dance performance that she has been working on since January, my DH's boss has decided to have an executive retreat! UGH!! Yes, I am happy he has a job and makes enough that I don't have to work but this lady drives me crazy! It just isn't right. Someone else asked about the next weekend and she said no, she can't make it. I love how it is all about her and what works best for her. I won't even mention all the kids' events he has missed because of work related stuff. :sad2:
The reason I quit my job was because he isn't around that much and someone needs to be here. Not his fault at all, but man is this frustrating. Does anyone out there need a really hard working CFO? This was even after he and I went out for margaritas tonight.:scared1:
Grand Cayman is looking better and better to move to. Life just shouldn't be this complicated.

:flower3: ..i can smell your roses.....way over here!

..talk about a job well done, psst, :scared:, ...i'm one happy camper..

... that my lil'sweetie..isn't reading/seeing..or my expectations..might

be risen.

pretty roses....but not as sweet as the person holding them.

ha!!!..room assignments- what thats?! :confused3 ....i think we're in a
holding pattern....possible for more booty....or fluff?

..ever wonder...which one came first? pirate:

....oh, .....i wasn't even...thinking...of being born. [ well, if everyone else
is lying..

It's two part process...

Part one - dye the entire shirt the lighter color. Since I wanted that chrystilline effect, I shoved the shirts in to a small bucket (4 quart paint bucket from Ace - for 6 shirts), very tightly, and poured the dye over. Wait about 4 hours, and wash it out.

Part two - Over dye to make the V. Fold the shirt in half long wise. Pinch at the point of the V (about 2/3 down), and finger walk up to the widest part of the V (on the shoulder), making pleats about 1" high. At that point, wrap a rubber band around tightly. Cover the portion you don't want to dye with plastic wrap to prevent accidents. Use a squeeze bottle to over dye the shirt with the darker color. (This is the technique most people think as "tie-dye".) Wrap in plastic wrap and let sit for 8-10 hours. Wash out all the excess dye. If a solid color is important to you (like these shirts) use LOTS of dye. Remember - you have to soak 4 layers of cloth.

Not hard. Remember that half the fun is the unpredictable results. Not even these turned out exactly like I envisioned, but I'm still pleased with the result. So, don't go in expecting "perfection" - regardless of what happens, it's art - it'll be beautiful. :)

Variations....
Rather than using a squeeze bottle, it'd be interesting to just stick that portion in a bucket of dye, and clamp it to the edge of the bucket, so that entire shirt doesn't accidentally fall in. Might use more or less dye - depending on the type of bucket used. But, faster than squeeze bottles. (We like squeeze bottles, as then the boys can help. They each dyed their own shirts.)

Reverse the design. That is the chrystaline effect is in the V, and the dark dye is in the body. This would be interesting - might try it next.

Do this, and then discharge dye in an interesting counter pattern. You can use bleach (not full strength), or discharge paste. You can get some really interesting effects with this. Or, cut out sponges (Mickey Heads?), thicken the bleach solution to a paint consistancy, and discharge using the sponge. I thought about doing that, but decided against it. A little too Disney for me - if you get my drift. But, might turn out really fun. (Actually - this'd be fun to try. Wonder if I can find someone to commission a set sometime. You think something like that would sell?)

Or rather than a counter pattern - shove it all tightly in a small jar, and pour the bleach in - you'd get a discharged crystaline effect then. Now, that might be really cool.

Be sure to have some Bleach-Stop on hand to throw the shirt into. Discharging can go pretty quickly. I'd recommend no stronger than a 1:3 (25% solution) bleach to water ratio for something like this. Maybe even a 10-15% solution would be better.

OH! One hint? If you're doing shirts for kids.... Kids grow. We always make a set with every size, then put away the too big shirts. That way - the family still has an entire set for several years. Because of the professional dyes and chemicals I use - fading is practically non-existant. You can't tell the two year old shirt, from the new one coming off the shelf.

Hope that gives you some ideas. Like anything - the hardest part is gathering your courage and jumping into something new. :goodvibes Dharma has some nice kits with everything you need except the clothing, and really excellent directions, if you're just starting out. That's how I did it. :thumbsup2
