They will do surgery to remove his tumors next week and then a few days later they will put in his port.
I am heartbroken for them.

Steph - your post really hit close to home
A friend had her son diagnosed with liver cancer (very rare) when he was 9 months old but unfortunately he lost the fight when he was 2 1/2. I hope that their fight ends on a positive note

Boy, is it just me or are the formal dresses sized small. The black dress I bought (same size as the rest of the clothes I'm currently wearing) is 2 sizes smaller than the formal dresses:confused:

Totally agree. The gown I bought was my current size at the time, which has since gone down by 1 or 2 sizes depending on fabric. My gown, however, still doesn't zip up the back completely. Time to go to a seamstress.

One of my co-workers daughters got a job there last year, you wouldn't believe the "requirements of the job"! If a customer wants them to sit with the them at the table all night, they must. Uniforms are not to be worn outside the resturaunt. They have to perform little "dances". I asked her if they had a pole set up for them too!! They must also be walked to there car by a male member of the staff.

Who would want to wear those orange shorts outside the restaurant????

I've never been to Hooters. There are just some business that I refuse to give my money to.

Yes, finally. I just finished my daughters gold gown from the first movie (my favorite). It's huge. It took 2 months. I'm just waiting for her shoes. They're coming from Canada, from a company that specializes in reproductions from the 16-1800's. They should be here next week. I'll try and post pictures. He's making them out of the same material the dress is made out of (silk brocade).

Actually, I'm going to start packing the costumes today.

Jack tried on his Norrington costume on yesterday. His shoes came in yesterday (from the same company).

He looks smashing!

I weighed my costume the other day it weighs almost 30 lbs. I guess we'll be paying for extra weight and suitcases.

They sound awesome - can't wait to see them
This is the one thing I regret not learning how to do, sewing. My cousin is a great seamstress and the things she makes are so beautiful. You may even know her, Pete, she lives in Howard Beach too.

I will enjoy my cruise so much more knowing your EXACT underwear situation, Stace!!!!!!!!!! Any photos? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry....after I posted I realized that was TMI.
Maybe I'll make a flag out of them. pirate:

Everyone stay safe and have fun!

Just to show how clueless some people are. One of the skating moms was saying her husband always went to Hooters for lunch but when she asked if they could go for dinner he always changed the subject. Poor thing didn't know a hoot about Hooters and had to be educated as to why he spent so much time there.Would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall that night.

Good morning! Happy 4th of July!

Wow - busy night on here last night. I was caught up until about 8pm, but then DH and I watched a movie (VERY rare occurance around here). I think it was originally made for British TV (Terry Pratchett's "Hogfather") and it was in 2 parts and much longer than I expected. It ended around midnight and I collapsed without checking the thread again. I really enjoyed it, but I don't know if it would all make sense to non-Pratchett readers.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday! DH & I are just working around the house. DS9 is still at the cabin with my parents (Looks like they are bringing him home on Saturday evening) so I might be able to get the house clean without it just getting trashed again in 10 minutes! Only negative is that my allergies are terrible this morning and I'm having trouble getting myself moving.

We could open a store! I go size 2-8.

A few months back I had sizes 6 to 14 in my closet. I decided to bite the bullet and did a thorough closet cleaning. I threw out EVERYTHING that didn't fit (except a couple sentimental items) right then! I tried on every item (it took a couple days!) and if I wasn't happy with the fit, color, condition, etc - it was put into the goodwill pile. It was really hard to do and my closet was very empty looking, but it has been nice knowing what I really have and what I need to get. I just kept telling myself that if I ever get back down to an 8 or 10, I will reward myself with a whole new wardrobe :thumbsup2

So far my kids Dumb Move Award goes to DS8 who rode a boogie board down the steps when he was 2. Put a lovely hole in his head when he ran into the stereo speaker at full speed.

DS9's dumbest move was probably running into a tree! He was 4 or 5 and was at his pre-school. He was playing tag, running full-tilt and watching the kid running behind him. One of the teachers shouted "Look Out" and he turned his head just as he ran straight into the tree. He had a huge gash on his forehead and there is still a small scar (although it does seem to be fading as he grows). He tends to be accident prone (not through being awkward or gawky - he is actually pretty coordinated - he just doesn't pay any attention to what he is doing sometimes) so there are LOTS of smaller "dumb" moments! He knows the school nurse so well, we gave her an end of year gift like we give to the teachers! We have noticed that when he first encounters a new school, camp, or whatever that we get called for the first few times he hits his head, cuts himself, and so on. After a while, they figure out this is just "normal" and we only get called for the big ones!

Ratz - outbid right at the end.

Andy

Haven't you been practicing your sniping skills? DH is an expert and seems to have it timed down to the second. (I imaging it is sort of like Tom and Roger's pirating ability!) :rotfl:

Cool. I had dinner with 'The Man' many moons ago in SF before he was really famous. We have all his books, some signed. I'll have to see if it's avaible on DVD.

Andy

The same answer I gave my mom when I poured water on a light bulb that had been on for a while and the fixture was still plugged in:rolleyes1.

When I was about 4 I am told that I plugged my DB's brand new speaker wires into a wall socket :scared: DM had to lock me in a room to save my life.

Oh how COOL!!!! I have been a Pratchett fan for years and years. I used to give friends and family lists when they traveled "across the pond" so they could pick up the books for me. It is so nice that they are finally publishing them here around the same time as the UK version. Meeting him would be so neat! He doesn't seem to make it to the Chicago area much. He was here only once that I know of and it was last minute addition to a signing tour and I had to sing in a choir concert that night! I was so bummed that I missed my one chance to see him. :sad2: I have all the Discworld books and a few of the others. He is the only author that I CANNOT wait for the paperback version and buy everything in hardback.

Hogfather is on DVD, but it seems to have had a pretty limited release here. I happened to find it at Borders. When I first found it, I waited to get it so I could price it at Amazon - at that time, it wasn't available on Amazon and then when I went back to Borders I couldn't find it! A nice Borders employee helped me find the last copy in the store. I think it is on Amazon now.

Well, I really need to get my fingers going and finish Kevin's vest!! I'll check in later. See ya in chat tonight.

HA! Me too then!

Does not that movie have all of lifes lessons in one movie? "Our ability to accessorize is what sets us apart from the rest of the animal world". My personal favorite: "That which does not kill us makes us stronger". ;)

"Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion"

I love the Groom's cake and the way she slices the rear for the Father...everytime I see Red Velvet cake I think of that movie!

"Aww, thanks Ouiser. Nothin' like a good piece of add."

"It has grey icing-I couldn't begin to imagine how to make grey icing"

I love steel magnolias!

Chrissie

"I can't do snakes....don't have the counter space"

We need a Steel Magnolias viewing party!!

We can do an interactive showing.....sorta like a Rocky Horror Picture Show :thumbsup2

And now for an all Steel Magnolias multi-quote:

:thumbsup2

Well, these thighs haven't gone out of the house without lycra on them sice I was 14.

You were brought up right.

If you don't have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!

Oh! He's a real gentleman! I bet he takes the dishes out of the sink before he PEES in it!

The only reason people are nice to me is because I have more money than God.

My colors are "blush" and "bashful."

Nothing can chase away the Swabbies like a Steel Magnolias multi-quote :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey, this could come in handy at the next pirate run ;)

Please say a prayers for my husbands friend. He woke up yesterday and found his wife dead on the bathroom floor.

That is terrible.....My prayers and condolences
