My oldest called just a little bit ago...... He just talked to a friend of his (they are 28 now and have known each other since they were about 9 or 10). His friend called him to let him know that his 9 month old baby boy (we have known his wife since they were either in Jr Hi or just starting HS...) was diagnosed with Cancer today. :sad1:

They will do surgery to remove his tumors next week and then a few days later they will put in his port.
I am heartbroken for them.

I am so sorry for you oldest. We will keep the family in our prayers. Cancer in kids is just not right. It's not right for anyone, but it seems worse when it is kids.

Happy Independence Day!!!

We are heading into Boston to see the fireworks display. We have never taken the kids, because Mike doesn't do well in crowds. We're going to head in by train & attempt it this year, but try to stay away from the most conjested areas. Rascal Flatts is playing on the Esplanade, but we won't even get near there with the masses.

On a side note, I can't hear anything but ringing in my left ear. Don't know if it's a virus or I've punctured my ear drum or what. Guess I'll give it a couple of days & if it doesn't get better, I'll head to the dreaded doctors. Huh? :listen:

I've heard of that as well, but fortunately have never actually had to deal with that particular crisis.

We also had a new restaurant open locally (to our surprise). Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, or a sign that our city is finally growing up. But San Jose now has a Hooters.... :cheer2:

Our Hooters is moving to expand. :sad2:

I am making one for DH.:goodvibes

That is exactly what happened to Rich on our very first night. Those cloth napkins must have some sort of stain repellent on them as he couldn't get anything off his hands. Next time we brought wipes with us and they worked fine.

BTW, I know we discussed wipes for the bathroom. If you have a Walgreens, they have their flushable wipes on sale this week. $1.99 for refill of 84. We always stock up.

That is exactly right. Those napkins do absolutely no good.

Wouldn't you know I stocked up on the wipes last night at Target.
When we were at WDW my DH said "I knew I loved the WL, They have wipes in here". "No honey, that would be what your smart wife packed." :)

I have said many times that it was easier to see your childs life in the balance when they were 1st born than when you "have gotten to know them". I cannot imagine going through that now. I will definitely keep them in my prayers.

Please say a prayers for my husbands friend. He woke up yesterday and found his wife dead on the bathroom floor.

That is so sad. I have to say this is my nightmare. Having seen my DH die twice, I am not ready to see it permanently.

Who would want to wear those orange shorts outside the restaurant????

I've never been to Hooters. There are just some business that I refuse to give my money to.

A co-worker of mine keeps saying that someday he'll open a restaurant called "Bananas" where all the servers are men and the uniform is basically a speedo, no shirt. As a guy, of course he likes Hooters, but he feels that if a business is going to objectify women like that, then we women should have a place to go where men are also objectified. It makes me laugh to know that he though of it. :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

My mantra to the girls is that I want people to admire them for their brains and not their bodies.

HA! Me too then!
Does not that movie have all of lifes lessons in one movie? "Our ability to accessorize is what sets us apart from the rest of the animal world". My personal favorite: "That which does not kill us makes us stronger". ;)

Oh and another favourite line!
"It looks like it's been hosed down with Pepto Bismoth!"
Chrissie

And now for an all Steel Magnolias multi-quote:
Well, these thighs haven't gone out of the house without lycra on them sice I was 14.
You were brought up right.

If you don't have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!
Oh! He's a real gentleman! I bet he takes the dishes out of the sink before he PEES in it!

The only reason people are nice to me is because I have more money than God.
My colors are "blush" and "bashful."

Oh darn.....I'm late to the party! This is one of my all time favorite movies. And every time I watch it I break out in the "ugly cry".

Oh, and....."Pink is my signature color." Not really, but everytime I wear pink I hear this line in my head. :)

Good morning! Happy 4th of July!

A few months back I had sizes 6 to 14 in my closet. I decided to bite the bullet and did a thorough closet cleaning. I threw out EVERYTHING that didn't fit (except a couple sentimental items) right then! I tried on every item (it took a couple days!) and if I wasn't happy with the fit, color, condition, etc - it was put into the goodwill pile. It was really hard to do and my closet was very empty looking, but it has been nice knowing what I really have and what I need to get. I just kept telling myself that if I ever get back down to an 8 or 10, I will reward myself with a whole new wardrobe :thumbsup2

Good for you. Their is too much pressure to look a certain. As the mother of a teenage daughter I constantly reminding myself of the impact I have when I comment about my weigh. Sure I'd love to lose a few pound... okay maybe more than a few but I'd rather teach my daughter to be happy with herself no matter what.

Our Hooters is moving to expand. :sad2:

Our Boston one just closed recently. I went a couple of times with DH & even brought the kids. The waitresses in ours weren't "all that" & there was actually quite a few men working there. It just had a sports bar atmosphere & we really did like the wings. Of course we never went late at night, so I imagine it can get pretty rowdy with college crowd.

That is exactly right. Those napkins do absolutely no good.

When we were at WDW my DH said "I knew I loved the WL, They have wipes in here". "No honey, that would be what your smart wife packed." :)

That cracked me up! Sounds like something my DH would say.

That is so sad. I have to say this is my nightmare. Having seen my DH die twice, I am not ready to see it permanently.

My sister died & was brought back a couple of years ago. She woke up with what she thought was heartburn so she took a couple of Tums & headed to work. As she was driving, she started feeling really sick with clammy hands, etc. so she pulled into a Walgreens parking lot & called an ambulance. Good thing because they just put her in the ambulance & she went into cardiac arrest. I thought it was very rare to have that happpen, but after seeing how many people have mentioned it here....I guess not! Scary stuff!

My mantra to the girls is that I want people to admire them for their brains and not their bodies.

I'll drink to that! :thumbsup2

Do we need to give it our All?? :rotfl2:

Cheer up....

This is so sad...
I have a good friend who had a baby with cancer in her brain.

I knew someone from PA who found out a few years ago that their 3 yo had a brain tumor also. She was treated at Hershey medical center and i think doing ok now.

Ginger worked.

The ginger pills upset my stomach. However, a few ginger snaps work pretty good.

My doctor once told me to either use the patch or just start drinking the minute you get on-board. Either way you won't mind the swaying of the boat.

There are just some business that I refuse to give my money to.

I've never been to a Chippendale's review... Now there's a business i'd like to open...

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day. Give your kids a hug, call a family member you haven't spoken to in awhile, and do something fun!

I'll go!

LOL! Sounds a lot like DD and DS. They spend hours at DTD in the bins and whenever we go to the store. DS has the full HP set that I collected for a few years at Target 75% clearance sales before he got them for Christmas two years ago. He has a huge bin in his closet and plays in there all the time. BTW, his closet has a window that looks out on the river so it's not as bad as it sounds. :lmao:

I also bought most of the Harry Potter Lego sets from Target at 75% off. Unfortunately, I think I may have missed a set or two and they have since been discontinued. I've been giving them to DS over the last couple of years for birthdays, Christmas, etc. Fortunately, he got addicted to the HP books after I bought the Legos but before I started giving them to him!

They recently opened a Lego store in our local mall (the first one in Texas!). They had a Grand Opening two weeks ago. They had a Lego Master Model Builder here and they constructed an 8-ft tall Yoda in the mall over the course of the weekend. They invited the kids to come help out by building bricks which were then used to build the big Yoda. Everyone who participated got a certificate. I'll try to remember to post some pictures later. It was a lot of fun, and there were lots of people there. There was a pretty long line just to get in the store!

Lisa,

I see from your signature that you were on the 11/15/03 sailing. That was our first time on the Magic (and DCL) too!

Just make sure that he has Tom31b's phone number when he's ready to staff it.

I just 'won' my tiara!

I've never been either. Men who think they are "all that" are a total turn off.

A huge thanks (and cake!) to our troops for making sure we enjoy our freedom!!
