Happy Birthday Chase!!!

shipwreck-birthday-large.jpg

That is a cool cake! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes for my baby (He just turned 6)!

Hi all! It's been ages since I posted and I can't believe this trip is less than 2 months away. I am so psyched, I feel like I think of nothing else. Our desk top was down for over 3 months and every time I signed on DH laptop, it would bounce me back to his screen name.

Have been working a p/t job for a lawyer since March, and will be closing my scrapbook store before we leave for our trip. It has been a rough ride, and with the economy so bad, hobbies get put to the back shelf. I understand that, we are all having a hard enough time just putting food on our table and gas in our car! I did 2 shows this year which I also did last year, and I didn't do half as well at them, so it was time to make a decision and pack it in. I am ok with the decision, and trying to get it all done before our trip so I can go away with a clear head and enjoy.

Of course, dopey me didn't get on for ressies till late the night they were available and we didn't get anything for Palo brunch, no CC Cabana massage, and a few other things were closed out. We managed to get a few of our choices, so it was okay. We only got the first night Paol dinner. Hopefully there will be some things available when we board, but I also keep checking the website for availability.

I hope you all are well and anticipating as much as I am. Will be back later.

Debi

We have been on 3 cruises. On each of them we have turned in a t-shirt to be signed for DS. The number of signatures has varied widely and I have used the exact same note each time! One cruise, it was just the fab 5 (least # of sigs) and on our last cruise (Jan 2007) the whole shirt was covered (similar to the pillow shams posted). I think it just depends on how busy they are ....

Pamela
that makes sense. We just got unlucky last time- maybe we'll be luckier next time. :) Although..... with this cruise having more repeating cruisers and most knowing about the signing thing- they are probably gonna have a lot of signing to do so we might better not have our hopes up for more signatures this time. LOL

Just to confirm been to the hospital and its NOT DVT, but a ligament strain around the Calf muscle. So thats good news no injections to worry about,
Awesome! wishing you quick healing!!!!

They will sign whatever you drop off. There isn't a posted limit but I wouldn't overdo it. I usually use the rule one item per guest. We have only done 2 previously.
I think that's a good idea. I think we'll do one pillowcase per child and then ONE frame (if I can figure out where to get a frame like that- that they can sign around it. did someone make that or what? I need help with that!) for us/our cabin. :) that shouldn't be too much, right?

Okay Bip, hopefully Rita will understand that I don't know how to do pictures and I am at work, so I don't have the help of my teens...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RITA!!!!!

hi everyone! hope you all had a great weekend! it's great to see all the pics of the meets! i hope to remember some of the faces/names when we all meet onboard!
we had dd's 6th dance recital yesterday...so it was a busy weekend here! it's hard to believe that she's been dancing for 6 yrs!! she is only 8yrs old!! here is a pic of when she started. she did a little mermaid song...under the sea:
copylauryn4.jpg

and this was her costume from her solo yesterday....also a little mermaid song...part of your world:
copylauryn.jpg

yesterday she danced in 10 diff dances...2 of them were solos! and she did great for all of them!!

we also got our fish extenders in the mail on friday! they look so great! we had gradysmommy do ours too. makes me even more excited for the trip!!!
hope everyone has a great nite!

Beautiful! What a move! :cool1:

Got lots accomplished this weekend!!!!

1. Finished all the dining links and sent my share off to Kristina!!
2. John almost got camera bag packed for trip. I had to make protective
covers for the cameras, DVD player, and mini camcorder from fleece.
3. Started puting FE gits together.
4. Had a mini meet with our Winotracy and her sweet DH..Bill.:woohoo:
5. Had the Cancer Celebration Party for over two hundred people.:yay:
Everything went off without a hitch.:worship: :worship: We also had 150 gifts donated like weekends stays and restaurants that everyone could
win in a raffle.:woohoo: :woohoo: The down side was the 8 leftover
pecan cheesecakes that serve 16 people. I now have one staring at me
everytime I open the freezer door.:headache: :headache:

Congrats Cheryl! You are awesome!!! :thumbsup2

I had almost forgot the marathon dance recital from last night. This years show was 4-1/2 hour long :scared1: DD7 had her 4th recital and was in 2 numbers last night, one jazz and one ballet. After about 30 dances they all start looking alike. Here is Austyn in her jazz outfit.

P6210065.jpg

Another beauty!

Now DD wants to know why her dance pictures aren't on here so ... the ballet was to the Adam's Family theme song and tap was to the Muppet Show.

Picture2.jpg

And yet another! Love the costume! :cutie:

Just to confirm been to the hospital and its NOT DVT, but a ligament strain around the Calf muscle. So thats good news no injections to worry about,

Sorry you have a ligament strain, but glad it is not as serious as DVT! Get better soon!

Ok...I did decide I had to make my FE myself......for good or for bad....I wanted something original I could use as something special. I'm posting a couple pics here so if anyone else is interested in how to make one let me know. I would never go so far as to say it's as nice as all the others, but in the end I made it special for this TOAL and if you are feelin' that same urge it took me less than a day to sew together after having the fabric and images and spending little time designing it. The sewing was not a big deal.
FE.jpg

Nice job! Better than anything I could do! ::yes::

Me again, and totally off-topic. But....I actually cooked dinner last night....and I just want to tell you all how spoiled we are going to be.
But anyway....potatoes boiled over, and left spots on the stove.
As I was getting ready to clean it....this is what I saw....no touch-ups...no kidding:

IMGP0981.jpg

Whoa it must be a sign!!! It's sign of good Mickey things to come! :yay:

anyway...... I managed to find back to the last time I was on here and no one posted on the 16th for Rita's birthday? uhoh... maybe I didn't have her on some list or something but maybe you guys could wish her some princess birthday wishes or something- NOW and I'll show her- and hope she doesn't know to look at dates of the posts and think it was back on the 16th?
(same day as Debi's anniversary- congratulations by the way!)

It was Debi wasn't? OMG short term memory.. I hope I remembered that right because who knows if i can find that thread again to look to make sure! LOL Was I supposed to have Rita on a birthday list or something or is my little princess just unloved around these parts? LOL

Bip there is a calendar on the website for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. or you could just pop on here & let us know! ;)

We have 4 kids and book 2 cabins so last cruise we had 4 mats signed (one for each child and 2 per cabin). We also included some large bags of candy (m&m's, I think) to show our appreciation.

Kim
What a great idea. Note to self: add some candy to show appreciation! :)

Happy Birthday Rita (BIP's DD)

Oh wow I love it! That is really neat.... love it love it love it!

Thanks for letting me know I wasn't being overly sensitive to what happened. Next year there are two level 1 classes for tap/ballet/jazz....Tuesday and Friday after school. I have already told the instructor that I want DD to be in the more reliable class.

The prirate FE is really good. I was going to use our same Christmas stocking that we have used for 3 cruises now but Laura surprised me with a package last week. :)

102_6446.jpg
Wow I like yours too- really big pockets too! love it!

I am deathly, deathly afraid of heights, but I did it. And I LOVED it. I guess knowing that if something happened, I would only fall into the water made me feel somewhat better...but once I was up there and took a few deep breaths and enjoyed the scenery, I didn't want to come back down.
I'm opposite. I'm not afraid of heights but everytime I parasail my fear is FALLING IN THE WATER because um, both times I've seen really big fish and some that look like they might be sharks. Our first time in Cancun I about had a heartattack because the boat died- they got it going again quickly but I had visions of falling in the water. To make matters worse- when they brought us in- the same dock someone else came back from a fishing expedition and they had a huge shark taller than me! That was in the same water we might have dropped into! ack!!!!!!!
So when I parasail I'm just afraid of falling in the water and just FYI- at Castaway Cay they "dipped" us in the water- Jeff was laughing and I was all trying to fold my legs up as much as possible to keep my feet and legs from becoming shark food from the sky. LOL It was so not fun for me........ Jeff had a good laugh out of me freaking out though. LOL

Happy Birthday Rita!!

MinnieEars.jpg
Thanks! ooh that looks almost like a wedding cake. Maybe if we ever have a renewal I'll get a cake like that! He'd LOVE that (hahahaha *snicker*)

i'm not much at measuring and/or sewing; but i do it "close enough" to make it work. First here is the site I used as a STARTING POINT http://www.sewing.org/enthusiast/html/et_starslockerpocket.html

I cut it a bit bigger because Im not one for doing it precisely! In the end my dow rod is about a 1/2 inch, the "ball" is about 1 inch wide with a "hold" big enough to hold my dow. I actually had "extra" so filled it with wood glue. The disks I used for the "ears" are about 1 inch in dia. but < 1/4 in width. I used a mini craft dremel to carve a couple slots to glue in the ears.

The finished width is 8" and length about 26" which is more than the pattern, but I don't "fold over seam allowances" so mine is bigger :) each pocket ended up at 6 1/2 " in height. I did nothing but straight seams and made it as easy on myself as possible! Bought all my materials at Joanne Fabrics; except for the pirate fabric....but all the wood stuff (dow, balls, disks, coin trim) were at Joannes.
Wow..... you are crafty!

Me again, and totally off-topic. But....I actually cooked dinner last night....and I just want to tell you all how spoiled we are going to be.
But anyway....potatoes boiled over, and left spots on the stove.

Hi there! nice to see you again and yes, anticipating as much as you are! And maybe a little bit of freaking out. hehe

Do I get a discount for that? Or os that whats called a Champaign waterfall?
:lmao:

Somehow I can't see the appeal of crowding around you to sip from your leaking champagne stomach :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: even if we set up a pyramid of glasses around you to cascade down . . .:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Until you heal up, just send those bottles directly my way and bypass the middleman!

Bip there is a calendar on the website for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. or you could just pop on here & let us know! ;)

I know- I thought I had my kids added on there! I mean especially Rita since her birthday was before the cruise!

I don't have kids myself, but I have been involved in the dance community for a number of years. I am always surprised at how little the young girls wear when they dance. I know they are going for a "look" and feel for each dance, but I don't think it was ever intended for young kids to look like pimps and hoes to attain that "feel."

Good news! Hope it heels quickly. :)

It wasn't even the lack of coverage that was the problem. There were other costumes with less that looked a whole lot classier. Hers looked cheap and tacky.

I have to ask a question of the other dance parents who have been at this for years. There was a girl in DD's class who stopped coming 2 months ago. She was not there to learn the entire routine to either dance. Her mom wouldn't let her come because she wasn't doing well in school. She showed up for the pictures. She didn't come to the last class. She didn't come to the dress rehersal BUT she showed up at the recital. Would your schools have allowed her to even get on the stage? She threw DD for a loop because they moved her from No. 1 position in the tap number (different count for the opening move) to the No. 2 position which moved her from an A to a B for the next move. She was a trooper but I don't think that it is fair for the other kids in the class when that happens. Just wondering if I am being a "studio mom" being upset when I saw this happen and the look on DD's face through the dance.

With the way they stressed attendance, I'm sure DD's dance studio would not have allowed that.

Ok...I did decide I had to make my FE myself......for good or for bad....I wanted something original I could use as something special. I'm posting a couple pics here so if anyone else is interested in how to make one let me know. I think that looks great Shella! The coins on the pockets are a perfect touch.

I believe you. If I wanted to fake that, it wouldn't look so good!

Super, I can't wait!!!

I just got my girls cheer competition schedule and we will be in Palatine on Oct. 18th and 19th, Reunion Meet? I booked a room in Schaumburg for that evening. Thinking that maybe I was planning ahead. I made so many reservations, I can't remember exactly which one, but is there a Homewood Suites in Schaumburg? If so, that is where I am at that night. Mark in on your calendars now!

:rotfl: We'll (probably) be in the area the last week of June 2009.... Cheryl, that's when/where my family reunion is next year!

Anyhow ... my suggestion to you is NOT to answer your stateroom phone that first day. :) Also... don't worry about what people will think ... too much else is really needing to be stressed about. ;)

You are so right -- you can never please everyone no matter how hard you try! That's why when I talked to Cheryl I told her to just put me with anyone! LOL!

Got lots accomplished this weekend!!!!

Now you can rest for another year! I'm just glad there isn't a pecan cheesecake here! :scared1:

I had almost forgot the marathon dance recital from last night. This years show was 4-1/2 hour long :scared1: DD7 had her 4th recital and was in 2 numbers last night, one jazz and one ballet. After about 30 dances they all start looking alike. Here is Austyn in her jazz outfit.

She's a cutie! ANd I so agree with you about how they all start looking alike! You are a much better dad then I am a mom because I wouldn't have stayed anywhere for 4 1/2 hrs! LOL!
And I've sat through 20 yrs of dance recitals. :) All 3 of my girls have taken years of dance. 17dd took ballet for 10yrs and was rather good but, had to stop almost 2 yrs ago because of her scoliosis. It was starting to become too painful and interferring with the quaility of her life.
Our studio spreads the recitals out over several nights. ANd some years I've had to be there everynight but, it was never more then an hour & a half at a time!

I LOVE the little girls in their dance costumes!! Too, too cute!
Jordan and I were in the dance shop the other day, and I was looking at the little tiny skirts & leos.....feels like just yesterday that I was buying those for her. But I don't miss sewing the ballet slippers!

Samantha's (17dd) ballet teacher from the time the girls were about 8 or so they had to sew their own straps. And when they moved up to point she showed them how to sew those on.... she would never allow the girls to have their mothers do it for them. :thumbsup2
