DC DIS MEET THIS SUNDAY

I talked to Laura (eeyorelover) via email about meeting up this Sunday and she is fine with that.

Last I saw, M, Kristina and Mike were all interested in coming. Any others are more than welcome:goodvibes

Now for a place to meet. I am not an expert on the DC area, so my best suggestion was the Natural History museum at the Mall. It has a decent cafeteria we can have lunch at. Easy access from the metro too.

Also an option is Tyson Corners Mall as that is close to where Laura is. They have plenty of restaurants for lunch too.

Any other suggestions, please let us know:thumbsup2
Also suggestions for meeting times. I'm guessing 11:30 am would be ok ???

(just a sugggestion as I am not one of those involved) I couldn't help but think about the fact that Tyson's Corner Center has a Cake Love - for all of you piratey cake lovers!!!!:thumbsup2 :wizard: Just a thought!!!!!:)

:) Hello to everyone!!!!!:)

Thanks for the Avis code! :thumbsup2 The $90 from Budget did not include insurance. Although we've had good luck with Budget in the past, I went ahead and switched to Avis using the same code as you to save $30. I don't see anywhere on the confirmation that any type of verification is needed to rent.

Christopher, did you check to see if your credit card includes CDW/LDW insurance? I know some vans do not qualify but also check your car insurance policy as well, as I recently read a travel article that some do cover it.

Thanks again for arranging the wrist bands!

I also had my card shut down by Chase (at WDW) for too many "out of area" purchases and I had to call them to let them know I was on vacation and that the charges were okay. I agree, I'd rather be safe but before I leave for the TOAL, I'll be calling them ahead of time to let them know to expect lots of "out of area" charges.

I think I might do this too. They have never shut down my card when we are in WDW. they probably think, there's that crazy woman in WDW again. Doesn't she ever stay home! :lmao:

Wrong expiration dates will cause you to speak to the fraud dept and boy do they quiz you. We used to be able to remove those but not anymore.

I won't take the worst customer service remark personally tho as you probably haven't spoken to me.:goodvibes

That I did. It didn't take very long either. My friend had her cc declined renewing her subscription to Ancestry because her cc company had a fraud alert for Ancestry, so she had to call to put it through.

So if I have to talk to you about my cc, that isn't good, eh?:confused3

I was looking into Super Shuttle last night. I'll probably make a ressie with them. Works out to about $14 per person with the discount coupon found on the mousesavers.com site. Beats using the Disneyland Express bus (@$20 per person) and we don't have the wait at DL Hotel while they collect money and I know our Hotel is one of the last stops on their drop off route - Hojo's will be even past ours.

Coupon?

as soon as we get off this cruise we will have a couple of days until the booking for oasis starts. have to try to get some extra ot in. we will have the expense from this trip, all the little things that are not paid for yet that adds up to big $$$$. than the rebooking on board, than a couple days later oasis.yes i will be a trader again.

Didn't mean it personally! I had no idea!

Well I had spoken with them when I did all my other credit cards and they were unable to do it "that" far in advance. Since it was a monthlong trip, I was actually calling again to do it right before we left. The check was cashed on Friday and it was a holiday weekend, we were leaving on Monday. So basicly it was just "Too bad". Good thing that was just our backup card!

Another thing that made me mad recently was they changed the payment address. OK my fault for not checking every month, really, but I noticed that my payments were not getting cashed. I called up and all I got was "Nope we obviously didn't receive anything since it's not posted". Now you would think that I'm not the only one that uses the auto pay through the bank and they would have said "Oh did you check the payment address?" Neither person I talked to when I called asked that...

It's also our highest interest rate card when we're not using the 0% interest :confused3

I have to agree on the card not being the best out there as far as features as concerned. My rate is 6% higher on the Disney card than my USAA. I will defiitely go back to my USAA Visa after this trip.

I was at a party one time and someone asked where I worked and the reponse I got was "Your company sucks". Great....;) Nice to meet you too. I guess we have grown from a 1 billion dollar company to a 9 billion dollar company in 15 years because we suck.

Don't worry. I LOVE RCCL!!!! Although I do prefer the Radiance class ships size. Although.... the Adventure of the Seas' ice sakting rink shows were pretty cool!

:rotfl2:

DAY TWO: I don't think anyone has noticed the money missing from the office petty cash fund.

Memo to Employees:

Management has noticed the ongoing disappearance of money from petty cash, and the drain on material from the supply room (it seems that each member of our staff goes through three pens, 200 paperclips, 5 pads of paper and a stapler every 4 hours). We are increasingly concernd with these losses and will be forming a committee to investigate them and those found to be responsible will be asked politely to stop.

We remind employees that anyone caught browsing DIS will be fired immediately.

Thanks for the tip. Does it help to eat lunch at 11:00 - 11:30 and dinner at 5:00 to avoid long lines? That seems to work at WDW. We're east coasters, the time difference is on our side.

Regarding White Water Snacks at the GC, is it reasonable to leave DCA to go there? The hotel connects to the park - seems like it would work...

If the outside restaurants are really that close, they may be a good dinner option.

Yes, eating early does help.

And yes, very easy to get to White Water Snacks. There's a park entrance/exit at the Grand California, right across from Grizzly River Rapids. WWS is just to the left of that entrance inside Grand Californian.

To the WDW veterans, I often describe the walk between the 2 parks as walking from Epcot Furture World to World Showcase. They are right across from each other. And the outside restaurants would start behind Mexico (still using the Epcot analogy). No more than a 10 minute walk from the DL entrance gates.

The menu at Steakhouse 55 looks yummy especially since they serve Grand Marnier Souffle' (my absolute fav), but it's not cheap to begin with & then everything looks like it is a la carte! If you want a potato &/or vegetable do you need to add $12 to every entree listed? Looks like I'll be having my souffle on board! :worried:

Hmmmm I have them all but keeping track of who discounts where is going to be confusing. Should I just ask each time we eat?

:lmao:

That's what I do. Can't always remember where I get discounts so I ask do I get a discount with Visa, AP...etc. They'll tell you. But they won't tell you if you don't ask.

That's what I thought! I plan on trying to hop between the two parks both Friday and Saturday so that we can maximize our time.

Made our final PS for Wine Country Trattoria for dinner on the 16th.

I am quoting myself here but I asked a question on the trip report thread for those that were on the WB and they said that the dining rotation repeated every 3 nights, no being in the same restaurant two nights in a row in the middle of it

Yes, the PC crossings are doing regular rotations LAP, LAP, etc. But the Mexico cruises are doing the mixed up rotations LAAPLA, etc.

Good Morning everyone! TGIF!

Hope everyone is doing well this morning.

Wristband Update!

I finally finalized the wristband order! So here is the good news and the semi-not so good news.

First the wristbands will be under 40 cents each (just waiting for my cc to go through)! To get the cheaper price, I ordered 1,000 wristbands, so if anyone didn't put in an order and still wants them, I can do it. I ordered more of the red/black ones, since they were the most popular and some extra lime green large ones.

Now for the not so good news, that really will only effect the pirates that want the wristbands mailed before the cruise. I was quoted a production time of 14-21 business days, which would mean I would receive them mid July. the rep told me around July 18 or 21st.That's not to say I might get them sooner. Fingers crossed!

I will start PM'ing everyone who wants them mailed the first week in July, with amounts and my addy. Next week I need to work on wrapping up the PTO Treasurers job I've had this past year, so the books can go to the school board office for the audit. Plus get this weekend over, cause I'm working overtime tomorrow!

I probably speak for most when I say that we can wait and see you at the terminal or on the ship and pay for the wristbands then to avoid a lot of hassle for you having to send them out -- just as we are doing for the lanyards . . . thanks so much for doing this!

I see that Monica beat me to it, but I agree totally -- eating at odd times helps as does leaving the park and eating in Downtown Disney . . . and everything is so easy to walk to.

Best wishes to you all.

Yes Disneyland doesn't seem to have enough sit down meal places imho, you have to plan in advance, little chance of 'winging' it on the day.

Ever had ones of those days, felt a pain in my shin / calf mussel on Wednesday night, got worse on Thursday so went to my local GP (Doctor) today expecting a strain.

I might have pulled a ligament, and its very painful, but the GP referred me to A&E (Accident and emergency) Hospital and I had to have tests and will be having injections all weekend every 24 hours until Monday. The mussel might have come off part of the bone, and they are worried about the possibility of DVT, so being careful.

Seems I have done a bit more damage than I thought, so feet up all weekend,

:scared1: Take care of yourself, Andrew!:scared1:

Yes firstly its easy to walk to everythnig at DL, (if both legs working) and the resturants in Downtown disney are good and easy to get to, and pop out/in the ark.

Thanks re leg, lying down with leg up to give it rest,

THIS I can afford!!:rotfl2:

Probably not then...

Ya know, I hate the Disney cc... I've had more probems with them than I care to mention (including them cashing the check, but not crediting it to our account so our account was blocked the day before our monthlong honeymoon in Australia and NZ!) They have the worst customer service I've ever dealt with as far as ccs go. But can't beat 6mo no interest on the cruise!

Speaking of credit cards - this might be a good time to remind people about the Capital One credit cards. Generally speaking, they are the only card still available that imposes no foreign transaction fees. For those who plan on spending significant money abroad, this can save you quite a bit.

Make sure you charge enough to cover the difference for the extras you bought. You shouldn't absorb the unsold.
