Speaking of credit cards - this might be a good time to remind people about the Capital One credit cards. Generally speaking, they are the only card still available that imposes no foreign transaction fees. For those who plan on spending significant money abroad, this can save you quite a bit.
An additional suggestion on credit cards, take a few on this trip, and tell your Bank / credit card company about one week before you go, of the places and ports you will be going to, there are many security checks nowadays, and your cards could be stopped, when they do stop a card, they may call your home phone or write a letter, but you will not be there, they wont call the ship, so to avoid expensive calls to unblock your card tell them a week before, Do not do it too soon as they will forget or it will be buried in all of the other admin.
Also Disney or
DCL, will seek an 'authorisation' for a certain limit as you check in to yuor hotel or the ship, often this is a per day amount say $100 per day so fro a 15 day cruise it could be 1,500. Whilst you may not 'use' this limit the authorization is outstanding all the time you are there and eats into yourauthorizationyour limit which could cause a refusal.
Whatever is easiest for you, seriously!
Did the doctors say how long you will have to rest it?
I agree totally. Round up to a number that is easy to deal with and still covers what you spent.
Hey Andrew ... For your sake I hope it is not a DVT... Been there, done that. It is not fun. Listen to the doctor, and be sure to get up and walk around on your flight from England. Take care, and all the best.
Julie ... Thanks for all your work with the wrist bands. You are getting a straight dollar from me for both of mine! You deserve it for all your work.
Everyone else !! Hi, have a great weekend all!
Mary Jane
There wasnt a space in the DVT clinic for a scan until Monday the options are:-
1/ A bad ligament strain
2/ DVT
The GP (My local assigned doctor), Thinks its DVT, and wanted me to go straight to A&E, A&E think it might be a ligament strain, or torn ligament, but as I cannot have this confirmed to Monday, and I have a blood condition that has confused them in the past, they do not wish to take any risk.
So I am on a Daily injection ( every 24 hours) at A&E, till Monday, -will be full of holes by then, and then the scan will see.
In the meantime I must rest the leg, because of the possible Ligament issue, but also keep moving if DVT!!
I personally feel its ligament was surprised by all the fuss really, but the ligament will take about a Month to correct. I can walk on it, by its painful, but it wouldn't stop me on the holiday!
The Doctors are aware I have lost a lot of weight over the last 5 months and part of that is walking, so that is a possible cause, but also as I went by train within a month and sat for three hours, they cannot discount DVT.
