The ships photographers will be off the ship from the first lock until the last. They took pictures all day long last time. We found about 5 or 6 pictures of our verandah with our banner.

::yes:: I agree - on the WB - the photogs loved the banners! A sure way to get your room and name in shots! Oh you verandah people :rolleyes1 anyone holding an all out deck party? Since I travel in steerage - I may be out on the deck burning (um....tanning) myself but would be more than happy to visit any friends I have on the upper classier VERANDAH decks..........assuming you all wouldn't not be embarrassed to have the lower class people associate with you? :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

:scratchin I think I would just crash one of your decks anyway!
Just kidding - I'd wait for the door to open then run in there.

Stace - thanks for the velcro tip - now I don't have to worry about my granny panties being shot at. :rotfl2:

Now why didn't I think about that velcro tip for my necklaces? Hmmm......:scratchin may have to get more jewlery to try this tip out. Thanks! ::yes::

See...that is why I love this boards - lots of friendly tips. ;)

OK OK OK - I'm slinking off to my cave now. Yesterday I came out long enough to get an ice cream from the ice cream truck and my eyes - they burned! Had to run back inside or risk burning my eyeballs. This is sad. :sad2:

Oh well as my mom said, get my work done and then go out and play!

Later all :wave2:

COOL CRUISE TIP

Just so that we aren't drying our swim suits or granny panties on a line on the verandah.....:upsidedow

I found some re-usable velcro loops. They're long enough to loop around a chair on the verandah, or through the wire basket that protects the light fixture on the verandah, and loop through the strap on a swimsuit, or a leg hole. That way, the suit can hang all night to dry and I don't have to worry about it blowing away in the wind.

I found them at Home Depot, with all the other velcro tabs...near where they have hardware for doors and chains and "s" hooks.

And the more I think about it, I may loop one over the closet bar and hang my necklaces on it so they don't get tangled.

For verandah types... buy a pack of the small suction cups with a small hook on it... and stick them low on the glass to hang wet suits off of.

And buy a pack of the windex wipes.... as the view thru the verhandah is so much nicer with squeaky clean glass.

also a ziplock bag with some downey sheets for the laundry.

CORRECTION:

I am so sorry! I just opened the velcro package...good thing I did, since it was stapled shut with those big thick hard to remove staples....anyway...

EACH VELCRO TIE IS ONLY 8" LONG. They'll still work for what I wanted, but I'll have to loop two or more together. Good thing they come 50 to a package. Here's a picture....

OKAY EXPERTS....QUESTION!

How hard will it be to hang the banner on Canal day? Can we just use really long tie wires?

And.....how will we know what time the ship's photographers will be out on land taking pictures?

Stacey I have no actual experience with this but I remember Todd mentioning that he used the plastic zip ties.

anyone holding an all out deck party?

Not an all out deck party, but my verandah will be open. Actually have a door stopper as I plan to open my room to visitor's any time I'm 'just relaxin'.

As for necklaces, I have a suction cup hook that I got in the bed/bath dept at Walmart. You push the suction cup in, then snap the hook down. Sort of hard to understand, but they're near the soap holders and such. I used these on my trips to WDW. They suck great to the mirrors. Have some that hang in the bathroom too for the wet bathing suits.

I was afraid that they might be too thick to fit through. :confused3 Or not long enough.
I had a huge roll of zip tie.....one long, long, long zip tie, and you cut off what you needed as you went along. But the kids made a tangled mess of it. So this morning I unraveled it all. I now have zip ties that cross from my kitchen to the dining room and back again.

A couple of cruises, I've used the sticky-hooks that you can remove by pulling down on the white sticky stuff. I stick one in the closet to hang my necklaces on. But this time, since I'm taking the velcro anyway, I may as well just use that.

On CC we use those metal clips that have the spring latch on them to hook them to the umbrella.

hmm i think your statement brought on a really good idea...I could use those bed sheet tighteners or kids glove hooks for the curtain. (since we only have a window too and they hav ehooks on both ends)

I gained 10 pounds just looking.

i didn't look...

Just back from seeing WALL.E - great movie. There's even a DCL credit right at the end.

We're using zipties for hanging our banner (5ft x 3ft)

Happy 4th of July weekend to our US friends and a belated Happy Canada Day for our Canadian friends. We saw a fun fireworks display at a local park last night.:thumbsup2

I had some time today to catch up with (actually skim) the thread. Hope I haven't missed anything crucial. It's amazing that we booked this cruise on January 20, 2007 and now we can finally say that we're going next month!

As I count it, there's only 43 days left until we get to meet all of you on the Magic. The anticipation is building. Have a great weekend.:cool1:

Attention!!!!
please!!

Please send room numbers for those of you who linked dining with Captain's Dining(early) or Party Hearty Dining(late). When DCL gets you out of those wonderful GTY rooms....... please send us your new room number. We must update this information to the dining person at DCL. Send to goofyforlife@yahoo.com for early and micmsecheryl@yahoo.com for late.

You may continue!!!;) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My oldest called just a little bit ago...... He just talked to a friend of his (they are 28 now and have known each other since they were about 9 or 10). His friend called him to let him know that his 9 month old baby boy (we have known his wife since they were either in Jr Hi or just starting HS...) was diagnosed with Cancer today. :sad1:

They will do surgery to remove his tumors next week and then a few days later they will put in his port.
I am heartbroken for them.

Steph- sending prayers for the baby boy. I have friends going through the same situation. Their baby boy was diagnosed with kidney cancer. One kidneys was removed and the other had a smaller tumor in the center. They just found out that it is the "better cancer" to have; the the odds of a cure went up to an almost definite cure. He's starting chemo and doesn't have to go through radiation. Hopefully your son's friends will have a positive outcome as well.

OK Moms. How jealous are you?? DSs have been at Camp GrammyGrampy for a week & DH left a few minutes ago to join them in southern Ohio (Salt Fork Lake) for 4 days. I'm all alone.

Lucky you :cool1: .... that is just so not fair  I sometimes have Camp Aunty (my sister) but not this year (my parents are gone and my MIL's never have and can't now. ...... enjoy!:goodvibes

Hey Laura:yay:

We're also open to having folks drop in and hang out on our verandha:thumbsup2

Thanks again for handling the Secret Mickey stuff:hug:

Wow, things like this make me realize how much I take my kids health for granted:guilty:
Glad his prognosis is good:)

Made DH try on most of his pants. His conception of what is appropriate for dinner and mine are not finding common ground. At this point as long as he has pants on I'm fine. He reminded me we are on vacation. He is renting the Tux so we have that covered..:lmao:

Sounds like we have DH's cut from the same mold. However, you are one up on me - tux was a no go with DH. Still working on him about at least doing a shirt and tie.

And if you wander around that album, lots of WB pictures...... (I'm Innocent!)

Also, that is the type of album we are looking for the pirate sharing site.

Snapfish has a group album share that is very easy to use. We did that for our last cruise and ended up getting some great shots of us that we never would have gotten otherwise. All the DISers took pictures of each other at events and always of the kids when they were doing something. It was great!
