I'm not Harry but I've been to Savannah (on business) but it's a beautiful old South city. Go down to the waterfront where there is a lot of activity - many restaurants, etc. Head up into the main part of downtown where the town square is. It's like the set of a movie. Very cool place.

Thanks Jeff, any info from anyone will be good, as I plead my "case" to my DH about going to HHI next summer.:rotfl2: Have you also been to Charleston, we may do day trips to both.

Thats Awsome!!!! i cant wait to go!!! im going into colonial williamsburg, bush gardens, and water country. this is my first time there, so im very excited yet sad because this is the first summer ever that im not going to disney world LOL.

We are doing Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown, and Ripley's museum (the rest we are going to play by ear) for the first 4 days. The rest of the week will be spent at Great Wolf Lodge and their waterpark. We don't plan on leaving the resort since there is so much to do there.

Sounds fantastic, Jeff! Yet another vacation that needs to happen... :goodvibes

Hilton Head is definitely on our 'must do' list, Nikki... :thumbsup2

I was in Charleston once - but it was a long time ago and it was for a one day meeting so I didn't get to really see the city. What I remember is much of the same. Old Southern charm...beautiful mansions and a really nice city.

Holy cow it's been quiet here today. Hope everyone is having a great day. I finished an enormous project today - well part of a project...writing copy for a 28 page brochure..and after I get some feedback I have three other related projects. I did it all over the past five days so I've been agonizing over every word and thus have developed a post-big project migraine! oh joy. So needless to say I've gotten nothing else done since delivering this project.

Hey Harry, when you go to Hilton Head, have you gone into Charleston or Savannah? If so, what did you do there?

We've done both - usually Savannah as a day trip, but we've stayed a few days post HHI in Charleston.

When the DVC resort first opened they ran tours to Savannah, but it's close enough to do on your own. Did the basic tourist stuff there - trolley tour, etc. River Street shops and restaurants are pretty good.

Charleston is very nice. We have spent a lot of time touring the city and hitting the restaurants! Day trips out to some of the plantations are also pretty nice, too.

There's a tour company on HHI that offers a full-day cruise/trip to Savannah. You get about 4 hours in Savannah, plus a nice boat ride back and forth.

The best thing I can say about the entire area can be summed up simply with - she crab soup!

I almost forgot about that. LOVE she crab soup.

I always try the local cuisine! :)

Though I must say it took awhile to shake the Primanti Bros out of my system after my last trip through Pittsburgh!
