I always try the local cuisine! :)

Though I must say it took awhile to shake the Primanti Bros out of my system after my last trip through Pittsburgh!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: Best late night food ever. When I was in college, that's where we would go after the bars.

Thanks, Harry!!!!!!!!!!!! I just showed it to Bruce we may try to go there~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Crash,,

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Just swinging through ta say "hello!

for whatever it's worth... I've read through more pages here than I have on the last 1000 postings of my "other" cruise meet thread (AUG 17th)

Oh gosh Ed. I'm soo sorry to hear that. Please,, take care of yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well....

... I'd like to share a story I posted on the other cruise meet thread - it's something I hope helps someone out there avoid an accident or worse... a trageedy.

Lisa,

...[edited]...

So on another note - here's something sad and/or glad depending upon ones perspective. I share this as a thought for consideration in guarding OUR children.

Bicycle%20Accident.jpg

Just today we attended our 1st swim team practice - and I noticed one of the younger girls whom we knew well as wearing an odd swim suit "tight" with curious geometry and patches. So I casually enquired - and the Mom told me her daughter's suit had patches to cover her SKIN GRAFTS to prevent scarring. Further conversation revealed that thier daughter had been RUN OVER by a car! It was then I realized that here it was that thier daughter was probably the one I heard about! Some of the neighbors had been talking about a little girl in our community who had been riding her bicycle with her sister and father - and had gotten a bit ahead of them (Dad trailing)... and a car backed out of the driveway and ... and this happened.

The notion I am suggesting is that we need to LEAD our kids when riding bikes, scooters or anything else. I am guilty of NOT keeping up except when the kids reach an interesection - where they are forbidden to cross without an adult. WELL.... since having heard this story I now lead my kids on rides anywhere. And, now it comes to pass that we KNEW the family who had this tragedy. We've been to the Hollywood Bowl with them - done neighborhood pot luck gatherings and such - but obviously we're not THAT close to them. And oddly enough we had not done much with them in a few months. Now we know why we had not seen much of the parents like we used to. [ Sigh ] .... Thier kids are one grade ahead of Julianna and Kelea respectively... so our kids are close in age but don't quite match up for some kinds of gatherings.

At any rate, I had mentioned there might besome who would think there was somtething positive to be "GLAD" about. And having seen the recovering little one I can say it is wonderful to see her practicing with the swim team. Her recovery implies a lot of healing has resulted in a lot of normal function recovered in spite of the horriffic nature of the accident. And - of course - I only found out superficially today. SO I did not ask how much recovery has really occured - and how much is NOT recovering the way we'd like. Questons like that are not quite appropriate ... yet. OR... possibly ever... depending upon the circumstances. Only time will tell.

Remember... I was the one who was also hit by a car while I rode my bicycle in a charitable fundraiser for MS ... where it broke my hip and a wrist... plus I lost a few ounces of skin too from the tumble. So - bicycle accidents are something I am uniquely qualified to remark on. Everyone must remember to ALWAYS wear a properly adjusted crash helmet - because in my case the helmet was damaged/destroyed - as it should be in protecting ME from having my head seriously damaged.

At any rate - I share these experiences in the hopes that someone - someday here will AVOID a tragedy because of the increased caution that they exercise while recalling my TURE stories. We're all trying desperately to do the best we can - I really believe that - yet we're all imperfect people (excepting maybe counselors Lil'G or TOM31 who "might" be p-e-r-f-e-c-t :duck: ) so hopefully the best we can do is ENOUGH... eh?! < wink >

I'm such an odd-ball... quoting myself here.... but remember my intentions are really just "protective" of our children in this "virtual community"

Hi all,

Well its been a trying two weeks, the team I am on will be short a person, there is 3 of us. I am the longest member of the group, the second longest is taking another position in the company, The Jr member and I will need to pick up his workload, and on call schedule.

With the hiring freeze in place it look like this will be a long term shortage for our group.

Add to this, I got my latest A1C test and my numbers are up.:worried:
The Dr has changed my medicine. Time to get back to watching what I eat. Now instead of $10 a month, my medicine bill is up to $100

add that to the rising cost of food, gas and what it was going to cost to board our pets during our vacation, it looks like I will need to cancel our summer vacation plans this year.

Sorry all but I had to vent.

Sorry to hear of this adverse developement Ed.... but if its' any consolation to ya... we have close freinds where the spouse is fighting a terrible chronic illness ... and she has ONE medication that is costing $8000 per month! Fortunately - her insurance is paying the vastmajority of the bill on that - but she does have a mugh higher than normal "special" drug co-pay. :faint:

So - we'll be praying for the BEST for your recovery to good health again.

Morning TTSers!!! :wave2:

Gorgeous day here in London and I'm going to pound the pavements for an hour or so! :yay: Got the iPod at the ready and my running shoes firmly secured so off I go - wish me luck... ;)

We've done both - usually Savannah as a day trip, but we've stayed a few days post HHI in Charleston.

When the DVC resort first opened they ran tours to Savannah, but it's close enough to do on your own. Did the basic tourist stuff there - trolley tour, etc. River Street shops and restaurants are pretty good.

Charleston is very nice. We have spent a lot of time touring the city and hitting the restaurants! Day trips out to some of the plantations are also pretty nice, too.

There's a tour company on HHI that offers a full-day cruise/trip to Savannah. You get about 4 hours in Savannah, plus a nice boat ride back and forth.

The best thing I can say about the entire area can be summed up simply with - she crab soup!

Thanks Harry. I think the trolley tour sounds good, I would really like to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant too. A plantation tour sounds good to in Charleston, I don't know about the crab soup though, you know I live in Maryland- I don't know about eating crabs anywhere else.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Good morning everyone!
Busy day here. I finished the huge part of the writing project (a 28 page brochure) but now have 3 smaller ancillary projects to that one to start thinking about.

Today we have a swim meet preceded by swim team pictures and supervised by... me. Yes. I volunteered for the worst swim team parent job for the second year in a row. No one else would do it and I wanted to make sure we actually got pictures. Now I get to deal with the "Wives of Wexford" who (1) forget what time they are supposed to be there (2) forget their order forms (3) forget their checkbooks (4) forget their kids. And it will be all my fault. I actually had to tell one woman last year that "I'm just a parent volunteer here and quite frankly could use some help. Do you have an hour you can spare?" Of course she didn't. Nail appointment or some such thing.

So it should be a fun fun fun day here. I'll be at the pool starting at 3 p.m. and probably get home at 9.

Better get to work!

Morning All......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Crash,, Good to hear from you....

Hope all is well with everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is everyone today??:goodvibes

Doing Ok, Just been a busy couple of days.

Took the family to our Town pool on Saturday, calling it a pool is under selling it.

It was Once an elegant private estate, then an exclusive country club for the likes of Rockefeller, Roosevelt and F. Scott Fitzgerald,

The town purchase Longshore in 1960, the New York Times on July 25, 10=960 wrote. Westport's residents own Luxurious Country club.

The site still has an 18 hole Golf Course, two swimming pool, tennis courts, boating marina, The Inn at Longshore for fine dinning and receptions.

Sunday went into NYC to see The Little Mermaid and a trip to the American Girl store and lunch an Dinner in the city. All this as an early birthday present for Cailtin, she turns 11 on Thursday.

For me, work yesterday and then a 2 hrs diabetes education class. At get home and the two of our production servers were down.:scared1:

Well got them back up and running and then time of bed. :rotfl:
