8/10/2008 - Mexican Party Cruise - Who's Here??

This is my first post anywhere ever so forgive me if i do something wrong. This will be my husband's and my second cruise, after a three-day to mexico on carnival about twelve years ago, and its my 10-year old daughter's first cruise. I have spent hours trying to read all the advice on these boards and was so worried about getting the excursions etc. that i have spent months reading about. At 901 pm last night, i logged on and was able to pretty much get what we wanted, yay! now the pressure is off and the excitement is building! We booked the dolphin swim in cabo, nothing in mazatlan, and the zipline in PV. We also got a dinner at Palo but nothing else was available. Overall, I'm feeling very lucky.

:welcome: aboard!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :cool1:

Nice to meet you. My name is Karen and I'm cruising with my husband, Richard and our youngest son, Samuel. We're from the UK and really looking forward to a great trip. We're flying over to LAX on the Saturday August 9th and staying overnight at the Queen Mary hotel in Long Beach. After the cruise, we're staying at the Disneyland Hotel for 6 nights before flying back to London...

Well done getting the reservations you wanted - now you can relax... :goodvibes Look forward to chatting with you more... :)

Hey guys, any more thoughts on doing the Fish Extender exchange thingy????

I've never participated in the Fish Extender Exhange before. Can some one explain it? :confused3

We have dinner booked at Palo's for the 2nd night of the cruise.:goodvibes I just hope that we get the same dining rotation that we have had in the past because then it coincides with the meal I would like to miss.

We are doing DL & CA for 4 days after the cruise. Now I need to figure out where we are going to make our PS for each night.

We'd be in for the Fish Extender exchange. One of our cruisemates on our last cruise makes them and sells them on ebay. (I can PM anyone her contact info if you are interested).

Basically you bring little presents and deposit them in others' fish extenders. Things like candy, pencils, little disney stuff. It's a fun surprise every time you come back to the cabin.

Jeff

Hey Jeff! Are you back yet??? :goodvibes

With regards to the Fish Extender exchange, if someone just tells me where and when to put my gifts into the appropriate receptacle, I'm there! :thumbsup2

Yep we got back last night. We are all exhausted. It was a struggle getting DD9 to school this morning. And I am not functioning on all cylinders. Thankfully I don't have anything pressing this week but June is going to be a crazy month for sure. What I really need right now is a massage. I think I need to schedule one for later this week.

Welcome! We are traveling with a DD9 and a DD4. We are doing the dolphins in Cabo too (DDs are doing the Dolphin Kids and I'm doing a swim), doing the "Best of Mazatlan" and Paradise Beach in PV. I really want to do the zipline but don't want to leave my family for the day. I may change my mind onboard if it is still available, however.

If you want to try brunch at Palo, go to Rockin Bar D (or whereever they are doing it for our cruise) as soon as you board and see what is available. If nothing is available, they will put you on a waiting list. On our first cruise, we waitlisted for both brunch and dinner and got called for both! :cool1:

The fish extenders sound like a lot of fun. We'd do it. My kids would really enjoy it.

uh-oh. we slipped to page 2 again. michelle - elizabeth will write back to sami shortly. she was so happy to hear from her while we were at wdw.

Happy Thursday one and all!

It's a beautiful day here in sunny London - for once! I really hope the weather keeps up it's end of the bargain as we're having a barbecue on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Samuel's 15th birthday! He's actually 15 on Friday and I'll be taking him out to the largest mall in Europe for an afternoon of shopping (he's choosing a new laptop), food and a movie. DH will join us for the movie and dinner - it's going to be fab... :goodvibes

Cruise-wise, it shouldn't be long before the first Mexican Riviera cruisers are back - be interesting to read their reviews...

Have a great day!:cool1:

Me again! :faint: Just wanted to say I've started designing our door magnets today - here's a taster...

You're very kind, Jeff BUT it's amazing what you can do with Photoshop - no talent required... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

OK. I've gotta get on with my life now! Steppin' away from Photoshop...

Well, I stepped away and put the laptop down - for a while...

I'm very pleased with this one...

A theoretical question for the board. How much longer do I wait before booking my airfare? The prices stink. And there has been a little movement but I can't find the actual flight times I want for anything near a dollar amount I'm willing to spend. My other choice is to fly in late day and basically just sleep at the GCH the first night and wake up ready to hit the park first thing in the AM. Clearly I should have booked back in March when the price was semi-reasonable. I'm afraid if I wait longer it will only get worse. Anyone have any insight into airline prices to help me make my decision.

Oh Jeff, I feel for you! We had to cancel our NYE DCL cruise coz the air fares were more than double what we had estimated based on the previous year! Ridick or what..?!

Sorry, I don't have the answer - in the UK there ain't no rhyme nor reason to airfares at the mo. I just hope you can get a price that's acceptable...

Well we aren't going to cancel the cruise no matter what. I just need to book it soon so I don't drive myself crazy.
