The snow is still disgusting

It was Joan's Birthday, She is the sec. from the left with the brown sweater...
I had just met the other two girls. It was funny, as we all knew Joan, but didn't know each other...
The girl on the far right(Terri), Joan works with at an architectural co.
The girl on the far left(Colleen), works for a printing co. that Joan does business with thru her work, and I know Joan because her husband use to work with mike(for about 30 years, before they both got laid off. Bill was laid off the year before Mike.)and are our good friends. So no one felt like the odd man out...We all had a great time!

and I agree with you about the snow being disgusting..I am hoping Ill get out of my driveway alright. It is suppose to be in the 40s today, and I dont have to be at work til noon, so Im thinking it will be OK...

I hope you're all well, and in a great mood because it's Friday

Any plans for the weekend girls ? We've got a quiet one ahead of us, but that's OK as we've got a couple of fun ones coming up. It's Becky's 18th birthday next weekend, then we're going up to Manchester for the night in a couple of weeks time, and then me & Paul are heading to Wales for my friends 40th birthday in 4 weeks time

Betsy, it looks like you had a great time for your friends birthday, I love your photos, but all that snow is scary, if we had that much, I wouldn't even attempt to dig my car out. I hope all the snow has gone now

This is what I got up to this morning.......

Usually the branches on this tree are pointing up and over the roof of the house.

Yesterday there was all grass out there. Now today it is back covered in snow again

Oh well. We leave on Tuesday afternoon for Florida. We are driving down and will be back on Sunday March 27th. So I just have to get through until then.

Liz is coming home tomorrow. We have to drive to the city to pick up her bridesmaid dress for Alex's wedding.

There is a "home show" this weekend that I would like to go to. You know.. where they put out booths and show their stuff. All stuff to do with homes and gardens. Since we are possibly going to build a new house, I think it will be interesting to go and have a look.

That is the total of my plans so far.

My friend is on the Disney Dream at the moment (lucky thing), I wish I was there right now

Doesn't your heart go out to everyone caught up in the Japan earthquake/tsunami ? I've been watching CNN all day, and it is just shocking and so sad, my thoughts go out to everyone over there

What is Liz's bridesmaid dress like ? Will you take a photo if you're able to ?

It is not so much that the snow is a problem, it is not really all that deep. But it has snowed so much this winter that we are just getting tired of it. It seems to be never ending. We are all so ready to see an end to it.

We are going to Florida so the men can fly their airplanes. There is no competition, just having fun for a week.

We have a house rented near Venice, Florida which is about an hour south of Tampa. It looks very nice and has it's own pool.

I am just going to soak up some sunshine and warmth.

We are at the house from Friday March 18 to Friday March 25 and then we are heading over to Orlando for 2 days. The one full day that we are there we are going to Disney. Our friends have only been to Magic Kingdom, so we wanted to show them another part of Disney. We are thinking of doing Hollywood Studios. Next to the Magic Kingdom, it has a nice mix of "rides" and tamer things.

I haven't been watching any tv but that is awful what has happened. It seems like there is more and more disaster everyday. But then of course before we had the internet and all the great communications, it still happened but we never heard about it as much.

I will definitely take a picture of Liz in her dress and post it for you. It is a blue colour, maybe a bit like the blue in this smilie ---> At least that is the impression that I have but I never saw the dress in it's actual colour because it had to be ordered.

These are only quick pictures that I took at the dress store when she tried it on.

Turns out she has lost about 12 pounds since she ordered the dress in August. Now it is huge in the top. She says that she can hide things in there It will have to be altered a bit I'm thinking to make it look better.

Thanks Mandy. The dress turned out to be a prettier colour than we were anticipating.

I hope to have a good time in Florida, even if most of it is spent sitting in a chair reading a book

In fact, judging by the weather report, I don't know if I will ever come back

ITS THE WEEKEND...So I will ask you first this time...LOL
Any plans for this weekend?....

I have to work tomorrow, but I will be having every other Sat. off from now on.
I have also asked for every other Thurs. off too. My coworker really needs the hrs(money), and I could use a little extra time home for the summer. My gardens have been neglected for the last two years, and Id like to get them going again..With Mike working again I don't need to, but I also like my job, so don't want to lose it all together... This is a happy medium.
So now I will have Sundays and Mondays off together like normal, but also Wed. and Thurs. off together on the weeks I work on Saturday. I will now only be working three days a week.

Well I hope you enjoy your weekend, what ever your plans are

Hey Betsy, I hope you've had a lovely weekend

It's been a busy, but fun weekend here, as it was Becky's 18th birthday yesterday. We had a lovely day with friends and family popping in, and she received some lovely presents (there's lots of photos on my FB page, if you want to take a look)

I am just watching Hawaii Five 0 and then I'll be off to bed, I am so tired, but it has been a great weekend

Well its Friday again, but this week I have Sat.off.
Although Mike has to go back to work tonight at 10PM to test a program they have been building..He will have to work til 5AM.....
So I suspect he will be sleeping most of Sat. morning. I'm thinking I might do a little shopping so he can have a nice quiet house.

I have not been really happy with my work lately. They are starting to not treat the employees very well. Cutting hrs. for some and giving those hrs to favoreds(not me), and not giving the bonuses that were promised. We just got our "year end" this last paycheck...and some got bigger then others, which is fine except the ones who got bigger, worked there for less time then the ones who didn't . So there has been a lot of strife..

I understand that they are having a hard time keeping the business solvent, but, I really like all coworkers and hate to see this happening (most are young and just starting out)...It makes you not want to come into work, to encounter the next thing they have/have not done for the employees. I am working there for the enjoyment of the job...and enjoyable it has not been lately...So I'm just not sure I want to do this anymore. I am just going to have to see how this all plays out...BUT if they don't start going back to the way it was when I first started, I wont stay..which is sad, as I have really enjoyed the work in the past. Unfortunately the bloom is not only off the rose, it actually starting to dry up and die.

Oh well, at least Ill have a free summer..if I decide to stop working.
I have so much that needs doing at home, with my gardens and fixing all the things around the house...not to mention all the mowing we always have to find the time for......
Anyway....I am done boring you with the bumps in my life....

I bet Robin is having a great time...I saw it was warm and sunny there... in Fla. Im not sure when she was going home.

Oh!...while I'm on the vaca subject...I am happy to say, we upgraded to the Poly for our WDW trip....With the young ones we are taking, we decided that being on the monorail was a BIG plus...so we bit the bullet, and upgraded...I am sooo excited about this as the Poly is my Favortie!

I'm sorry to read that things at work haven't been much fun of late, there is nothing worse than poor morale at work, and it seems unfair when some people are being favoured over others. Everyone is going through tough times at the moment, and if there are any bonuses around, they should be shared fairly, as you're all in it together. I hope things improve hun

Poor Mike, it sounds like he will be sleeping most of the day tomorrow, and you're so good to go off and do the shopping and leave him in a quiet house

How exciting that you're heading to the Poly It's so nice there, and being on the monorail is so much fun

Well this weekend we're carrying on Becky's birthday celebrations as me, Paul, Becky and Luis are heading to Manchester for a bit of shopping and a nice meal at TGI's. Sadly Kerry hasn't got any more holidays left at work to come, but she has been away for a few days with college doing some photography (she posted some pics on my FB wall), so she shouldn't feel too hard done by

I have returned from beautiful sunny warm Florida. the weather was fantastic while we were there.

It is nice to go but it is also very nice to return home again.

I don't think you heard Mandy but Liz had a major accident with her car on Wednesday while we were away. She was driving to her hospital placement for school. A transport truck swerved into the lane of a pick up truck which swerved into Liz's lane which forced her to hit the cement median wall on the freeway. She hit it at least twice and then went across the three lanes of traffic to the shoulder on the right hand side of the road. Along the way the back of her car was clipped by another transport truck.

Very amazingly no one was injured. We have not heard yet but I don't think Liz's car has survived the whole experience. It was towed away and we are waiting to hear from the insurance company what they plan to do about it.

That was very difficult to deal with being so far away. When Liz first called me she was hysterical on the phone. It had just happened and she was still sitting in her car at the side of the road, stuck in a snowbank and not knowing what to do first.

But thankfully she is much better now.

Did you cut your vacation short ? or did you still get to Disney World, I hope you still had a lovely time once you knew that Liz was fine

I saw it on facebook, but never saw what happened exactly??...
At least she and everyone involved in the accident was OK....and you were also able to talk to her right away...Im sure she was glad to have Mom when she needed you. Very happy that everything is alright with Liz. I hope she will get a nice new car after all that...

Well I quit my job today...(sad to leave my coworkers) It was just getting to be too much favoritism, and unfair practices, there. I had a hard time going into work and also keeping my self-respect. Its all too bad ,as I loved the job I was doing,my coworkers and the clients. I just got to not like the people I worked FOR.
So I am going to res erect my gardens, that have been not tended to for two years, and have a veggie garden again....There is so much that needs doing around the house..I'm sure I will not be bored...

Well I hope your day is warmer then mine...I just dont know what happened to spring...But I'm siting here waiting for it...

What a shame that you felt you had to leave your job Betsy, I know how much you enjoyed it, but it sounds like things were getting rather unfair there, so I can understand why you decided to leave
