Just a quick post as I am headed out the door. I have much to tell you all, since I haven't been around much.
First, I saw "Man of La Mancha" (sp?) about 12 yrs ago off broadway, but I loved it. I chaparoned a trip to see some christmas play locally last year. I was surprised how well behaved all those kids were. I think most people enjoy live entertainment.

Second, I listen to classic rock, modern rock, alternative....stuff like that. But I also enjoy blues, big band, show tunes...pretty much all of it, though I don't typically listen to country and Rap I could do without. There is some country I enjoy, but it isn't my first choice on the XM.

Third, welcome to everyone. Lotsa newbies, hope they stick around and I get to meet 'em in what 9 wks or so?

Forth, I have pictures to upload, we had a doe and a couple of lambs in our dooryard this morning. I had to snap pictures through the window of our "back room" it's like our cellar. It's hunting season, and our land is posted so they should be safe if they stick around....a buck on the other hand....he's mine! I have a spot on the wall waiting for him to hang on. Eric and the kids love steak sandwiches made with venison!

Fifth...Happy Halloween, Hope everyone stays safe and has a great time. Trick or treating for us! I have a ninja and a witch going with me so I should be pretty safe!!

talk to you all soon!

Good Morning All!! :surfweb:

I'm currently uploading the pictures of the deer to show you all. As far as pictures of the kids all dressed up, I forgot my camera :sad2: ....Maybe I'll do a "set-up" shot later. I have the costumes in the washing machine right now. It was a rainy but not too cold trick or treat night. My sister and I meet at my mothers house and we walk to trick or treat from there. When it was time to head out and walk, I got wicked cramps and couldn't go. My mom took my kids. My sister is....high maintenance, and any time I do anything with her and her kids I end up with knots in my stomach and feeling sick. :crazy2: Anyway, it's over. The kids had a good time. That's what's most important, right?
I guess my brother, sisters and I ( and our families) are all going to my mom's for Thanksgiving this year. I haven't been to my mom's for thanksgiving for about 5 yrs. It gotten so difficult trying to go to two places, so we stopped. Last year it was only my mom and dad at their house for thanksgiving. My mother raised 6 kids and none went there....this year she'll get all of us!! :crowded: Maybe I'll talk her into going shopping on that Friday...her, myself, my oldest sister, her daughter, my niece that my mom raised. I should check with my sister today about that!

Did everyone else have a safe night?

Hi Wendy,
Cant wait for the pictures of the deer....
We had a fun night....Most of the kids came over(all but the smallest)...and picked up there goodies...They all LOVED Einstein (Albert)...in his MIckey costume....and I DONT know why ..but after eating all those cookies and a few candy bars (I might add).....I lost a lb. :cool1: :confused3 :cool1: ..
Im starting to like Halloween more and more :rotfl:

Anyway Im off to see whats happening on the other threads....and I want to catch Kellie on the morning shows....

So TTFN Ya all

I hope someone can answer this question for me.

What is the job description and responsibilities of a grade school guidance counselor?

Last year I felt Randall needed a "go-to" person at school. Randall is quite small for his age and has bowel and bladder issues. Randall utilizes the handicapped bathroom so he doesn't have to be confronted by the other kids in the public bathroom. He also has fine motor issues and back problems as well as other less obvious issues. I felt he needed someone to touch base with him on a regular basis to make sure there wasn't any teasing or maybe he just needed someone to talk to about school because he hates it sooooo much. The principal last year agreed and set up an informal meeting with the counselor and I, at which point she told me that wasn't really her job  and maybe I should take him to a psychologist. Not that I wouldn't have, but I was taken back by her answer. Needless to say the principal backed me up and she took Randall out of the classroom TWICE last year.(big deal...2 times! :furious: ) We have a new principal this year, one that I'm not familiar with, so I fell like I don't have the back up I used to. Randall's teacher has spoken the guidance counselor about Randall and told me that the counselor would probably get in contact with me about taking Randall out on a regular basis because he is either in a really happy/hyper mood or he is completely miserable. There's no happy medium. I just find it interesting that I suggested she meet with him last year but it didn't seem to be a good idea, now the teacher is requesting it and 3 wks later and I still haven't heard from the counselor. :confused3 I figure I must not really know what her job is. I know that my kids have a guidance class once a week that the whole class participates in, but other than that I'm confused.

Hi Guys

I hope you are all having a great day

Wendy ~ I look forward to seeing the piccie of the deer. Sorry you felt unwell last night, but I'm pleased that the kids enjoyed themselves. I'm not overly close to my family, and when I do see them, I get 'knots' in my tummy too (trust me to arrange for them all to come over before Christmas :rotfl: ).

Sorry to hear that Randall isn't getting the support he should at school. My DD had problems with school (she hated it too) a while back, and she was put in touch with a Christian Mentoring group that came into the school each week. My DD was able to talk through her problems with the Youth Worker and thankfully her worries eased (I always say that she was a little Angel sent to look after my DD). I really hope the school become more helpful ~ and soon

Betsy ~ well done on your 1 lb loss, I wish I could go on a candy/chocolate diet and lose weight (no chance :rotfl: ), glad you had a good Hallowe'en evening

Kelly ~ Hi there, I hope you are OK, have you been busy ??

Well I have just spent the last 2 1/2 hours writing all my Dis Christmas Cards. We have had over 40 people join on our UK Community card exchange and then there is 9 of us on here. My arm is aching a lot now :rotfl: though it was lots of fun, and it gave me a chance to listen to my Christmas CD again

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day

Mandy :)

Good morning everyone! :wave2:

Last night was the first time the kids didn't go trick or treating! :guilty: They did go with their dad to the Haunted Forest one last time before it shuts down for the year. They had lots of fun though :goodvibes

Betsy> Einstein looks so cute  The costume looks very nice :thumbsup2

Colleen> Thanks for the Palo report. The food looked very yummy :p

Mandy> How's your crew doing on the other side of the Atlantic?

Wendy> Our school's guidance counselor is there to guide our kids in every aspect (hence the name guidance counselor**please send this sarcasm to Miss Thing in Randall's school**). It burns me up sooo bad when people are so quick to dismiss things like that. I would speak with your school board and explain the situation and request guidance from them! They should be able to point you in the right direction :wizard: Good luck! P & PD pixiedust:

Oh yes ::yes:: , I'm definately ok!! Monday and yesterday, mom & dad had outpatient surgery. I went to check on them, they had follow up appts so they stayed the nite at a hotel near the dr office.

Mom felt so good she decided to go Christmas shopping. So we did that yesterday and ate plenty awful :goodvibes :guilty:

That's great news, did you buy anything ?? :)

Sure did! I bought a POTC shirt for Chad, a pirate shirt that says "Surrender the booty" for CW. I bought some other stuff, and went to the Disney store! They didn't have anything to fit Carolin anymore :guilty:, but I did get to sing along with all of the songs they were playing while mom shopped :rotfl2:

Got some interesting looks :teeth:

I'm still neck deep in move stuff, but wanted to stop and say hi! :flower3:

All of our furniture is in the new house. Most everything else is too...just a few closets and cabinets to empty out. The garage is another story...but the garage here is full and I don't know where to move the other stuff to! I'm trying to complete everything except the garage this week as the agent wants to have an open house on the old house this Sunday.

So much to accomplish...and the cruise is a week closer since the last time I dropped by.

Hi everyone.

HAPPY NOVEMBER!!!! :grouphug:

Hi Jennifer!

Glad to hear the move is going well! :wizard: for the energy to complete the task! Good luck with the sale of the old house, p&pd pixiedust:

Robin!

I missed your hello :wave2: How are things your way? What day do you leave for your cruise?
