I know that I said I've never worn a dress on a cruise yet but that doesn't mean there won't be a first time for everything ;)

We are going on that 7 day Royal Caribbean Cruise in November, so maybe I will have to break down and buy something just a little bit fancier than I'm used to wearing :confused3

No guarantee that I will bring it along on a four day cruise though. I guess it depends on if I find something I like enough to want to wear it again.

Rick is definitely NOT a dress up kind of guy. He will wear dress pants and a button up shirt but that is usually as far as it goes for him.

I usually overpack anyway......

Mandy, we met on the TK board. But nice to see you again.

Hi all

Hi everyone! We are back from Hawaii. We may have another couple take the second bedroom in our room for this cruise. They are Jay and Pam and their two daughters Emma and Hannah (8 year old twins). I will try to get them to start posting.

Any thought on a Disboards meeting spot? Maybe we can have a party in our room for everyone on the day at sea.

Hope to learn more about everyone prior to the trip!

:wave2: Dave, glad you're back from Hawaii. Did you have a nice trip? What was the weather like?

A party in your room on sea day sounds like a very nice idea. If you want to host that, that'd be great. That way we can get together and talk about how our cruise has been, the fun stuff we've done etc.

I would think we would have some sort of short get aquainted meeting on the first day/night of the cruise too. Maybe somewhere like the Promenade Lounge, Diversions, Cadillac Lounge or even on deck somewhere:confused3 Just so that everyone can get together and actually meet each other so we can recognize each other during our travels.

Good luck talking your friends into coming along with you.

My first cruise mates and I first met up on deck 10 above the sailaway party...

alot of folks showed up for that one, it helped that we were all wearing the same shirts...made it easier to recognize who the DIS cruisers were.

Afterwards we planned another mini-gathering in the promenade lounge, but with people getting ready for dinner and getting settled in not as many showed up to that one.

I was on the Magic, I know the Wonder is basically layed out the same...the whole ship is open to foot traffic the first day. Kids were at the adult pool and adults were allowed in the stack, we could meet pretty much anywhere~

Happy Mother's Day Mandy!

Thanks everyone, I've had a lovely day. I had some make-up, a Stitch mug from the girls and a lovely big Winnie The Pooh card. Hubby bought us a Chinese takeaway tonight so that I didn't have to cook

Welcome back Dave, I hope you had a brilliant time :)

On our last cruise, we had a mini-meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm, which gave us 1/2 an hour or so to have a quick chat before we went off to the Lifeboat drill at 4pm.

I don't mind where we meet, anytime from 10.30am onwards in the terminal, cos we're always one of the first there

Mandy :)

:sunny:

Spring is in the air today :teeth:

Mandy we tend to get to the terminal early too. I love getting on the ship just as soon as we can and starting our vacation off right with lunch :smooth:

If everyone is planning on getting to the ship fairly early we could maybe have an earlier meet before everything gets crazy with muster drills and sail away parties and getting ready for the evening ahead. ::yes::

Hi guys,

Well we will be coming from WDW. How long does it take to get to PC from WDW? ...

I know DH will want to get there early, as long as we dont have a hurry up and wait forever kind of thing.....I was figuring getting there around 9 -10ish...Is that too late?...What would be a good time to get there if you dont want to wait in a line forever???...I can plan for anytime.....I think I can do all the paperwork for the cruise at the resort we are going to stay at befor we leave for PC ...Is that right?...

Just learning here :confused3

Hi Betsy

The terminal usually opens at 10.30am, we got there around 10ish last year and we had to wait around outside. I think we will aim to get there around 10.20am. We will be leaving from WDW too (Pop Century) and I think it takes about an hour to get to Port Canaveral. I will be filling all the paperwork for the cruise before we leave for PC too.

We love getting there early and going straight up to the Beach Blanket Buffet once we've boarded. I love it when you board and they announce your name and the CM's clap you on - oh dear I'm starting to get all excited again just thinking about it :rotfl2:

Mandy :)

Betsy, I agree with Mandy in that it takes about an hour to get to the port from WDW.

When we leave from WDW we usually plan to leave around 9 ish, usually ends up being a little later and then we get to the port about 10:30. Just nicely in time for the port to open.

By the time you drop off your baggage and get through the security and into the terminal, through the check in line, you are just about nicely in time to board when they start.

You need to leave a bit of time in the terminal for looking around and admiring the ship from the outside deck before you board. You can watch them load and unload the ship with food, luggage etc.

I don't think you can check in at the resort unless you are doing a land/sea package deal :confused3 . Really it is no big deal to check in at the port, just make sure that all of your paperwork is filled out before you get there and you'll breeze right through.

I don't know yet where we will be coming from but I'm pretty sure that we will be spending at least the night before the cruise in Florida somewhere. I don't like to travel on the day of the cruise, too many things can go wrong. :sad2:

Hiya everybody! Hope you all had a great weekend, looks like Mandy sure did! BTW...

A late...

Happy

Mother's

Day

Mandy :woohoo:

Gosh, DD got sick again! This time the stomach flu, so this is 2x this month for her! I have sterilized the entire house so we don't get it and maybe she'll be better soon!

It looks like all of us has the 1st dining rotation! Dinnertime will definately be interesting

Talk to ya'll later! Take care! :grouphug:

Sorry to hear about the sickies in your house. That's not very much fun is it :sad2:

I wonder if we will all be in the same dining room together?

Dining rotations can be requested thru your TA...

and then firmed up when onboard.

~We had 13 at our table and only one family that had to be shuffled to match~

We breezed so easily thru check in that I never saw the model ship :confused3

Mom was a return cruiser, checked in at the castaway cay club member line...
we left AKL around noon so our arrival was closer to 1pm.

The rest of our DIS party, who also stayed at the akl the night before our cruise, took the dcl bus and left the hotel the same time we did. We all got our food, went right into our rooms, did the emergency drill and then went straight up to deck 10 for the sailaway party.

Getting there early might be nice but my family isn't known for being early to anything ;)

Thanks, she's back to school now!

You know I gotta say this out loud to myself.... DUH! I didn't even think about this! I'm mean... they do have 3 different restaurants they rotate 1st diners through!

I hope our rotation is set up the same as last, we had Parrot Cay 1st, Triton 2nd, and ate last in Animator's Palate!

I think my group (DH, DS, DD, & I) are the only ones in my family who love to be early for vacations! I'm just too excited to wait!

That's me too. :teeth:

I'd rather sit at the airport for an hour waiting for my plane than running in at the last minute.

I like to get to the ship and sit in the terminal and soak up the atmosphere. Look at the ship model, the ship itself etc.

Usually the weather is much nicer than where I've come from that I just enjoy being outside. :sunny:

And heck................ there's palm trees there :lmao: Anyplace with palm trees, is the place for me ;)

:sunny: <~~~~ this is what the weather is like here today :thumbsup2

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful weather day.

Hiya cruisers,

Going food shopping today....Big day......Yea

Morning Betsy, right now I have no set plans for the day except for dinner out tonight at a dinner/comedy night thing.
