I just love this wholesome show -- there are not too many like it around any more. The new season begins on Monday September 16th. But, according to TV Guide - " While Jessica Biel (Mary) will appear in only a few episodes, Watson (Matt) - diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease in the spring -- is unlikely to appear in any. However, he'll write for the show while undergoing chemotherapy."

How sad --- He is so young too. I will miss Matt on the Show.
:(

it won't be the same without them. i like this show too. thanks for the reminder about the new season. :)

I saw on ET, I think, that the show hired Barry Watson to be a writer as they wanted to keep him around. They are letting him work around his schedule and health. I really like how they showed support for him. It is nice to see they practice what they preach... I enjoy this show too.

I didn't know he had Hodgkin's. That is so sad. My DD loves this show. It is corny, but compared to what is out there it is a good show.

Loved this show when it first came on 6 years ago (watched the first episode from our room in the Contemporary), but I've kind of grown away from it.

:( i didn't know watson has been diagnosed with Hogkins. i love the show and pray for a speedy recovery for him. i will miss biel and watson. :(

Is Watson the oldest kid?

Yes Watson (Matt) is the oldest boy that just got married last season.

According to TV Guide - "David Gallagher, who plays the middle son, Simon, will be stepping into teen-idol status with stories focused on his love life" --- sounds like the show will be leaning more toward Simon this season.

not to start anything.....but i probably will.....Simon annoys me....a lot and if he becomes more of a focus....i will lose interest. this is of course MHO

I liked this show in its first season. Thanks for letting me know about the 2 older childrens' status. I'll pray for Matt and hope he recovers.

I love the show!! I watch reruns when they come on at 5 on another channel. I'm hoping that this year I will get to watch it on the WB, last year I was always at dance.

I hope everything works out for Barry, he is a great actor :)

My kids and I love that show. One of the greatest things about it is that it deals with serious topics(pressure to have sex, drugs, drinking etc...)in a way that is GOOD,not glorifying it.It makes for great conversation starters with my boys too.

We are all praying for Watson's recovery.too.

I just recently discovered this show this summer (while I had morning sickness and couldn't do anything but watch TV). I didn't even realize that they were still making new ones, and I didn't know that Watson was sick. I'll be praying for him. That's a horrible disease.

I've watched this show off & on for a while and liked it. Sorry to hear about one member being sick! I like the two younger girls. Simon also annoys me..

That's a terrific show and I will miss seeing Barry Watson, I think he adds a lot.

I used to like the show because it was wholesome and family oriented. However, as the years have gone by the show has gotten too concerned with sex. Every child on the show (as well as most of the adults) thinks of nothing besides sex. The shows used to deal with things like the family dog, various plots involving family relations, school problems, etc. Now, if it isn't about their love lives, it isn't dealt with. I don't know of any family, much less a minister's family that is so consumed with who is dating whom 100% of the time. Even the youngest girl, though she doesn't seem to be concerned with a boyfriend herself, is always telling everyone else in the show how to run their love lives.

I really like the show but for some reason we have a hard time getting all the new episodes on the TV up here. They will show a couple and then leave it for a while. It is really frustrating. I am really sorry to hear about Watson. He really adds to the show. I was looking forward to more marriage problems. The one I have problems with is Ruthie. She is the same age as my dgrdd but she acts so much younger and spoiled. I look forward to seeing the new ones.

This is the first I'm learning of Barry Watson. Very sad. :( Prayers for him during treatment. My whole family enjoys this show and, we watch the daily re-runs on Channel 9 here in Chicago, too.

Looking forward to a new season. Will miss Biel & Watson though.

I am going to surf..and find out what i can about Barry. He is my favorite on that show.

I agree if Simon is the "star" now..i might stop watching also. He is annoying, whiny.

I wonder how they are going to write Barry off for a season..because he and his wife was the main story line at the close of the season last year.

UMM...will update if i find out anything interesting!
