7th Annual Christmas Thread

Someone HELP me with my 2.5 year old twins. I am absolutely, positively stumped for them because they have an older sister that was (and is, as well as the twins) thoroughly spoiled so she has every toy known to man, leaving my youngest two with loads and loads and loads of hand-me-downs to play with.

.

Do they have the new Little People Disney park set? It just came out a few months ago. My kids saw it in the store and went nuts! There are a lot of add ons to it as well that could each be wrapped individually.

What about an outdoor toy? We are thinking about getting our kids (2.5 and 4) either a teeter-totter or one of those dome climbers.

Are they closing in on 3? My son got a 3 wheeled scooter for his 3rd birthday and he loved it. My daughter (3 in February) is probably close to where she could do it as well.

Bitty Babies plus all the goodies for each of them? I bet you have a lot of dolls already, but maybe not a nice doll each?

My kids also LOVE these. They both want a mermaid one for Christmas (and yes, I am getting one for my normally all boy rough and tumble 4 year old boy!).

My parents already picked up the Disney playset for them and I've got the couple princess sets & Kil Klop sets that we don't have (still needed Rapunzel's tower and Belle's chalet). :thumbsup2

We live in NE Ohio and outside toys always seemed cruel to me. My birthday is in January too and I hated getting toys that I couldn't use until June! We'll be moving this summer into a much-needed larger house and are going to build one of those huge swingsets for the girls.

They each got a Bitty Baby for their birthdays in June. :) I do have some clothes for them that I'm saving for Christmas.

I wonder whether they'd be big enough for Big Wheels? We have a basement playroom that's pretty stuffed to the gills but what's one more thing until we can take them outside in the spring??

Oh yeah, we are in AZ, so winter is our best outside time! We are still in the upper 80's/ low 90's. My kids are in tank tops today!

My daughter got a big wheel from Grandma last Christmas and within the last month or so can finally use it. She is slightly taller than average at 2.5.

I got a ton of xmas stuff out of the way in Disney. I will do more of a post when I get home and have something more then a phone. Only a handful of things still to get (stuff I can get at home so I didn't have to worry about packing it to come back lol).

Hoping to do the same next month as well. More for nieces and nephews as my kids were gifted disney gift cards from grandparents for birthdays this year they plan to use.

How do you handle it when your child keeps asking for something that you know they aren't going to get?

I always just told DD that parents get veto power over anything they put on a Santa list. That Santa will email me to verify what's OK and what's not before he packs up his sleigh ::yes::

So I would just say "no - I'll veto that one when Santa emails me because we don't have room for it. I'm sorry, but I'm sure there are plenty of other neat things he'll bring."

This approach got me out of all sorts of things! Puppies, high heeled shoes, movies that were beyond her age, and lots more!

Even with her now being 14, I invoke my veto power over things DD puts on her Christmas list for family.

We have art/craft stuff, board games, puzzles, every single Little People item made in the past 5 years, Barbie dolls, baby dolls, Polly Pocket....

The only things I've gotten them so far are Kindle Fires and I'm going to start them off with Calico Critters since that is one playset that their older sister doesn't have.

I have a huge l list (an stash) for my oldest, but almost nothing for the twins.

How about experiences? Pool passes, zoo membership, art classes, indoor bouncy house place?

Or Magazines? My kids LOVE getting mail!

Any magazine recommendations for a 9 year old girl?

Hiya guys!!!! so my older DD saw the Big Hero 6 plush at the Disney Store and fell in love with it he is really soft and his arms move, I think he's cute too lol!, and after seeing an exclusive trailer at Comic Con she wanted it even more, sooooo I just went online and bought two of those for each DD and I had some Rewards money so it worked out great! I really didn't want to get any more stuffed toys but...... lol!!! I have a feeling the movie will be a big hit this Xmas :)

The American Girl magazine is actually pretty awesome. No ads (other than the back page is an ad for their dolls). The rest of the magazine is full of cool stuff and great reads. I definitely recommend it!

I am curious about the Big Hero 6 too…I think it will be really cute!!
American Girl mag is pretty good! We got it for a year and she enjoyed it

Two daughters 19 and 21- iPhone six, samantha grace bags with gift cards, pjs, perfume, phone cases, Alex and ani bracelets, Disney DVD, tickets to Disneys Newsies playing here in Chicago

Ugh! I feel your pain! My DD will turn 3 12/28 so I have her birthday and Christmas to worry about !
I was helping my older DD make her list and I am panicking that their number of presents won't match under the tree!

I'm thinking the Calico Critters as well but I can't decide on which house to buy. I bought the Lil Woodzeez treehouse because I think it's cuter than the CC one. She will get that and a family of CC cats for her birthday. We do her family party in early December.....I combine both family parties because my older DD's birthday is 11/29 and having a party for each during the holidays got to be too much.

I need to look into the balance bike....but I feel bad giving her a bike in the middle of December. I was going to do a CC house too so I could buy more of the furniture but I don't know if it will be too much with the treehouse.

So far I have for Christmas:

Anna and Elsa barbies
Slippers
An Ariel sweatshirt
The CC cat baby triplets to go with her family
A bitty baby outfit

I don't care if I spend the same $$ amount I just want them both to have a similar number of presents under the tree.

Some things on my list are:

New dress up clothes (some of our stuff is looking rough)
Play dough stuff ( but both she and her sister play with it so I don't know if this is fair)

My other problem is I keep getting asked for ideas and I can't give up what little I have!

I do the same as you -- don't care about matching $ amounts, just the number of gifts under the tree.

DD1's birthday is 12/31 so I feel your pain about doubling up on gifts... I buy year round because it makes the financial feel not quite as bad, lol. For some reason I NEVER have a problem thinking of gifts for her -- even double the amount of gifts!!

We do her parties at the end of January because I'm too afraid to hand out invites before Christmas break for a party in early January (and December is just too busy for EVERYONE). I always fear that people will forget about the party in the hubub of Christmas. My birthday is in mid-January and most of my friends/family forget about it because they're just getting back into the swing of normal life/routine again. I don't want to have that happen to her. It's bad enough having a birthday so close to Christmas. :(

Oh, I did add a couple things to their lists last night.

Melissa & Doug binoculars (they LOVE them at preschool)
Melissa & Doug flashlights (because they always steal mine when I'm trying to find stuff under the couch)
Small Barbie doll cases

I'm contemplating a Barbie doll house for all 3 of them but DD1 is basically finished and honestly I don't know where I'd put it. Our house is SO tiny we're crawling on top of each other to get around. We'll be moving this summer into some place bigger but until then I have no clue where the house would go. We're already having to move toys out of DD1's room (it's only 7x9 -- my parent's walk-in closet is bigger than it!) to make room for a bigger bookshelf.

f.

We got the binoculars when we took the Disney Alaska cruise last summer when they were 17 months and almost 3. Both of my kids still LOVE them and play with them all the time. My kids both love flashlights too!

Ooh I will have to look for the binoculars! She would love some! I'm off work today so I've been doing some shopping.... I found so much I could buy my DD6 but I restrained myself:). Until I went into Gordmans's. I have bought 2 Monster High Dolls that she doesn't have and I said I wasn't buying anymore for gifts as she has so many THEN way in the back was an Invisibilly doll! One I've never seen on the shelf and a boy as well! I guess now she will be getting 3;). I'm sure any mom of a MH fanatic will agree I couldn't put him back on the shelf.

At Gordmans's I also found some cardboard trunks....one larger to put DD2's bitty baby clothes in and 2 smaller ones for both girls. that I will put "beauty stuff" in......I always seem to buy more than their stockings will hold. They had lots in different sizes either Minnie/Daisy, Princess, Sofia, or Doc themed, the largest were under $15 and they would be great to hold "stuff".

I love how this thread always gives me good ideas each year!

Any magazine recommendations for a 9 year old girl?

My DD is 10, and she loves her American Girl magazine. She's been getting it for a couple of years (and she no longer plays with her AG dolls - the magazine doesn't directly relate to the dolls).
