I am helping a family going right before Christmas=high crowd days. They are staying at Shades of Green and could not get fast passes until 30 days out. Unfortunately, not able to get mine train. This is also an 8AM EMH day at MK (all the days this week are). What is the best strategy for doing the mine train stand by? Do people get in line right at 8 and wait an hour? From what I can tell this is not an EMH ride. FYI: I am told that they do have EMH access.

The mine train does operate during AM EMH. In the days right before Christmas the MK opens at 8 AM and EMH starts at 7 AM. Be sure to check the schedule for the specific day in question; those hours were updated by Disney a week or two ago.
Getting to the park in time for a 7 AM EMH and going right to the mine train should be a great way to ride with a very short wait.
