I leave for Disney in 3 weeks. I would love to hear reviews from riders on 7DMT before I decided whether to load up on FP+ for it.

Was it just as expected, exceeded your expectations, or leave you disappointed?

I was disappointed. We waited in line for about an hour at the 24 hour party. It is short and much more mild than Big Thunder. I think it is more in line with the Goofy coaster. As the ride came to an end, my 12 year old niece looked at me and said "That's it?" I couldn't have agreed with her more. I won't waste my time doing it again any time soon.

I haven't experienced it yet, but I think Disney failed with this big time. I haven't heard anyone say that it was bad, but I haven't heard the opposite either. We waited years for an underwhelming ride that is too small for larger adults. I have been a Disney apologist, but they are getting on my nerves. Universal announces and builds things twice as fast as Disney does. Why?

Comcast is pumping money into US and IOA and going all out on rides, expansions, hotels, entertainment. Where as Disney is being frugal when it comes to expansions and rides. To busy counting the pennies(DVC *cough*) than caring about the future dimes, quarters and dollars. Unfortunately this is current managements strategy. I do happen to think MyMagic Plus was a good investment(I think most technology is a good investment) just it's execution poor.

I personally like Disney more than Universal for memory/feeling alone. But I really hope Universal starts ripping into them. Nothing like competition to make things better. As for the 7DW I was not amazed, not let down either, but I knew what I was getting. :-/

I'd have to say it met our expectations: a very well-themed and low intensity coaster.

We were fortunate to be there on Sunday (5/25) when they opened it for FP+ bookings so we were able to ride without the long wait that many other soft-openers have experienced. My family prefers the milder rides, so we were not disappointed but it is definitely a tame coaster. Very smooth ride. I have to admit we couldn't really feel our car rocking much. The indoor scenes are excellent and overall we really enjoyed the ride. We are getting ready to book our FP+ for upcoming summer trip and will try to do this ride 2 or 3 times over 12 days.

Good luck with your planning & have a great trip!

We also snagged a fp on Sunday when it opened (to our surprise). It is not a "thrill" coaster, but we enjoyed it. I would compare it more to BTMR. I think you should give it a try and judge for yourself. The theming is terrific and it well worth using a fp for. All the fp riders on our train seemed very pleased with the ride. It will be one of my must do's in the future.

DD and I rode it today. We had fastpasses and I was very glad we didn't wait an hour or longer to ride it. I wasn't expecting a thrill ride. It's a kiddie coaster in the middle of Fantasyland. That said, even with low expectations, I was underwhelmed. You could barely notice the swinging motion of the cars. The scene in the cottage was difficult to see due to glare from the sun reflecting off the windows. It was far too short a ride for how long it took to construct. I will say I was pleased by how smooth a ride it is.

Once the novelty of it being the new ride wears off, I don't expect this to be a headliner.

We rode it 3 1/2 times on Sunday May 25. 1/2 time because it stopped and we were walked off through the mine area where all the animatronics are. I would definitely use a fast pass for this because the wait time will be long since it's new. Or go very early in the morning. It was fun and smooth. That makes it good for people who don't like jerky rides like Big Thunder Mtn RR or Space Mtn. Longer ride than Barnstormer. DS8 liked it very much but prefers Big Thunder Mtn RR. which is a little more thrilling for him. The experience is different if you sit in the back. We only rode it during the day but some said the ride at night feels different (as many rides do). I like it... but I still wonder why it took so long to build this.

I am not a bias Disney supporter but truly how can you have such an opinion with out ever riding the ride. To base your response on the writings of others is truly short sighted.

It is in Fantasyland.
It is fun.
It is for families, which include small children.
It is smooth and quiet.
It does not jerk you around.
It is shorter than expected.
It may be snug if you are overweight and/or tall. 5'10 here, no issues.
It does have small drops and swift turns, but nothing that would make one sick.
It is very detailed inside and out.
My 80 year old grandparents rode it this afternoon and loved it.
It does not matter how long it took to built. It is now open. Go ride it. And do not read or write a review before riding it.

:)

It was never supposed to be a thrill ride. Don't know why some people expected it to be anything else but a mild family roller coaster.

And Universal is building twice as fast because Island of Adventure has been mostly developed over the last decade. Walt Disney World was developed several decades ago. It's not supposed to grow at the same rate as Universal.

On topic, I think that you should evaluate what type of rides you are looking forward the most. If you love thrills, maybe you should save your FP+ for something else. SDMT is indeed a mild and short experience, but great for the whole familly.

I have based my opinion on seeing the mountain in person, the lack of enthusiasm after it opened, and the FACT that the cars are small. But, it is an OPINION. I am allowed to have one before I ride it. It may or may not change when I ride it next month.

I like to read reviews from people who have actually rode the ride.

I'm reserving judgement until I actually get a chance to ride it, but from what I see it looks like Disney built exactly what they said they would.

I rode it 3 times during the 24-hour day. I loved it. It is not as thrilling as BTMR, it's different. It has unique elements and is very enjoyable, but very short. I would definitely FP+ it at least once and not wait in stand-by longer than 45 minutes. The stand-by times during 24-hour day were way less than posted. 60 minutes posted only took us 35, but I'm sure that has changed with the addition of FP+. Overall I would definitely do it again!

Planning on riding it first thing at rope drop in June but I also have a FPP for it as well. Trying to determine if it is worth doing 2x or if I am better off reserving BTM with the FP.....Worth it twice or????

Thanks for all the reviews from people who rode it. I am going into it knowing its not a thrill ride and knowing it wont beat my favorite BTMR. I have made 4 FP+ and one of them is the first day there. If it really wows me, I will keep all of them. If not, I might be replacing the other ones. The ride looks like it would be awesome at night.

No matter what, I'll be at Disney so there's no way I can be disappointed :)
