We love Cape May. It is a must-do for us each trip. That being said, we aren't food snobs. The food is good and plentiful, but I wouldn't classify it as gourmet; just tasty and filling. The servers we have had were pleasant and the waits not that long.

The only long wait we had was this past December. We just had bad luck in making our PS at the same time as a bus tour of old ladies who were out seeing the Holiday decorations. The lines were long at times, and frankly, those people were just plain rude in terms of waiting in line. They seemed to think that they were the only ones in the restaurant and the rest of us should wait for them. It was more annoying than anything, and certainly not my fault or Cape May's fault.

Go and have a good time.

It's a must-do every trip for us. The non seafood items are worth going to - outside of the seafood (I don't eat seafood, DW does). The ribs are probably the best I've had on a buffet.

And if you're worried about the "real" food, the dessert bar is fantastic. The oreo bon-bons are worth the cost of the buffet alone.

During our trip last August we were "forced" to try the Cape May Cafe because of Hurricane Charlie. Despite the huge crowd because there were not many dining options. We ate around 5:15. Even though a large crowd waited the staff did not rush us. The food was great. My husband loved all of the seafood. I don't do seafood!!!! The ribs and prime rib were delicious. I love ribs and these fell right off the bone. The kids area of the buffet offered plenty of choices for my "picky eaters" One bit of advice.. save some room for dessert. Lots of choices. We enjoyed everything that we tried.

My dh and dd and I went last spring break. My husband was really impressed and we found it a good spot to take our little one. Not loud or rushed at all. The food is good, I love the tomato bisque soup :flower: Then in December my brother-in-law, his wife and three kids and my family made a stop there late one evening again. We too were pleased. The staff there is top notch, friendly!

We always eat at the Cape May Cafe each trip. Nothing fancy but very good, plentiful buffet. Salad greens are very nice and the sides are good also. Another buffet to consider would be the buffet at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It would appeal to you if you aren't interested in just the standard fare although most of the dishes would appeal to anyone. While I have never eaten at the Trail's End at Fort Wilderness, many people seem to like it.

I'm in the minority here, but I am not a fan of Cape May. I live in New England and can get far better seafood locally for a lot cheaper. The atmosphere is so nice though! I can't eat the desserts because of food allergies so I can't comment on those.

We like it. As a matter of fact, I was just planning meals for our August trip and my attempt to go to Artist Point was dashed by DH, DD, and DS who all rather go to Cape May. DS loves steamers and ribs, and DD and I love the Oreo bon-bons on the dessert buffet. CM's have always been very nice to us.

After a big meal here, it's fun to stroll along the Boardwalk.

I'm in the minority too. My family went there last time we were at WDW. We went around 6pm. The food was terrible. The seafood wasn't very cold and everything we tried was cold. It seemed everything had been sitting out for a while. For the money it wasn't worth it to us. Personally we could find something better to eat somewhere else.

Put us down as Indifferent.

It's not bad, but it's not great either. My father loves it for the clams. The other 5 adults when we go find enough to eat, but nobody raves about it. I would say go, but don't set your expectations too high so you won't be disappointed.

We liked it.. alot. In fact we went twice on our trip in January. The tropical beach atmosphere is nice, it's quieter than most of the Disney and non-disney restaurants (no loud music piped in). A nice laid-back relaxing dinner.

The ribs are excellent, tender and lean. Also very tasty: mashed potatoes (no garlic or parmesan or other spices), gravy, beef tips, chicken pasta, rice, clam chowder, fish, french fries.

The mussels, clams, and all-you-can-peel-shrimp, where only ok in my opinion - lukewarm.

The childs area didn't look very appetising to me, and my 5yo and 4yo neice and nephew both ate from the adult offerings.

The salad bar and dessert area were both untouched by me, but they looked delicious.

Add me to the didn't care for it list.

The ribs were delicious but that was the only thing I found I really liked. The fish & chips were soggy and much better can be had at Epcot. We also didn't try out the desserts due to food allergies and that seemed to be what alot of people rave about.

Dh and I are considering adding the Cape May dinner buffet to our list of dining choices during our May trip. Anyone have any good/bad/indifferent opinions about their own dining experience for dinner?? Dh and I love seafood and he adores ribs..so the food choices based on the menu we've read sounds great. Anyone have comments on the wait, quality of service, and quality of food????
We love Cape May Buffet. It is a must each and every trip. My DD loves to get the bucket-o-crablegs. Yes, it's extra but it's Disney. Also make sure to try the oreo bon-bon's

When we stayed at the BC seveal years ago, we ate at Cape May a couple of times due to convenience. We're from the Virginia coast have have lots of good seafood restaurants. I would rate Cape May right up there with Shoney's!! IMO there are many good restaurants at Disney. This is not one of them!!

We had dinner at Cape May 3 years ago during our first WDW trip because of all the rave reviews here on DIS. We have a family of seafood lovers and buffet lovers -- we love going to Vegas just for the food -- and everyone of us were disappointed at the quality of the seafood served for the price charged. I felt bad that my father-in-law (who was treating us the meal) paid for the meal since I picked the restaurant! None of us plan to return.

DH mostly loved that he could eat all those clams! I didn't think that they were great. I prefer many of the other restaurants - however - I will say that the service was very good, there was a lot of stuff that my then pre-teen daughters would eat, and the desserts were yummy. I prefer Boma. We always stroll the boardwalk and check out the huge aquarium in the adjacent (bar/restaurant/???) Anyway, I would go. I think it is worth a try.

Just got back from eating at Cape May. It is one of my favorites but a couple things have been changed since this review was written: Cape May Clambake Buffet

The clams are now in some sort of sauce which my wife did not like. And the prime rib is no longer on the menu and has been replaced by flank steak. The night we were there, they were serving fish and chips (fries) which were so good they were having trouble keeping enough out there for everyone.

The dessert side of the buffet has now been moved to a separate area near the restaurant's entrance. Still a lot to choose from including blueberry pie!

I'll be updating this review soon. I still love this place!

We have been to Cape May several times, and our most recent visit last October may be our last. Like another poster said, we can get much better seafood and better prices close to home. I didn't care for the steamers, they were in some sort of garlic "sauce" and the rest of the seafood choices didn't thrill me. I found enough to keep me happy with the non seafood items. I just don't think it's worth the money for the basic faire.
