7544 Anyone have this cabin

I'd do a search if I could. One the deck plans/staterooms diagram, there is a small white line on one side of this room. Does that mean anything?

That is the fire door, I think. Shouldn't have any affect on your stay at all

We stayed in 7538, 3 doors down. I'm not sure about the specific white line. It probably means that it's a connecting stateroom. I checked my passporter (it's the original release, so it doesn have some errors), and it doesn't show that one connecting, but it may be wrong. If it is a connecting stateroom, there are pros and cons.

Pros: The connecting door makes a little alcove which is great to use for tucking things like backpacks and shoes into. Since it's recessed, you won't trip over them.

Cons: Some people say they hear more noise through the connecting doors. I've been in both types of rooms and never noticed any difference.

But I wanted to say that the location you're in is very convenient. You're close to the laundry room, but not on top of it. Close to the mid-ship elevators, but not on top of them. And deck 7 is my favorite for easy access to everything. Two flights up to the pool deck, 3 flights down to the theater, two flights down to the lab, etc.

I was a bit confused by that. There is no fire door. Each cabin has one entrance only (except if you count the verandah as a door).

The laundry room is on the opposite side of the ship (on the 7000 side) about 2/3 of the way towards the back. It's across from rooms 7090-7096.

Luckily I had my passporter at work today since I was looking up our seats for our flights NEXT WEDNESDAY! (Can you tell I'm a little excited????)

You can tell I'm not working today, can't you. I went to DCL's site and looked at their plans. Yes that room is a connector. You can tell by the little bumps in the wall. But the solid line is on the other wall. As best as I can tell, that's probably a join line from the ship's construction. Some people refer to that type of thing as a firewall, hence the post from Lloyd. Basically, that section of the ship could be separated from the next one by fire and watertight doors.

Good news for you is that the wall is thicker there, so less sound from one side.

But since I'm not an official DCL rep, that's just my best guess.

Based on the DCL brouchure I've got on my desk (and with a quick check of the website), it seems to me that 7544 is not a connecting room. The room just forward, 7542, connects with 7540. The connecting rooms are denoted on the deck plan with a small solid black triangle which points to the room with which it connects.

Regarding the fire door, my reference was to the fire doors in each hallway, not to any alternate exit from the rooms. They're meant to contain fire to certain parts of the ship and not let it spread. Anyway, now that I think about it, I think the fire doors are recessed in the walls and swing out to close, rather than sliding out like a pocket door. The white line may just be a wider cavity between the two rooms which has things such as pipes and wires running through. I've never stayed in or near this room, so I'm not sure.

I also thought the laundry room is on the starboard side and just forward of the aft elevators. Maybe across from room 7598 or thereabouts. For some reason, I only remember seeing it when I'm staying on the starboard side. I could be wrong about this.

We had that room for our Western Cruise in March/03. Loved the location. Two floors down to the lab. No elevator noise. It is not a connecting room. When you walk in, the closet is on your right, bathrooms on the left. The bed is on the left side. Loved the veranda. We loved the location so much that we have the room next to it booked for our next cruise in 2 months. 7542, 7540 We needed connecting this time.

Lisa and Lloyd, thank you both very much for the info. Being married to a fire fighter, I immediately understood about the fire door. I will find out for sure and let everyone know when I return. Also, I am glad to hear that it is not a connecting room.

Staci~ 7544 is one of our favorite cabins- we reserved it for the May Repo cruise ! It is not a connecting cabin. It is just left of the midship starboard stateroom entrance. There are no inside cabin doors opposite yours. It's a very convenient & quiet location. I believe the Roy or Walt Suite is directly above - no noise at all. It is a cabin for 4 people, with the pull down bunk feature.

The white line you see on the deck schematic is a metal wall between 7544 & the cabin to your right if you are standing on the balcony. It creates a little privacy between your neighbors on that side, which is nice. It does have a plexi verandah front & the plexi separator to the left.

Enjoy your cabin! It's easy to get to the forward elevators, or laundry room (7598) & the mid ship stairs are great for either direction when the elevators are crowded.
