I paid the $75 fee for a II search. What happens if MS doesn't find anything? Do they keep the $75? I remember when they didn't charge the fee unless it was a confirmed reservation.
IF they don't find a match or you don't accept something else, they will refund it. Once you accept a match, it's non refundable. The question I have had is what if they find a match and you say no. The written rules would suggest you're liable but in practice it seems you would still get the money back. DVC members should know that DVC deals with II differently than the rest of the world. In every other situation I know of, if II finds a direct match it is a done deal and one is committed to the exchange. IMO, this and the ability to do a search first for up to 2 years out is what salvages an otherwise poor exchange setup. Still, it only moves it up to mediocre for reasons I've spelled out previously. And the other side of the point is to assume that at some time this will change and DVC will start automatically locking in direct matches without calling.
