70 to Freezing in 7 hours. A Nov/Dec 2011 trip report. Updated 4/28

I am totally avoiding doing what I should be doing. I've even written the next update in an attempt to not do what I should be doing.

Day 3, part 4:

So when I left you we had just finished watching the parade. We turned around and I proceeded to take many pics as just behind us were 8 or ten little statues of Disney characters. It's kind of funny because just two days ago as I was about to type this update it was on the DLP facebook page that these "statuettes are models that are used by the Disney Animators when drawing the different characters. They help them get the proportions right when moving the characters around and positioning them in the space that is available"
They were in serious need of some cleaning though. Bird poop on them and if you look really really closely at the Mickey Mouse picture there was actually hundreds of little black flies around the statue:

We were both feeling the tiredness today. Probably the first early morning catching up on us both so at this point we were just taking it easy. We had made some lunch at the breakfast table again so we sat (well I lay down) on a bench nearby and had our rolls. (I may have had ten minutes shut eye while we were having our little break) Then we got up and had a browse in a nearby shop:
SAM_4474_zpsf596b7ae.jpg

SAM_4479_zps4f206c26.jpg

The shop leads into the area where they teach you how to draw a character. It wasn't running at the time but I thought the area looked cool:
SAM_4482_zpse34753b7.jpg

So after that we decided to take a stroll over to the other side of the park. There was alot to see in quite a small area at this side of the park. First there was Crushes coaster. This is probably one of the more popular rides in this park. Basically people go on a roller-coaster in a turtle shell... scary bit some people are facing backwards... we didn't try it:
SAM_4486-001_zps7c1e3106.jpg

On the other side of the street was a cars waltzers type ride. I think like the one they now have in Disneyland California:
SAM_4498_zps961eb7e5.jpg

So once you walk pass Crushes Coaster one side of the street remained cars themed while the other side turns into Toontown:
SAM_4489_zps6546a403.jpg

Now you may need to sit down for this as this may come as a bit of a shock... ok I'll presume you're already sitting because you're at a computer so just prepare for a shock. You know I've been going on about the character mobs and the ridiculous I don't need to queue system they have going on in DLP... well in Toontown they had character meet and greets... WITH A PROPER QUEUE. I know I was surprised as well. I spotted Mr. Mouse with hardly no queue and ran for it:
08112012805_zpsa62bdafa.jpg

Momma caught on where I ran to and joined me in the queue. I got my pic with Mickey Mouse and even Momma got a pic with Mickey Mouse this time:
SAM_4532_zpsd56640b9.jpg

While we were in the queue for the head Mouse there was a Ding dong ding dong loud noise and another character comes out. So naturally we ran into his queue after we had our pics with Mickey Mouse. This one was Pluto. He was very friendly giving slurpy licks to the head and all lol
SAM_4500_zps4290ffd8.jpg

After that we strolled passed Luigi's and on to explore the Toy Story Playland area:

SAM_4511-001_zps6d0fad88.jpg

Toy soldier parachute drop... does what it says on the tin. You get strapped into the parachute and it goes up and down like you're jumping:
SAM_4512_zps57c1c744.jpg

SAM_4513_zps5901c435.jpg

Slinky dog goes round and round in circles after his tail like a mini kids coaster. The wait time was only 5 minutes. I asked Momma if she wanted to come on it because it looked tame enough for me to handle. She wouldn't and I didn't want to go on my lonesome so I just took pics.

SAM_4519_zps4f419712.jpg

RC Racer goes up and down on two tracks like so:
SAM_4524_zps64a757c0.jpg

Then at the back (or front I was confused because that welcome sign I posted before was actually down here) was the Barrel of Monkeys which was a shop:
SAM_4520_zps26774b7a.jpg

We had a quick look in there and I pin traded. Behind the Barrel of Monkeys were a load of cranes and a building site basically. I've read online that they are building a ratatouille dark ride there. The whole Toy Story area was very cute though and very well themed it reminded me of something from Alice in Wonderland though because it was like everyone was suddenly shrunken down and all the toys were giant. I liked it though; even the lights and fences were cute:

Next up: Food, cars and sleeping!

Thanks for the heads up on the update.

That part of the park looks great, especially the race car and the parachute attractions. Something like that would be great at DHS.

Yay for a queue for Mickey.

It was cool. I love different things in the parks that I haven't seen or done before and that was certainly different :) Raging now I didn't go on Slinkie dog by my lonesome as well.

Yes I bet you are kicking yourself for not riding. I know I would be! By the way I love all the photos!

I'm catching up after being sick and loving the updates.

I just adore those little cars in the parade that go with the characters...just too darn cute. And that car for the Dalmatians is my favorite.

No bothers :)

It was cool looking. It's all so small there though. I think DHS needs like a whole pixar area with Toy Story, Carsland and whatever else they can squeeze in there lol

Yay for a queue for Mickey.
I know. A normal queue where you don't have to beat someone up to get to the character.. It was like heaven :goodvibes

Thanks. Yeah I don't know why I didn't just go when the wait time was five minutes. I just wasn't feeling it that day I guess. :confused3

Thanks. Hope you're feeling better now. :grouphug:

They were very cute. My favourite was Lilo and Stitch but then I love Stitch anyway. The Dalmations car was cool. I loved RC Racer as well though :)

Love the statues and that toy story area is too neat. Love the parachute ride and the RC Racer coaster. Very cool!

Love the statues

There was a load more of those statues. That is just a selection.

that toy story area is too neat. Love the parachute ride and the RC Racer coaster. Very cool!
I didn't chance those :rotfl: big baby when it comes to anything that even looks like it could be in the slightest way thrilling. :goodvibes Small world all the way for me :lmao:

They have some really cute areas at DLP!

And it sounds like I would love the Crush Coaster! What fun!

I am happy to hear that at least Mickey had a proper queue. I can't even imagine if he didn't. :scared1:

Ok, DHS really needs a Pixar area like that... it would make it soooo much better.

I'm glad you finally found some actual character queues! :rotfl2::lmao:

I really liked the different areas they had like the Toy Story Playland or then the Storybook boats in the other park.

And it sounds like I would love the Crush Coaster! What fun!
Crushes coaster is the toy story mania of that park popularity wise. If you aren't there early you'll be queuing for hours.

I am happy to hear that at least Mickey had a proper queue. I can't even imagine if he didn't. :scared1:
I know that was so good. Spoiler we went back another day and there was different characters there.

Ok, DHS really needs a Pixar area like that... it would make it soooo much better.
It so would they could do Monsters Inc something, Cars and Toy Story it would be so cool. They should probably do something like that instead of this avatar land thing that's supposed to be coming to Animal Kingdom

I'm glad you finally found some actual character queues! :rotfl2::lmao:
I was as well :) I was so shocked it was a proper queue like I couldn't not wait in line to see the Mouse :)

Love the Toy Story area....so cute. Why no picture of you wit Mickey or Pluto?:(

Laundry or an update..... Good choice in the update! :teeth:

The parade looks nice. Being that it is different would have defiantly made it a must see for me.

I agree with you, rude families who shove 10 people In front if you is bad. I've let little ones share out spot but just one or two that fit and went crazy!

The Toy Story area is so cool! I line how they've made it a whole area. I bet it very popular.

I'm camera shy lol! The pics with me in them are on facebook. :goodvibes

It wasn't laundry I was meant to be doing. I was supposed to be making some sort of radio yoke. I got it finished like 5 minutes before I was meant to be getting a bus to dancing though lol

It was cool. Stitch was my fave :lovestruc

I don't mind letting them in front if they're shorter than me and don't block my pics. If they shove then no! Also if they have one of those Mickey Balloons no because they get in my way :rotfl:

I think Crushes coaster is the most popular in that park but that whole area was the most crowded area of the park. Although slinky dog's wait time was only 5 mins but I tihnk that's because of how tame it was.

Day 3, part 5:

So when I left you we were wandering around Toy Story Playland. Momma announced she was hungry and wanted to know where we were going for food. I had a look at the map and we headed back up the way we came of course taking pics along the way:
SAM_4527_zpsa29580b7.jpg

SAM_4528_zps34e5e3b8.jpg

I spied McQueen... he was in the corner of the Cars ride:
SAM_4529_zps4987ee50.jpg

On the way in through Studio 1 of Walt Disney Studios there are shops and restaurants. We went back in there for food. Can't tell you the name of the place because it's not on the receipt lol. I took more pics on the way in:
SAM_4536_zps071e1c47.jpg

Momma got a chicken burger meal it came in a Mickey Mouse box:
DSCF0244_zpsf1a0d277.jpg

Looks messy. She said it was nice though:
DSCF0245_zpsbc78f5a5.jpg

I got a 20th Anniversary Meal to try it. It cost 14.99 and you got a burger with some funky sauce on it that had 20th anniversary burnt into the bun, there was fries, a drink and a 20th anniversary weird dessert thing. It wasn't quite a cookie, wasn't quite a brownie. Overall I didn't like it and thought it was a waste of money but pictures:

We were in no real rush to go anywhere so we sat for a while. Momma was falling asleep at this point. I just enjoyed taking pics of whatever was around:
DSCF0242_zps83399fe3.jpg

Then suddenly they announced the time of the next show would be moved forward half an hour and it would be the last showing of the day. It was Moteurs... Action! Stunt Show Spectacular we wanted to go so we headed off towards a pretty full stadium of course taking pics along the way:
DSCF3446_zps729001aa.jpg

We ended up in the top of the seating but got quite a nice view from up there!
SAM_4549_zps77c21e15.jpg

I spy the castle:
SAM_4550_zps169185e2.jpg

See the building with the green pointy roof to the left of the pic that's actually one of the resort hotels the New York hotel. The balloon rises over lake Disney in the Disney Village... that's how close everything is at Disneyland Paris:
SAM_4552_zps8800d8f9.jpg

SAM_4557_zps6e141162.jpg

The show started and it was similar but not as exciting as the one in DHS. Momma fell asleep. McQueen was there but it was just lacking some umph!
SAM_4554_zpsad7fe86f.jpg

SAM_4555_zps62da0e14.jpg

SAM_4558_zpsc116dc5f.jpg

It ended with a big fire explosion so I woke Momma up and we headed back towards the exit.
DSCF3447_zpsecb3e922.jpg

Along the way I was looking at the hat and there seemed to be a CM guarding the entrance so I decided to go over and ask her what it was because it wasn't quite clear on the map. She said it was a show about cartoons so Momma and I decided to go since we now had about three hours to kill. It was called The Art of Disney Animation it was as the CM had said a load of cartoon movies mixed together and then in the second half Mushu and a CM were talking about characters that had been left out of the movies. It was in French but there were headsets for other languages. Like any good show it emptied into a shop as well. We had been in the shop earlier in the day but decided to take some more pics:
DSCF3448_zpsd16390ac.jpg

DSCF3449_zps28554c7d.jpg

I only noticed when I was editing this pic for the update that this is actually broken. Goofy, Pinocchio and Pluto are headless. Do people really have so little respect for even merchandise in a shop like?!
DSCF3450_zpsb361d0be.jpg

Look up and it was Mickey Mouse in the stars:
DSCF3452_zps9071ea27.jpg

DSCF3453_zps907ad383.jpg

Next: Disney Dreams, part 1

That does seem a little pricey for the 20th anniversary meal.

I like how the Hollywood tower looks different. It's pretty cool. And its cool how you can see it from the LMA (French version) show. I'm surprised it wasn't as exciting.
