7 yr old birthday dinner either at HS or a resort

My oldest son will be turning 7 while we're at WDW and it looks like we'll be at HS the evening of his birthday. Which restaurant there would you recommend? The only other thing we may do is have dinner at one of the resorts (if my parents don't come to HS with us), in that case which restaurant would be good?

Inside HS I would go with the Sci Fi Dine In - get milk shakes with glo cubes - fun

At the resorts - I might go with Whispering Canyon Cafe, or Chef Mickeys

If he doesn't mind attention, I'd go to The Prime Time Cafe. Mention at check-in that's it's his birthday and hopefully you'll get a server who is on the high side of interaction (we've had varying degrees of servers who are into their roles). FWIW, I like the seating at PTC better than SciFi.

Is this for the 7 year old or older relatives? If for/about the birthday boy and he likes kids menu, I would vote for pizza planet. Not a table service restaurant, but great theming and they have pizza.

DD(8) always chooses to go to HDDR for her birthday. It's loud, casual, and has fart jokes.

It's really neat. It is like a set for a movie that is set outside at a drive in movie theater. There are stars, cars and a great big screen. The "movies" are just shorts about sci fi films. The food is decent. The burgers are good and the milk shakes are great

He loves burgers and shakes. You can be seated in cars, correct? How would this work with a party of 8?

There are giant aliens suspended from the ceiling. However, (insert facepalm smiley here) I now recall that pizza planet closes early in the off season. You may need to check ours and do it for lunch some day just for fun.
