Wondering if my 7 year old should attempt Rock-n-Roller Coaster. I love the ride, but I'm not sure if it seems too intense for someone barely over the height limit (49 & 1/4 inches). Anyone have a child of a similar height & age who either loved it, or had their head too enclosed in that harness?

My 7yo absolutely loved it!! He rode it twice and wanted to do it again. He is a big boy for his age, but this was his favorite. He does like roller coasters though and anything with speed so this was right up his alley. :)

I took my daughter on it last christmas. I would not say she loved it. But she did love space mountain. Go figure. I liked RNR better.

My sister who was 7 at the time loved it. Although, she did say that half the time she was not in her seat and was kind hovering over it when it went upside down. But she didn't mind....

My DD loved it when she rode it for the first time at that age. She is now 12 and it is still her favorite ride but I can't get her to try TOT!
I just told her we are dragging her on it this trip!

We first visited WDW in 2001 when my daughters were 7 and 9. My 7-year-old (Audrey) was *barely* 7, and she met the 48" requirement only with thick-soled shoes! She's a daredevil and wanted to ride the RnR, so we agreed. We made it past the height-check - barely - and when we finally got into the ride, I started panicking a little thinking "Holy cow, what have I done, my daugther is about to die!" I quickly coached Audrey to hold on to the restraint and wwooossshhh the ride began. The whole time I could think of nothing except Audrey's small body slipping out from under the restraint and falling to her death on an inversion. At the end of the ride she was still there (!) but with a serious look on her face - troubling to me in my panicked state. I asked her if she liked it... a huge grin developed on her face with the response: "YEAH!!". We're visiting again this summer, and that's one of only a few rides that she remembers well and wants to do again!

My 7 year old has been tall enough for this ride for so long now I forget when she started riding it. She has always loved it. I remember when she just made the height requirement and she looked so small in the harness. She did fine.

When it is only the 3 of us, she rides with her sister. They have been doing this for over a year and a half. They LOVE the very front and the bumpy back! I get to sit by myself or with a stranger!

Go for it. He will be safe.

First time my daughter rode she was 6 and 50 inches and she absolutely loved it she is a thrill seeker though :cool1: If they are over the height requirement then they will be fine but if they dont like going upside down really fast then I'd think they wouldnt like this much...

My daughter rode it in October when she was 5 (almost 6), and stood exactly 48" without shoes. The reason that we let her ride was because she was very insistent about it (it is one of her older brother's favorite rides) and because she loves Space Mountain. It still was a scary experience (for me, just as acovington described) but she LOVED it, and rode it 2 more times. She had no problem with the restraint.

Last April my DD6(at the time)and DS7 both rode RNR and were fine.My Dd LOVED it and rode it again. They were both 49 inches tall. :)

We took a family trip a couple years ago and my cousin's son had just turned 7 and insisted he wanted to go. He was back and forth all day and finally came up to me and told me he decided he wanted to do it so I told my cousin and her hubby and we took him over. We knew if he saw the "take-off" he'd get scared so I warned them that as SOON as the doors opened from the preshow to rush him around the corner. He kept trying to stop and see and we kept moving him along. As soon as we rounded the corner and couldn't see, we heard the tires squealing.

They put us in different sections so when it was over, I was still getting out and he comes running to me with the BIGGEST grin on his face talking a mile and minute and grabbing my hand to put on his chest so I could feel how fast his heart was beating.

The anticipation of thinking the worst was pulling at him all day, but he was SO glad he went and I think if we would have let him he'd have stayed in that line all day.

My 8 yr old son is halfway tempted to ride this next week when we are there. He meets the height requirement no problem but he is such a slender stick! I have the same fear someone else mentioned - him going right out from under the restraint!

Oh my goodness, you sound just like me!!! My son, who is now 13, started riding this ride the first year it opened. I really had no idea what to expect, it took off so fast, and was so intense that I was worried that my son would be next to me scared to death. With all the strength of a Mother fearing for their child's life, I wrenched my head from the back of the seat to try and look over at my son, I don't know how I did it, or how I could see him, but when I finally got a look at him, he was laughing and smiling! As soon as we got off, he talked his dad into going on it with him. For myself, I had to sit down and recuperate for awhile!

My 7yr old son love RNR too. He is average height and weight and had no problems with the harness.

My son who just turned 8 (50 inches) will be riding it for the first time in November and he cant wait. It's all he talks about. I love that ride so it will be great that he will be able to go on it this time with us.

Do it!!! DD was 6 last year when she tried it and LOVED IT. It is her favorite ride. Of course DD has been riding the Shock Wave (2 loops) at Six Flags since she was 4 (tall girl). You know what your child can handle. If she wants to try it - go for it.

My daughter just turned 7 and had an absolute blast!! Her top three rides are now TOT and RnR at MGM and Dueling Dragons at Universal IOA. My daughter is now a speed freak! :cool2:

My DD (then 7) went on when she was barely 48". It was a close call as to whether she'd even get on. She did fine and absolutely loved the ride. She was so obviously excited about it that the CMs back doored her a couple times.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. Sounds like a go for a 7 year old. But I am a bit nervous still - just like all those other Moms.

Also, What does "back doored" mean? Maybe they let her in the FP lane without a FP?
